Haha yeah, those chords are a bitch, but I actually manage to play them after a lot of finger stretching exercises :p I find the song really fun to play, except for the chorus which is kinda boring...

Hahaa, that wouldn't sound too great :P well it was an instrumental thing, like a guitar solo that they played at the start of the Giants Stadium gig. Search it up on youtube, quality's bad, but it sounds awesome!

A week or two ago, there were a few of you talking about one of the chords in the Micro Cuts chorus that was horribly wrong in the tab book or something, but as I'd not played Micro Cuts in a while, I didn't pay particular notice to it. I was playing it again for the first time in ages over the weekend though (having a proper riff fest along with Hyper Music and Dead Star in the process, I might add), and I really noticed it. I'm assuming it's the chord that's x-10-12-12-9-10 or whatever, as it's the only one that looks odd and also sounds really out of place. Can anyone who was talking about it before let me know what should be played instead of that? Cheers! :)

I play what it says in the Hullabaloo tab book and as far as I know it's perfect.

I don't have the Hullabaloo tab book, so that doesn't help me much!

I think the b string note that's played should be on the 11th fret instead of the 9th, which would make it a Gm Barre chord. :) Of course, really, you could always just play the power chord so it's:

G: 12
D: 12
A: 10

And it would probably sound good. :)

I found the Hullabaloo version but won't be able to save it on my laptop until tomorrow, so I'll wait until tomorrow night and try at the different options, then see what sounds best.

yeah that's the one, just fret the 2nd string at fret 11 instead of 9

Just wondering about dead star. Is the intro 12th fret on a drop D or 5th fret on the A?

Bs
18-08-2011, 03:14 PM
I do...

D 0 [12] [12] 0 [12] [12] 0 [12] [12] [3] [3] [3] [3] 0 [12] [12] 0 [12] [12] 0 [12] [12]------------------
A------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [3] [3] [3] [3]

Then the main riff...

Natural harmonics...Hope that looks alright...

Dave
18-08-2011, 03:21 PM
the riff is the part I meant but that tab you have sound better then what I was doing. What I meant was some tabs have the riff as
A|-5---0--5---0--5---------0-3-4-|
D|---0-0----0-0----0-5-6-7-0-----|
But it sounds to me like
D|-12-0-0---12-0-0---12-0-7--8--9-10-12-----|

Which is more accurate?

Bs
18-08-2011, 03:26 PM
Ooooooohhhhh, sorry...I use the 5th fret on the A string 99% of the time really...But I wouldn't be surprised if it's meant to be the other one...I do play it on the D string sometimes though, either to powerchord it and make it a bit chunkier, or to make it easier to go into the chord in the second part of the riff...

Larry.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the way Matt plays it to be honest. It's what he did on songs like New Born...

Dave
18-08-2011, 04:16 PM
I've always played:

D:12-0-0-12-0-0-12-0-5-6-7-0-10-11

I was just jamming around with it and I think this is fairly accurate.
A:-----------------------------------0-------------
D:12-0-0-12-0-0-12-0-5-6-7---10-11-12

The open A sounds great in there I think

Bs
18-08-2011, 04:23 PM
Yeah I think that's how it's meant to be played. Sounds right to me anyway.

Dave
18-08-2011, 04:24 PM
Tbh all of them work, it just comes down to which you prefer to play really

Dominic.

Intro:
D--13--14--14----13--14--14-----------------------13--14--14----13--14--14---------------------
G---0--12---12----0----12--12-----------------------0--12---12----0----12--12--------------------
A---------------------------------------5*-5*-5*-5*-----------------------------------------------------------
D-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------5*-5*-5*-5*---

Not sure if those harmonics are the right ones but they're close enough...

Riff:
A--5---------5--------5----------------3-4-5--
D-----0-0------0-0------0-5-6-7-0-----------

G--2---2---2---2---3---2---4------6---
D--0---0----0--0---0---0---6------7---

D--------------------------------------------

The 6-4-6 chord, although it starts off right soon changes and I'm not quite sure how to play it. I've got an idea but wanna see how other people play it

If you mean the pre-chorus, just don't play the A string. It's almost impossible otherwise

Does anyone have a tab of the heavier part of Hoodoo handy? Musewiki and almost all the tabs on ultimate guitar seem to think that there's only an intro and an outro for guitar. If no one has it already figured out I'll just listen to it a few times and watch what Chris does on H.A.A.R.P. Just wanted to check before working it out :)

In the last chorus of exo politics(3:25) as soon as that kicks in I hear a 2nd guitar, I can not find tabs for it, because I dont think everyone can hear it. Use headphones see if you can hear it. Anyone?

