View Full Version : Now that the BH&R Tour is coming to an end... how many times have you seen Muse live?

mr.jingles
30-11-2007, 04:32 PM
...including all the gigs Muse has performed through their entire career, not just while promoting BH&R.

Also please free to post which one has been your best gig memory, and if you had any bad experiences that could have ruined a particular show for you.

Four.

19/12/04 - Earls Court
-----
22/08/06 - Eden Project
11/11/06 - Manchester MEN
16/06/07 - Wembley Stadium

I think in terms of enjoyment, Eden wins. Best setlist goes to Manchester MEN just, Earls Court had an awesome setlist but didn't have City Of Delusion, Showbiz, Take A Bow, Map Of The Problematique and Knights Of Cydonia.

Wembley was awesome but just wasn't really awesome.

Twenty-two!

Hard to pick a favorite; bits and pieces of shows stand out, like Matthew grinning and dancing during his SS Outro at Madison Square Garden, or Citizen Erased in Austin 5/05 (what a weekend that was!), but overall the Wembley Stadium shows have to be tops, if only for being such epic events!

Worst: having to be pulled out of the pit at Vegas, due to a bee-otch behind me who was succeeding in implanting her elbows into my kidneys. (I think I kicked her pretty hard as I went up and over, oh so sorry sweetie....) The worst part was that Tom Kirk commented on my ignominious hoisting when I ran into him after the show!:$

End Fest - Enumclaw WA - 2004 This one sucked because I had 2nd level seats, they played 4th on the bill in the middle of the day, plus I really didn't know their music very well yet.

Seattle - Paramount - 10-4-06 Shitty seats (my son and I got the last 2 tickets, literally!) but they were phenomenal! Great setlist! Again still didn't know all thier songs yet - this is where the obsession started.

Seattle - Key Arena - 9-9-07 Favorite show, front row seats - excellent set list, half my family was there to enjoy it with me and the band was spot on sound wise.

Portland - Theater in the clouds - 9-10-07 Again great set list

Vegoose - 10-28-07 Loved Muse, will never do floor again! Loved my Muse buddies, but not the wall of asshole guys in front of us. Couldn't fully enjoy the show.

Hey Disco, don't write off the pit just because of a few AH's---and remember, most of those nutcases at Vegoose were there to see Rage, so naturally the crowd was a bit wild! I had one horrid experience too, also in Vegas (is there a pattern here...?), and got pretty squashed in Austin and a couple other gigs, but in the end it was so worth it! I was in the pit at Key, and on the barrier at Theater of the Clouds, which was heaven! So next time, in Seattle, you're coming with me---let the old broad protect you, you have to experience Muse from the front row at least once!

How olds are your Muser kids? BTW you are an official MuseMom now, since you and your kids go to Muse gigs together!

(Actually I think Muse played 2nd, after Metric, at EndFest; they said it was because their setup was so elaborate. They were waaaaayy better than the so-called headliners, it must have been embarrassing for the other bands, if they had been sober, which they weren't!)

Yeah, the Paramount setlist was great: Muscle Museum! Why has that become such a rarity! And the crowd-boating aliens during Forced In was hilarious!

wow i thought my muse count of 5 gigs was special but someones seen them 22 times? jesus! im so so jealous!

um... well i saw them first at Big Day Out Gold Coast in 2004 then again at the Riverstage in Brisbane the same year, then saw them at Big Day Out Gold Coast in January this year, then travelled to Sydney the next day to see them again at a BDO side show, and just recently saw them for the 5th time at Riverstage in Brisbane...

i cant pick a favourite show because everytime i've seen them they gotten better and better, its pretty amazing to see a band evolve and improve on themselves...... everytime i see them i cant help but wonder how the hell they can possibly top the show ive just seen, but they always manage to blow their previous shows out of the water, aw, just thinking about them now is giving me warm fuzzy feelings...!

