They aren't a bit bad. They are fucking awful. As I read somewhere, people were so busy coming down from their acid that they thought that Oasis were fucking good. Which they aren't. They are shite. Shite propped up by a wanker & a cockhead. They haven't done any "classics" other than Wonderwall, which is still shite.

Admittedly, the cockhead does have stage presence but that is only because he gets his fucking face smashed in because he knows his bodyguards are there to back him up. Stupid fucking coward. Brings a rotten name to Manchester. Well, Burnage. We all know that nothing good has come out of that shit hole.

Think the time has come for the Greatest Hits album and retirement.

I agree!...Oasis are past it, they were great back in the 90`s then the 00`s came along the songs just when down hill and Liam was acting even more like a twat just because he thinks he could get away with it.

They should do glasto, realese a greatest hits album and cherrio

Loads of people seemed to worship them, which I can't understand... Wonderwall was passable enough, but the rest... I can definately take or leave it. Most likely leave it.

daniela
05-06-2004, 09:13 PM
theyve only lasted cos noel and liam are always fighting it out with each other/everyone else! if it wasnt for those 2 no1 would care anymore. they are so funny to watch in interviews though, slagging everyone off:D

but yeah, get out a greatest hits then fook off!

and about oasis.. there seems to be a trend with albums in general:

the first is always a classic, the second is ever better, but the third is like a train has hit it.
..muse went right off the tracks so it never had the chance to.

I think they are utter pish.
Wonderwall and all that just make me want to scream till I die.
Also, they are two of the biggest wankers ever. Racist scum.

thebeautifulgirls
13-06-2004, 05:24 PM
so it's true. oasis were the lower class wankers of their time, while blur were always mamma's boys. ...or so i gathered it to be.

I'm going to stick up for them

They should have really given it up now, but their first 2 albums are absoulte classics.

Anyway, most of you let here were probably only 4 or 5 when they were in their prime anyway - it's way before your time. :P

They were great with the first albs. But their lasts are a big shit. I like Masterplan 100 millions more than that shit of "standing on the shoulder of giants" or "heathen chemistry".

Their second album is a must one.

What's The Story Morning Glory > Oasis

They are really not that good in the end its all the same but that one album was verging on good.

thebeautifulgirls
14-06-2004, 03:34 AM
to lay it out.. it was the fact that during their days, they were coming out with material that had never been out before. this 'britpop' was in other words the voice of the lower class back then, and so the support for it would have been huge.

you all should have a listen to a few of Mellowdrone's songs.

I feel lonely, am I the only one here that has always liked Oasis' music and even the new stuff. I think it's cos I don't judge them on their general attitudes as people. I mean, I'd probably not think Muse were amazing if I judged them on the fact that Matt gave Dom concussion from his guitar then, rather than stay with him in hospital, went to a party, I'd probably think they were absolute wank! Well, actually, no that's kinda funny but my guitarist, that's right I own him, keeps requesting that he can knock me out after a gig sometime 'for a laugh', and he's starting to worry me :(

I used to think they were tolerable (Wonderwall was alright), but recently I've just begun to hate them more and more. Blur were such a better, more intelligent band (Song 2 has yet to be beaten IMO) it's a shame they were defeated by such twats. Monobrowed gits.

oasis were my original favourite band, definitely maybe being the first cd i bought
when i was younger i used to think all of the albums were amazing but now i only regularly listen to definitely maybe and what's the story morning glory. i wouldn't say the other 3 albums are bad but are just nowhere near as good as the first 2

Me too, which date? I'm off on the 9th, day after my 18th bday.

I've loved Oasis since I was 7. Their B-sides disc is better than a lot of bands' main material. Nothing will top their first two albums, but that doesn't mean that they've gone bad. Be Here Now was great, as was Heathen Chemistry. SOTSOG was a good album.

Don't Go Away is such a beautiful song and Champagne Supernova rules the earth.

Of course, that's all just my opinon...

 I love Definitely Maybe but was too young to go to gigs an' that.
The last time I had the opportunity to see them I chose to watch Muse instead and spent the entire gig shouting "fuck off Oasis!" with the rest of the crowd, hehehe. My mate Timur made me get up and go into town at 9am on a Saturday to book tickets for him (I didn't have the internet at home then) so he bought me a ticket for my troubles. Hahaha. It's the day after NIN so I'll have a nice little gig-going holiday.

