[The Erased Citizen]

John Frusciante (RHCP guitarist) is an extremely talented artist. His latest album is Shadows Collide With People and is far better than ANYTHING the Red Hot Chili Peppers have done IMO. His first two albums, Niandra LaDes & Usually Just a Tshirt (1994), and especially Smile From the Streets You Hold (1997) are...well, let's just say they are too inaccessible for even the 120 Minutes show on MTV2. They were recorded in the dark days of his heavy heroin use, and he himself has stated on a number of occasions that, retrospectively, he is not happy with himself as an artist and as a person during this period.

This is why I believe that To Record Only Water For Ten Days (2001) and Shadows Collide With People (2003) represent the most improved aritist of this decade. Shadows... has to be one of my all-time favourite albums ever, and I am constantly playing it. He is a truly unique artist and I don't think anybody can sonically represent the "feeling" you get from listening to music you are fond of as well as he can. His lyrics are extremely thought-provoking and I am always relating my own personal feelings, situations and experiences to his words.

There is scheduled to be six new releases all before the end of this year, the first of these called The Will to Death.Some releases will not be under John's name, such as Ataxia, his project with Joe Lally of Fugazi and Josh Klinghoffer. The other four records are all solo recordings excepting one which is an equal collaboration with Josh Klinghoffer.

My favourite tracks: The First Season, Remain, Every Person and 23gointoend.

He is definitely worth a gander, so check him out peeps...

he is very very good! i have 2 albums of him, to record only water for ten days and niandra lades. i like the last one th emost to be honest, i don't really like his voice on to record only..... last wednesday i saw him playing with the red hot chili peppers, anmd once again he was great, he did some solo's too, and he had a really good voice this time, i think his singing lesssons really did him good. i think i want to buy his last album now. or is there another labum that's better>?

He's a real musician....... He is like jimi and stevie he breaths the notes he plays. He writes how he feels..... and he makes me feel. He is a true fan of his own taste and influences.... he left the RHCP because he respected Hillel.

John is a GREAT guitarist. I've got Niandra LaDes, and though it's very inaccessible, there are some songs on it (the first three or so) that actually do rock. Sure, it's crazy, but even in an extreme heroin-franzy, Frusciante is still very good. :cool:

Hmm, what style is the latest album?
Because i always had an idea John's style was what made the Pepper's so different to what they used to be and to be honest i don't really like that style.