(im about to post this link in another thread but if you want to see my most recent photos and videos head to this link =) http://s99.photobucket.com/albums/l296/doofdoof_/muse%2021%20nov%2007/ )

Although I have actually seen them 5 times, but I don't count the 2004 BDO since I didn't know their songs there and didn't see all of the set. I was blown away by what I saw though and it made me a Muse fan.

I've seen them twice, both this year. First time was as an opening act back in April, and again in August at the Patriot Center. Both times were extremely fun, but I wish that they could have done a full set in April. Still, it was great, and I can't wait until they come around here again .

02 Aug 2006 / Bank of America Pavilion - Boston, USA
My first Muse gig had to be quite a memorable gig. I got 16th row on floor seats. After listening to 'Knights Of Cydonia' on the radio, I wasn't too impressed with it, but experiencing the song live made me fall in love with it.

03 Aug 2006 / Hammerstein Ballroom - New York, NY, USA
The next day I took a flight back to NY, and I went to this gig with a friend. I enjoyed it more because the sound was better.

10 Sep 2006 / Agora Theatre - Cleveland, OH, USA
This might be the worst Muse gig I've been to. Muse's performance was flawless as usual, but as some of you I also nearly had the show ruined for me by a bunch of douche bags. I managed to become one of the first people to stay in line since the early afternoon only to have a bunch of assholes behind me pushing to steal the spot I grabbed in front row.
On a positive note. I got to meet the guys during the after show meet & greet. The 3 of them signed my poster.

06 Aug 2007 / Madison Square Garden - New York City, NY, USA
First Muse gig at America's most legendary venue. It was truly special to hear 'Unintended' for the first time.

11 Aug 2007 / Agganis Arena - Boston, MA, USA
I turned my wife into a fan at this gig.

18 Sep 2007 Red Rocks Amphitheatre Denver, CO, USA
BEST MUSE GIG EVER! Beautiful atmosphere at an awesome venue and I got to be front row. The venue is made of steps, so nobody is pushing you out of your spot.

Well unfortunately I've only seen them on the BH&R tour.

13 times.

Newcastle - My 1st gig so it was very special, despite being seated upper far right.

San Francisco - Brilliant! Probably my best gig. My 1st gig standing, and near the front. Even having to fight my way out of the pit after Hysteria didn't spoil it for me.

Los Angeles. - Brilliant! 2nd row from front. Very close 2nd to San Francisco.

Wembley (Sat) - My worst gig. Seated upper right . Too far away and the sound wasn't great.

Wembley (Sun) - Better, as I was in the Golden Circle, but too far right to get a good view.

Paris - Standing, but too far back. Enjoyed the show though.

Monaco - Great show, great crowd.

Verona - Fantastic venue, but seated too far back.

New York and Fairfax were just brilliant!

Philadelphia - Outside gig which I'm not to keen on, but a smaller crowd made it more intimate.

Boston - Front row seat! But felt awkward because of that.

Stockholm - Brilliant as usual! I made the most of that one as it was my last. :(

10/11/06 - M.E.N Arena - My first Muse gig, so very special!

11/11/06 - M.E.N Arena - My favourite. I got barrier. We heard Showbiz, Citizen Erased, got the first ever playing of City of Delusion in the UK, and I held Matt's guitar when he threw it into the crowd. :D

14/11/06 - N.E.C Arena - Barrier. We threw the Teddy / Letter for Dom at the end of the show and saw him pick it up!

22/11/06 - Wembley Arena - My first and only seated Muse gig. A whole different experience, but it was fantastic. They played BH&R in order, and closed with Stockholm Syndrome!!

23/11/06 - Wembley Arena - Had a really fun time, but got pushed over, hit in the face, I hurt my knee, and lost my voice. A great gig, but a bad experience...

16/06/07 - Wembley Stadium - Golden Circle. Just amazing. So many Muse fans in the same place...

17/06/07 - Wembley Stadium - Golden Circle. Finally got to hear Sing for Absolution!! Bliss just topped that show too!