On sunday night it was interesting to hear what the hardKor punks (as you put it!) hate most, and judging from the conversation it's largely hippies (although i knew that already) and Hell's Angels!

Punk 1: "They need about fucking 10 of the fuckers behind them before one can even say 'Hello'".

and come on, honestly you can't deny they've done a lot of classic songs, the fact that you don't like them is just your oppinion, and I also know I'm not gonna cange your mind about it but you HAVE to recognize that they've at least got the balls to do whatever they want weather people like it or not, and the last albums are there to proove it cause yes they didn't sell as well as the first 3 albums (might be shit, might not, imo they're not) did but they don't give a shit about it, and yes they have moved on and done different stuff and well peope don't like it anymore... too bad.... and come on, honestly you can't deny they've done a lot of classic songs, the fact that you don't like them is just your oppinion, and I also know I'm not gonna cange your mind about it but you HAVE to recognize that they've at least got the balls to do whatever they want weather people like it or not, and the last albums are there to proove it cause yes they didn't sell as well as the first 3 albums (might be shit, might not, imo they're not) did but they don't give a shit about it, and yes they have moved on and done different stuff and well peope don't like it anymore... too bad.... I do....
also yes I have to agree that the Gallagher brother are really arrogant and all that shit but they're not the only ones and you can't change them... just enjoy the music if you like it and if you don't then ignore it...
ill ignore it then.

Babyshambles were supposed to turn up, but didn't. Shambles indeed.

How is there not a thread about oasis! Go on, your views on them, and whether you think they turned shite when they released Be Here Now.
Yes....theyve gon too far but no one can say that definitely maybe and morning glory are not excellent....Doesn't matter if they if they didnt try and reinvent music....they made class guitar music then for people to sing along with....and they admitted it

matt1il
13-10-2006, 07:36 PM
they havent gone on too far ok between "the masterplan" (ok be here now as the masterplan was a b-sides thing) and "heathen chemistry" they sort of left there song writing, singing and playing capabilities in the toilets while snorting their coke but "don't beleive the truth" hit back like a fucking big sledgehammer and showed the youngsters how to do it again - and they are still amazing live and are still selling out stadiums and getting to no.1 in all charts which is more than can be said for any bands (i can think of) from '93/'94

ok the track listing for "stop the clocks" isn't great for ppl who have everything (like me) but ppl who don't might buy it - and noel did say a "best of" would be shite - but hopefully the film out later will be something worth getting

http://www.sstxo.com/banners/oasis/OASIS-stopclock.gif (http://www.oasisinet.com/stoptheclocks)

Oasis have been at the helm of the worlds music scene for over ten years and, on November 20th 2006 the first ever Oasis retrospective will draw together the years of multi platinum albums, Number One singles and, unique to Oasis, instantly familiar B sides into one 18 track double album entitled Stop the Clocks. Furthermore, this collection has been chosen by the band themselves - the songs they believe encapsulate their remarkable career to date.

Oasis are widely regarded as the defining rock n roll band of the last decade, bestriding the music world since the release of debut single, Supersonic in 1994 to the current day whilst claiming a host of records for their own. Second album, What's The Story, (Morning Glory), from which several of the tracks here are drawn, remains the highest ever certified album at 14 x platinum whilst their combined album sales total close to, a remarkable 40 million sales worldwide.

Unlike most albums of this nature, Oasis have sat down and undertaken the almost impossible job of picking what they consider to be their finest moments ever. So Stop The Clocks is imbued with the sort of wilfulness that has helped make Oasis the favourite band of millions of people worldwide and its running order will no doubt provoke equal parts adulation and bar discussions from the millions of Oasis fans worldwide. Could it ever be any other way?

Stop The Clocks includes the definitive greatest B side ever, Acquiesce, evoking memories of the White Room performance that so many regard as Oasis greatest music television moment. Also present is Half The World Away, another B side that became instantly recognisable to all in the UK for its use as the theme music of TVs The Royle Family.

I just really hate how the NME has their tongue shoved firmly up Oasis' collective arse and makes out that they are the best band ever.

To be fair, Oasis used to be my second favourite band (after The Verve) when I was about 9-12 years old. Now they wouldn't make my top 30 fav bands (maybe top 50), but they still made 2 good albums and a have handful of decent songs from the others. I personally think that overall they're a good band, but only occasionally excellent and mostly (especially now) very average.