I thought the higher bit was just done on the d string instead of the D if that makes sense, that's how I always do it.

I'll have a go at this in a few minutes. Not sure the solo will be that easy to transcribe (can't really hear parts of it), but I'll give it a try

Oh, and also, what does everyone play for the new born verses? from what I remember, the tab book doesn't have any of the guitar parts for that.

Um its the same Chords repeated 4 times:

7 x x 7 x x 7 x x 7 x x
8 x x 8 x x 8 x x 8 x x
9 x x 9 x x 9 x x 9 x x ( This Pattern and then swap it out for the following) :

7 7 7 7 7 8 7 7
8 7 8 7 8 8 8 7 -------- x 4
9 8 9 8 9 9 7 8

I hope the formatting doesn't screw up

Close, but I play it something like this:

e|-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B|-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
G|-10-10-10-----------------------10-10-10------------------------------
D|--------------12-12-12-----------------------12-12-12-----------------
A|---------------------------12-12----------------------------12-12--------
D|-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

e|------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B|------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
G|-10-10-10------9-9-9-----------------------9-9-9---------------------------
D|--------------12----------10-10-10------------------10-10-10--------------
A|-----------------------------------------10-10----------------------10-10-----
D|------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

e|----------------------------------------------------
B|---------------------------------------------------
G|-7-7-7------------------7-7-7------------------
D|---------8-8-8------------------8-8-8----------
A|-----------------10-10-----------------10-10--
D|----------------------------------------------------

e|--------------------------------------------------------------
B|--------------------------------------------------------------
G|-7-7-7----7-7-7------------------7-7-7-----------------
D|---------8----------7-7-7------------------7-7-7---------
A|-----------------------------8-8---------------------8-8---
D|--------------------------------------------------------------

Then it goes again for a second time, then Bellamy seems to play the last bit like this:

e|----------------------------------------------------------
B|----------------------------------------------------------
G|-7-7-7----7-7-7------------------7-7-7-7-7-7-----
D|---------8----------7-7-7----------7-7-7-7-7-7-----
A|-----------------------------8-8-----8-8-8-8-8-8-----
D|-----------------------------------------------------------

He plays the last chords a few times then goes into the chorus.

EDIT: I hadn't seen JP4560's post which is essentially the same thing I tabbed, sorry about that.

When muse performed at glastonbury last year the resistance intro with matt's double neck guitar was so much better than the previous intro.Has anyone tried to tab it for single neck and doable without the sustainer. If anyone has the tab please post it here because i've tried everywhere but couldn't find in on the internet or any cover on youtube.

I still doubt it will work unless you somehow had a separate slide for several fingers... I guess you could just play the chords tremolo picked with a ton of delay like the old intro had?

First, it's worth noting that he might be mixing an octave pedal with the whammy set on -1 octave harmonizer, but I believe it's something like

E--
B--
G--17---------------------15--16
D------------15--16--17---------
A----15--18----------------------
C--

Then go down one octave...

E--
B--
G--5---------------------3--4
D------------3--4--5--------
A----3--6--------------------
C--

Then ANOTHER octave...

E--
B--
G--
D--
A----3------------------1--2--
C-------0--3--5--6--7--------

I think that's correct anyway. As I said, he's using a whammy pedal on -1 harmonizer and possibly an octave pedal, but it's hard to say.

Yeah I remember that :awesome:

He's definitely using the whammy pedal set on the harmonizer one octave below, but I'm not sure if he's using anything else...it almost sounds like he goes down four octaves, but I might be wrong.

New here. I've been racking my brain and trying to figure out something in Plug In Baby. Something in the chorus to be specific. I try no to rely on tabs TOO much but I had to for this one and none of them are completely correct.

This is pretty much accurate.
http://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/m/muse/plug_in_baby_tab.htm

There's a tab request thread by the way, this'll probably end up there.

Everythign but the Bm/F# part in the chorus is pretty much on the money. The first time around I think it's just an F#. The second time it's the F#7aug and F#7 riff but the 3rd time something sounds different (mostly in the upper registers, itould be a second guitar but I'm not sure) and I can't figure it out. The root of the chord is an F# but I just don't know what he's playing on the album and it's driving me crazy. I'm almost 100% positive it's not the Bm/F# though. I've seen this:

G--6--
D--4--
A--4--
E------

But I'm totally convinced that's right either. If anyone can help me I'd be eternally grateful! :D

Also in the above mentioned tab there's no A chord right before the D at the end of the chorus. Just thought I'd point it out.