I know I need to see Muse from the front! I'd love to go with you guys! Unfotunately, my little boy who LOVES Muse almost as much as I do is only 11, seriously, he is mayby 4'9 and seriously only weighs 63 pounds (he eats like a pig too!) so taking him into the would be suicidal. My daughter doesn't really like them but she wants to see them at least once (I told her I would take her next time they come) Shes 15 but taller then me.

About Endfest, we still laugh about Echo. Dang, how drunk was that man! And Karen O going AFTER Muse !?!?!! She sounded so horrible my sister actualy got up and left because she sounded like a cat getting it's tail run over!

I actually watched the "Forced In" performance the other day. I didn't realize that Matt was just sitting back in the drum riser w/ Dom the whole time. That was thier last show together so I guess the Like had to do something special, right?

That was one of the most amazing things about Wembley weekend: so many Muse fans in the same place! An entire town full of Musers; our hotel completely full of Musers, Muse shirts in the elevator, Muse shirts on the street and in the bar and at the ATM and everywhere!

We need Muse Fest!

By the time Muse come back to Seattle, your son will be 12 or 13; I'll have my big boys show him how it's done! And if your daughter experiences a Muse concert, especially from right down front, she will be a fan for life!

The crowdboating was so hilarious, and maybe the funniest thing was the usually stolid Chris laughing so hysterically that he could barely play! Hard to see in the clip, but from my angle is was too funny!

(I think I kicked her pretty hard as I went up and over, oh so sorry sweetie....) The worst part was that Tom Kirk commented on my ignominious hoisting when I ran into him after the show!:$

OMG, 22! You're so lucky. But may I ask how you do it? Surely its a given you love to travel; as I do, although I have little $ to do so right now.

I saw them twice here in NYC (Hammerstein in '06 and MSG this past Aug). Matt was full of smiles at the MSG show, which was epic for sure. I was hoping for a third around New Years, but alas it appears as if its not meant to be... I just got my schedule and I'm working overnight New Years anyway. If they schedule a gig now I'll die!

Tbh, not taking anything away from you guys, but for me less is more. I don't honestly think I could enjoy 29 Muse shows in one year.

I saw them at three pretty well spaced intervals on the BH&R tour, each featuring a different stage setup and each show was fab. I'd love to have seen them post-Wembley though, sometime in the USA in September or on the Aussie tour, great setlists and sounding better then ever (+ I love the current stage setup, simple = better).

You can definitely tell theres been a change in mind set post Wembley Stadium. I saw them at Wembley arena back in Nov 2006 and it was all very straight to the point, play the songs and thats it (Not a bad thing though, they were very full of energy start of the BHaR tour), then I saw them at Wembley Stadium, again different mind set, they were obviously thinking "Fuck we've made it this far, lets just go as over the top as possible" then I saw them in Oslo in October. The Sound was so different to how they were back at Wembley Arena last year, and all the riffage between songs, and you could see that they were very laid back and relaxed about it and having a good time (Matt and Dom Grinning at each other alot :D), which is the Muse I prefer. Set list was one of their infamous clones but still, It was great to see that side to Muse that Wembley Arena and Stadium didnt show.

Helen T didn't see them 29 times in one year, if you look at her list; the shows date back to 2002. I have seen them 22 times since 2004, but not all in one year, and I agree, it's nice to kind of space the shows out. I went to the 1st 3 US BH&R shows, then a couple more that fall, then a last minute trip to France to visit Sylvie and see 3 more...then April, then Wembley, then 3 more in Aug/Sept. And now, no more concerts on the books, since it is virtually impossible to get tix for Almost Acoustic Christmas....

No chance of me getting bored! I can honestly say I loved every single show for different reasons. I didnt discover Muse until June last year so I was simply making up for lost time. Also, it gave me a good excuse to travel. And, of course, there's all the people I met up with along the way. I've had the bet year ever, and I wouldnt change a thing. Except, I'd like to do it all again next year!!

