Hallelujah- Jeff Buckley
Hurt- Johnny Cash
Blackout- Muse
Nothing compares 2u- Sinead O'Connor
Jealous- Sinead O' Connor
Here With Me- Dido
My Lovers gone- Dido

Me and a gun- Tori Amos

Hurt- Johnny Cash

As much as that version is great, the Nine Inch Nails version could, if in the correct mood, make me weep like a little child.

Radiohead almost made me cry when they played Exit Music (For A Film) in London last year. Brilliant song. <3

Your Song (After the Storm Scene) - From the Moulin Rouge Soundtrack
Ballade No.1 in G Minor, op.23 - Chopin
Lacrimosa from 'Requiem' - Mozart.....ooooh which just came on shuffle, how creepy!
Megalomania - Muse

Pretty much anything when I'm in the right mood though. Honestly, I cried at 'Hey Arnold' once...

I'd have to have severe PMT for a song to make me actually cry, but these songs are very powerful, especially on headphones in the dark ....

Dinner at Eight - Rufus Wainwright

Johnny Cash's version of Hurt

Love Hurts, as covered by Eddi Reader for "Tutti Frutti"

Ribcage - Elbow

Juuso

I believe there's quite alot of songs that could make me cry when heard live (I'd probably be in tears if I ever managed to see RATM ), but the only thing I can remember crying to is Zen Cafe's Piha Ilman Sadettajaa

There's probably more, but I can't remember.

I forgot Map of your head.

That makes you cry?

Well Hoodoo made me shed a tear when I first listened to it and I agree with Sinead O'Connor especially whilst watching the video.

A lot of Enya makes me cry her voice is so soft theres a certain song with chimes and I can't remember the name of it

Hope of the States- Me ves y sufres is truely one of the most saddest, depressing songs I have ever heard

Radiohead- Street Spirit also makes me a tad emotional though haven't heard it in a long time.

Sting- Shape of my heart, It reminds me of the end of Leon :'(

And some Sigur Ros too can't remember names of songs lol

Oh how can I leave out Jeff Buckley!? *slaps head* More or less the whole of Grace his voice is just beyond beauty and brilliance

Oh and Gary Jules- Mad world, I keep rushing back to edit my post

Does it make you cry??? :stunned:
I don't think any song makes me cry, except it I hear it in a special situation. For instance, if Muse played Ruled by Secrecy at the very end of a gig, I think I'd cry a little bit.

I find that's a good song to be angry whilst listening to :D

Luv by Travis makes me cry though, but more because it reminds me of my first girlfriend than anything else.

Retread by Embrace has the same effect.

I'd only ever cry because of a song if I was already in a bit of an over emotional state.

I've never heard a song that would upset me purely by listening to it, even if the lyrics are relevant. Although listening to ASMZ does tend to make me think about things too much :(

Life on Mars?
Hey Jupiter by Tori Amos.
Arcade Fire. All their songs.
Long Live The Queen by Frank Turner (seriously, check that one out).
Hurt by NIN when I hear it live.

I cried all the way through Radiohead's set when I saw them. But I think that was more because I'd waited 13 years to see them.
A coupla Chilis songs made me cry when I first saw them live but not anymore - they're now on my shitlist for being shit.
And, somewhat embarrassingly, All I Want For Christmas Is You. For some reason, the melody just gets me.

I've never actually cried while listening to a song, but these make me almost lose it:
"Hyper Chondriac Music" - Muse
"Hoodoo" - Muse
"Too Much Love Will Kill You" - Queen
"Me Vs. Maradona Vs. Elvis" - Brand New

I can't think of any more off the top of my head right now...

Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley

That one gets me kind of teary-eyed. So does Rufus Wainwright's version.

Damien Rice - 9 Crimes

I haven't heard many of his songs, but the ones I have heard make me want to bawl. :'(

How to Save a Life - The Fray :$

reminds me of some bad times ive had (doesnt make me cry, just sad)

Ditto. Can't Take My Eyes Off You can make me sad. Endlessly, Hoodoo, Unintended and Soldier's Poem can also make me sad, but not cry.

Winning, by Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton can almost always make me cry because it's such a beautiful song, and I think that Emily is singing to me, telling me that everything's going to be alright, even though that may sound totally weird.

The ones that spring to mind right now are:

Who Wants to Live Forever - Queen
Great Gig in the Sky - Pink Floyd
Higher than Hope - Nightwish (actually, a lot of Nightwish songs get to me if I'm in an emotional mood :$)
Lavendar - Marillion
Blood Brothers - Iron Maiden (live at Rock in Rio, doesn't make me cry cause it's sad, it's just so fucking amazing!)

Can't think of any others at the moment!

When I saw THERAPY? live at Werchter the last time it was so early in the day, I was tired and I didn't expect them to play Long Distance (my favourite from NANE together with Dead). When they did it all became a bit much for me and I couldn't help myself.

I can't physically listen to this song- It has a really horrific personal memory attached to it and just one note of it sends me out of the room (13 years later!!). Similarly can't hear Staring at the Sun by U2 as it reminds me of the day my dad died. Both too sad and traumatic to be somewhere I can go...

Hope There's Someone-- Antony And The Johnson's
A Little Rain---- Tom Waits
The Art Teacher--- Rufus Wainwright:(

The Art Teacher- a great song;) definitely teary material.

Anyway, here's my list, and it's quite a list:

Last Goodbye- Jeff Buckley
Sweet Jane- Cowboy Junkies
Silent Sea- KT Tunstall
Perfect Blue- Lloyd Cole and the Commotions
The Chime of a city clock- Nick Drake
That joke isn't funny anymore- Smiths

and for guaranteed sobbing everytime I hear it:

I know the feeling since last December (see my post earlier) :( And the worst thing is: there are sooooo many songs that remind me of my dad now,as we often used to sit together in my room, just listening to music all night long. Good thing I can't play it otherwise I would end up with a wet keyboard  Instrumentals seems to provoke a far more emotional reaction in mel than me than actual songs.

Heh. Yes, instrumentals are far more powerful on the whole, IMO. If I were to list all the classical music that made me cry, we'd be here till 2010

I don't think I've ever cried because of music unless I felt like crying in the first place, except for a couple of very notable exceptions (below.) Usually, very emotional music just makes me feel really empty and overwhelmed, like it sucks everything out of me, replaces it with itself, and leaves me sitting there with this look on: :stunned: I feel kind of guilty about that. It makes me feel like I'm some sort of shallow, heartless person that music can't make me cry.

Places by Ours and This Joke Sport Severed by Manic Street Preachers both made me tear up when I heard them live. Those two songs are on a completely different level to me than any other songs, ever, for personal reasons. I can play them both on piano, and I feel an emotional response, but... no tears. Unless I can relate to either of them particularly well at the moment...

I've only ever cried to one song, & that was when I was quite drunk & I'd just split up with my girlfriend at the time.

Metallica - To Live is to Die

Apart from that cry inducing songs tend to just give me goosebumps down the back of my neck and back.

Mad World - Gary Jules

I don't think I've ever cried to a song but Mad World always makes me feel sad. Ever since I watched Donnie Darko, the song brings out some strong sad emotions for me.
