They're HERE.
THEY'RE here.
14th of August.
But I'm not 18 yet, so I can't come.
Why, FFS?
I really don't understand it. Is there something extremely erotic about their shows, such as massive beastiality orgies on the stage? Because otherwise I simply don't understand.
All of those people at the ticket offices are arses.
Sarah
27-07-2004, 07:57 PM
Maybe it's to do with the recent show at T in the Park & his nakedness? Or perhaps that about 80% of the setlist is about smut. Or maybe because they discuss it on stage.. a bit.

I dislike the band, yes, but I do find them to be a very talented bunch that put alot of effort into the album.
Sarah
29-07-2004, 12:25 AM
Elitist bullshit!
They may make pop music but that doesn't make the unlistenable, the only thing that may make them unlistenable is you just dislike what they make! They are popular, so what. It's a bloody good thing. Better them than someone that would depress everyone into weeping in their beer! At least people can have a dance to it & they make make music that sounds not to dissimilar to Elton John/Bee-Gees/Prince but, like all of those other acts, they are a band that perform a live disco to a thousand or more everytime they take the stage. They have just as much right to be listened to as the newest band out of Berlin. They make damn good music for a change. Bet you hate Toxic by Britney Spears because she sings it even though it is a FANTASTIC song. Single of the year, maybe.
It's a good thing to have a diversity in what you listen to rather than a collection that is 100% morbid. You know? There is lots of styles & music other than Joy Division & Radiohead!
I, for one, will be attending their next tour. They put on a brilliant show in April & I had a lot of fun dancing & singing along to the DJ set before & the actual set. I was discussing them before & the change in size of arena. I was right! They deserve it & yeah. Woo!

Your entire post carried on from the first sentence as far as I can see, even after you have claimed it was sarcasm. Oh & sarcasm is the lowest form of humour, not wit. Another thing about sarcasm, it's all in the tone of voice & I can't hear your voice right now because it doesn't work on the 'net unless I know you/whoever is "talking" to me. The face looks like shock & nothing else, I haven't really studied them to see whether their usage would mean "sarcasm" or not. Oh & I don't keep a track-record of who the hell you are or what you listen to. Don't flatter yourself.

I never said you did, I just said that everything I say to you seems to be taken in the wrong way. I went on to say they're a talented band which they are and I assumed people would get that when I said that pop was unlistenable, sarcasm was taken in. Fuck off with changing 'wit' to humour, nitpicking for anything, because that's rediculous because wit makes perfect sense. Even if I assumed that you might know me - how is that flattering myself?! I know tonnes of regulars, which is what I am and I'm not going to say I don't to seem like I'm above everyone because I do not take the time to remember a silly name from a post or two. I know you don't keep a track record, but a memory is a completely different thing.

Funny, you should say that because I find that most of the music I love is "whiny rock". Emo I guess is what it's called or glam. I haven't been able to turn very many onto Muse because they are just to intense. Some say...whiny. I am ga gaa over Muse. I will travel far to see this band. They are the shit especially live. I have so much respect for a band that can pull it off live and go beyond.

I love to see Muse in small intimate venues. Absolution tour was amazing! I got to see Muse in a very quaint small venue. In fact Matt said it was the smallest they had played in. It was after he split his lip. I was panicking that they would have to cancel. Many of my friends played pool with the band afterwards. I'm a dumb ass and left. I never want to seem like a groupie or fawning fan. But I am! :p

I don't think their second album was too amazing. Transistor should have made the cut, and they should have dropped Paul Mccartney and Everybody Wants The Same Thing. Oh and Land Of A Thousand Words should have closed the album. With those changes the album would have been pretty awesome. Love The Other Side and Might Tell You Tonight. Should have been singles.
Haven't heard the album for almost a month now. Think I shall go listen again. :D

My sister saw them on Monday night, she said it was amazing and she highly reccomends to anyone who likes them to go see them. She said she was concerned about the amount of kids in the audience esp since the Scissor Sisters arnt really a kids kinda group, they do have sparkle and all things kids love but the content in their albums are not really for children. But yea she said that Ana mentioned that they love England because A. No-one judges them and B. we have so many music festivals in one year.
I'm going with my sister next time they come to Manchester, I don't care what my dr says I'm gonna see them or Muse if I have to make myself ill doing so.

Fake Jake was bloody good, but a bit too OTT (I know, like, OMG is that possible?!). Haha. He took the piss a bit during Mary, which didn't impress me, considering what that song is about. Too many jokes too; I always took the Scisstors as a very serious band. Even though they are fun, if that makes sense?

Yeah, I know what you mean...nothing ticks me off more than to hear "oh, yeh--they're a gay band" or the oh-so-common "they're camp as hell"...I mean, yeah, some of the band are gay (and o.c. some aren't) but WTF--does that mean they can't write great songs? Is there a better song than Return to Oz out there for ex? It's got depth, I think it's almost epic in its way...and think about Better Luck Next Time...when I first heard this, it grabbed me at once--it exactly chimed with my situation at the time, having met someone and not made a move to get to know them better--and then the moment was gone! :(
So yes, fun--and OK camp too, somewhat--but serious too...and damn good songwriters to boot! :)

Yeah--something like that (thanks Gemsy :p) No really--I could easily +1 that, Sis! :)
I have thought about it really--and I'm not going to write one of my essays here, lol (I know you'll all be glad to hear that)...at first I used to skip this track--now I look forward to it when it comes up after Take Your Mama--it still surprises me then, it's so completely different from the first two tracks on the record...and though I keep hearing what a great dance track it is (and you can easily imagine it cranked up in a club and everybody in the place bebopping to it) I experience it in a more delicate way...I think it's the guitar that opens it does that...and talk about "completely different", it's miles away from the somber ballad that it was to begin with (and I still love the original...)
Damn--I still wrote an essay...well, you gotta write it the way you have to--it's me!

I LOVE IT.
Honestly. It's the best Pink Floyd cover I've ever heard. I wish the shitty Pink Floyd fans I've spoken to would realise that the only good covers are the ones that sound nothing like the originals. People who criticise it because it doesn't sound like the original obviously don't get the point of cover versions, really. I find it funny when people criticise it for being nothing like Pink Floyd's song but then go on to acclaim Hendrix's Bob Dylan covers!
Now we just need Pink Floyd to do a cover of I Don't Feel Like Dancin' to see if the Scissor Sisters' fans would have a similar uproar.

It would actually be a brilliant idea! It would create nice levels of hatred between the narrower hardcore fans of each band, and maybe even spawn a lame modern version of mods vs. rockers.
If PF did reunite and recorded, covers would be the way forward because there would be no creative friction between Waters and Gilmour!

Most intriguing...you're onto something here...I wonder if it's that tone from the original that helps the SS cover--already "seriously fun" in its own right--that much...darker?

Be very fun to see how something like this would change not only the dynamic of the new Floyd (and the creative synergy of Waters/Gilmour) but also the identity of their fandom...and you gotta wonder, would they be duking it out at gigs and in the music press?

I heard rumors about this on the Scissor board last year but there weren't any details at the time--just that Jake and BD had always wanted to do a musical and they were talking to various producers on Broadway about it--even had some songs written too, that were eventually used on Ta-Dah instead...
This should be awesome--these guys are such great songwriters, I don't see how they could lose provided they get a good book/script to flesh out the thing...WOOOOOOO :p

I love them! Got into them since they used their song 'I Can't Decide' in an episode of Doctor Who and even though I still love that song, I think 'She's My Man' and 'Kiss You Off' are even better. Especially 'She's My Man'. I have that on repeat all the time. Love them!