29 times. Reading festival was my favourite. Closely followed by the 2 Wembley Stadium shows

Helen, didn't realise it was that many!!! Do you think they'll do that many concerts in a year again for you to beat your record???

I've seen them 10 times:

Wembley - 2003
V Festival - 2004
Earls Court - 2005 twice
Reading 2006
Barcelona - 2006
Wembley - 2006 twice
Wembley Stadium - 2007
Paris - 2007

Would love to have seen them more, but couldn't afford for the whole family to go away - too expensive!!!

Exactly. You dont know because you havent done it. The day I start getting bored or not enjoiying the shows so much will be the day I stop going to so many. At the moment, I'm having the time of my life and I see no reason to stop.

I can assure you, I'm perfectly sane too... :)

I've been quite restrained this year. Then again, I've had to be because of money. I had a flight booked to Nice and a ticket for the gig in Monaco and even my hotel was booked and paid for - but when the time came, I couldn't afford to get to the airport! I lost all that money because I was short of £20.

That would have been gig 47.

I booked flights to Kiev and had a ticket secured for that gig. My friend couldn't come and I didn't want to fly there on my own. I lost about £150 there.

That would have been gig 48.

Also I gave away a ticket for Wembley Arena (gig 49) and I went to one in Wolverhampton but got the train home half an hour before Muse came on. Despite being at the venue with my ticket (my 'friend' abandoned me and I had nowhere to stay so I figured I'd go get the last train) (gig 50).

So, I would have seen them a lot more if I didn't give away tickets/go home....

Your wembley arena ticket went to a good home. Thanks again for that :)

Well, Helen, I guess you are as sane as any of us, for what that's worth!!!

My only wish, that some have mentioned, would be more variety in the setlists, mix it up a bit, though admittedly that is hard to do with all the visuals to coordinate, etc. And also, it would be sweet for them to throw in more songs from earlier CD's, and some B-sides too; even "standards" like Muscle Museum are rarities live now.

The only reason I've seen them so many times this tour is because I love travelling.. living in a shithole like this you kinda have to :p

And seeing as we barely get any gigs here when I fly I try to coordinate with gigs I want to go to. And seeing as I'm already abroad I might as well go to more than 1, at the end of the day what costs the most is the actual flight and stay rather than the gig tickets.

The only thing I'm sorry about is that I went to see Muse in April instead of RATM... I was in the US already and could make it.. but then I wouldn't have reached the East Coast so :(

You absulutely must, if you can! It really is a lot of fun. Expensive, tireing but a lot of fun. I've been to places I'd have never thought of going to this year, thanks to Muse, and had the time of my life.

And someone said there are other gigs to go to. Very true. I've been to a few others as well. I've seen Kasabian 5 times this year, Kaiser Chiefs twice, The Killers twice, Manics, Prince and Mika as well as one festival.

Oh and being a big F1 fan I also managed to fit the British Grand Prix in there as well.

Then I saw them at T In The Park in 04, again, with Citizen Erased! Then one of the first live dates of BH&R dates at T On The Fringe, where Matt stopped TIRO because his guitar was "fucked". It was pretty amazing, actually. Then saw them in Newcastle on BH&R tour...then Wembley 16th. Fucking incredible. The pick of the dates for me...might actually be Newcastle, because it was in *my* hometown and it was all so awesome (Dom coming out of that massive drum thing...amazing). But Wembley was actually awe-inspiring. Can't decide!

I became a fan in the oos-times but I've never seen them live in that period. Too bad actually cause it's still my favourite album.

Brixton 2001
Brighton
Earls Court x 2
Wembley arena x 2
Wembley stadium x 2

It's sad :(

Brixton was probably the most awesome but the two arena gigs were pretty good...

Auckland BDO 07 = most amazing festival of my life, thanks to Muse.

The crowd went absolutely nuts after they opened with KoC. Matt looked bewildered and said "Thank you!". Chris was wide eyed and said "Thank you!". I couldn't see Dom's face but he stood up and shouted into his snare microphone "YOU GUYS FUCKING ROCK!"

:P
