Me too, they have some beautiful tunes. I think I started a thread on the last board, but no one else liked them.
I love the lyrics, there is some great humour in them.

I like Grandaddy myself, but if you have heard the song and seen the video for "Nature Anthem"...well I think they have inadvertently made an anthem that will forever be played at furry conventions.

Grandaddy are one of the few bands i play addictively. You can sit back, chill and enjoy. Stray dog and the chocolate shake has to be one of my all time favourites. It has great lyrics, "But the guy in the drivers seat don't care. With his weird cologne and his magic hair, its magic!". I like's what i like's. And i like Grandaddy.

as far as Grandaddy albums there's.....
The Broken Down comforter collection
Under the Western Freeway
The Sophtware Slump
Sumday
Just Like the Fambly Cat
Concrete Dunes (collection of older stuff, a large part from the first 2 albums)
Below the Radio (collection of other artists tracks bought together by the band, a great listen all apart from Run by snow patrol D: )
only EPs I have : Signal to snow and Todd Zilla but there are many others.
Greatly missed, one of my favourite all time bands.

Concrete Dunes was just basically an extension of Broken Down Comforter Collection that some label released without the bands permission - comes with three extra songs and a slightly alternated tracklist - however i picked this one up instead cause i couldn't find BDCC.. sorry grandaddy:LOL:

I've got it. Brilliant CD!
Elevate myself and Jeez Louise are the stand out tracks for me sofar!!
The last track is also very moving with the lyrics "I'll never return" repeated over and over. Obviously mirroring how the band are breaking up :'( :(
Oprah Noodlemantra
31-05-2006, 06:49 AM
Elevate myself is so catchy.. i had the lyrics in my head for quite a whlle afterwards
but i really like 'Summer is gone', and i agree that the last track is very moving.. too bad they've broken up i would have liked to have heard some of those tracks live:(

I think it's my favourite Grandaddy album. There are so many great tracks on it: Jeez Louise, Rear View Mirror, The Animal World, Elevate Myself, Disconnecty...
It's a quality swansong.
Their breakup will be a real loss, but it will be interesting seeing what sort of stuff Jason Lytle eventually comes out with.

29-07-2008, 08:52 PM
AM 180 that was it, and the song was called "Grandaddy". Awesome song though. I listen to it regulary as it's one of the top songs in my list, alphabetically (because of 28 days later), and simply can't resist the urge to listen to it before I put the list on random.

Strangely enough he played a pub here last night, had no idea it was him playing til halfway through his set, must have been subliminal messaging or summat occuring. Twas the PR dudes booking and first time I've seen him in a year or so .
Really nice chilled stuff, don't know if I'd pay full whack to see it though, sounds pretty thin which loses the overall effect of the music, but may have just been the venue. Album sounds a lot better.

Heavily looking forward to listening to their later albums :)