B ---3-----3-2----2-3--------
G -----4-4----3-3-------------

It's not perfect but hopefully you can work it out from that.

I think the tab book said it goes like this:

B|--3--3--3--3--2--2--2--2--|--
G|--3--3--3--3--3--3--3--3--|--
D|--4--4--4--4--4--4--4--4--|--
A|--------------------------------|--
E|--2--2--2--2--2--2--2--2--|--

But in that video it sounds like he's just playing this:

E|----------------------
B|--3-----3--2--------
G|-----3---------------
D|----------------------
A|----------------------
E|----------------------

Basically there's loads of different versions that Matt's done live. The easiest probably is the studio version. If your amp has reverb, get loads of that going, and then wiggle the whammy (I like that Alex :pope: ). With the fuzz setting/distortion ofc

EDIT: Where did the physics talk from anyway? Soon as I saw the mention of physics, rms and sound waves suddenly popped into my head

Indeed, but I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out which chords, I only started playing just over half a year ago so I don't have much of an ear for notes yet :P... and when I've tried to figure them out with tabs of album version it doesn't seem to work quite right.

Are you finding that the first few chords are fine but later it doesn't? If so then your whammy-ing could be knocking your guitar out-of-tune. If not then just try what Dominic said.

Matt uses a guitar that is half a step down to record, he starts on the 9th fret on the first guitar note of the song (would be 8th fret on standard tuning). You can see it on the Making of 2nd Law video.

Also, I am in the process of tabbing animals, do you mean this clean solo part? The tab below is for Standard Tuning, with the low E dropped to Eb (necessary to play the riff at the end of the song).

Not really asking for a tab, but I'm trying to figure out if these are the correct chords for the chorus of muse's version of sign o the times

E--11
B--9
G--8
D--10
A
C

E--8
B--9
G--10
D--10
A
C

E--10
B--8
G--10
D--10
A
C

E
B--11
G--10
D--8
A
C

any thoughts? I'm not sure about the 3rd one mainly.

I'm also interested in this. He's actually going up the fretboard where as the chords normally would be played going downward. I've tried searching the web for alternative ways to play G, F and Bb but to no luck, but the best video to watch could maybe be the one at jools.

Hi guys I found a tab on UG.com for Micro Cuts, i think it is the only accurate one as the other tab for Micro Cuts on there has the the first part of the chorus tabbed as

D-555555554444444455555555
A-555555550000000055555555
D-555555550000000055555555

this seems too simple, as does the rest of the chorus in general on that particular tab, the accurate tab ive found shows this for the first part

e-66666666--------------66666666
B-88888888--------------88888888
G-77777777--------------77777777
D-555555550000000055555555
A-555555550000000055555555
D-555555554444444455555555

however, for a later part in the chorus, the same tab also shows this, which seems impossible to frett due to the apparent need for 5 available fingers to frett, not 4:

e-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10
B-9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9
G-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12
D-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12
A-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10

I don't know if it's just me, but I find it impossible to frett this :( any ideas?

Dominic.

I do 5-5-5-7 and 0-0-4-7 for the first two chords, will get baack to you on the fingering on the others later (hurr) since I don't have a guitar near me at the moment

The tab book made a mistake.

It's just a simple G minor chord. Move the 9 to 11.

e-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10
B-11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11
G-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12
D-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12
A-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10

This is not accurate at all, you'll hear it if you play along.
G 0h3--0h3--3/5--5/7--9--10--10--10--8--7--8---8--8--7--5--7--7--7--5--3--5--5--3--1--0
And then the same an octave higher, also on the G string.

e-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10

D-12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12
A-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10

So it was just that tiny tiny mistake that put me off from learning the song for a long time? Damn...

Aha, i skipped learning the chorus and learned the intro/verse riff, bridge and solo, the mistake with that chord couldnt put me off learning such a cool song, it is by far one of the most fun Muse songs to play on guitar

Does anyone have tab for the space dementia outro from Reading 2011? Would be nice to know as I've just finished learning the entire piano song, and switching to guitar for the outro would be good fun. Thanks

I'm currently doing a guitar cover of Space Dementia (the whole song, not just the outro) unusual idea i know, and i was wondering if anyone had any ideas fr the verse, as just strumming the chords doesnt seem good enough, is there perhaps a tab that can correctly "translate" the feel of the way it's played on piano to guitar?