Ian Brown is officially god, but he's also a Warrington lad. I saw him in Hamleys just before christmas this year., giving some poor shop attendant a right going over. Screaming at him cos they didn't have the exact action man that he wanted for his son.

To make it worse the lad working in the shop must have only been about 17, kept calling him Liam and Mr Gallagher, Brownie kept shouting "Do I fookin look like Liam fookin Gallagher to you".

I quite like the album title, it reminds me more of a Chemical Brothers, Death In Vegas kind of name than the ballsy Rock 'n' Roll that is Oasis. But I think we'll see the album heading more in that direction anyway,I have some of the demo's from this album and it certaintly seems that way.
Noel has also came out and said he want the album to be more groove based.

Either way I'm gonna be 'fookin mad fer it' can not wait for the tour to start, going over to Toronto to see them at the V-fest.

Dig Your Own Hole by The Chemical Brothers:D
Looking forward to hearing the new album.:)

Lucky!!!! Or maybe they'd get to play some new tracks

I fucking love Oasis, have for about five years now.

That being said, the album title is shit, and the Shock of Lightning doesn't even sound like an Oasis title. But I guess that makes sense - the album itself is supposed to be a departure from the sound that fans are used to. Either way I can't wait to hear it.

 I can't imagine the 'departure' will be like other bands departures somehow. As in Oasis aren't really the band to experiment alot really.

I guess they're not gonna be playing in the UK this year then..:(

I guess I'll have to go and see Oasis live and then make my final statement, they're going to be here in my city this November, so, we'll see, we'll see.. :P

I saw them in 2005 and they were fuckin' banging. I'd been into them for over 10 years before that and was worried they'd disappoint. You know how you suspect something might be an anticlimax if you've been waiting too long? Nope, they were blinding. Mind you I was off my tits.

The whole of 2005 ws hilarious Liam sang lie he was permanently suckin on a strepsal throughout the whole year, still They did some great gigs in 05/06. Although Finsbury Park in 2002 in my opinion will always remain as the greatest gig/mud fight of all time it was collosal.

I saw them at Noise & Confusion 2005, they were pretty good but were upstaged by the Foo Fighters on the night.

Oasis would have topped them if it hadn't have been for their god-awful encore; two new songs, Don't Look Back In Anger and their abominable version of My Generation.

Ewwww.

Still, Cigerettes & Alcohol, Morning Glory, Aquiesce and Rock 'N' Roll Star were all AMAZING, would have liked Some Might Say though.

They havent played Some Might Say for years it's the same as Slide Away plus Supersonic was dropped from quite a few gigs last time around. It's a shame though as every gig is now the same I don't Liam is capable of perfroming some of the songs like he once was.

I can't remember hearing it that tour and I went to abut 6 gigs in 05/06. Maybe they did it now and again I'm not sure. Supersonic is my live favorite though I love that song, and it's one that Liam can still sing perfectly.

I adore Oasis, I get enough stick for it just walking down the street, I ofent get shouted at with taunts like 'monkey boy' or a 'Oi Gallagher fuck off' :LOL:by builders who are jealous of my haircut and my superior fashion sence.:D

Still great band, that pulled British music off of it arse when they came about they were the kick we needed. I certaintly think when they finally split people will look back on them a lot fonder than how they do now.

yeh I used to sit on the field at school with me mates listening to them and singing stuff like champaign supernova, dont look back in anger, some might say and live forever so whenever I hear thoes songs now it brings it all back sitting on the field drinking cider at dinner hoping the teachers wouldn't notice us drinking it. Heh good times. I've never seen them live though but I'd love to:happy:

It is great Finsbury is my favorite gig of all time and my first., I just wish I had seen them in their heyday when Liam 'simply didn't give a fuck'. Definitely the band of my childhood. And Noel was the sole reason I picked up a guitar. I remember being 7 and seing the Supersonic video and thinking that the man in the red shirt was really cool turns out it was Noel, Liam too I was hooked from that moment. Much to my mums despair:LOL:.

Very good point actually...but then remember this is just The Chemics remix so i don't know what the album version actually sounds like. Howether a 20 second trailor of the new single The Shock of the Lightning has been leaked and without being biased itcould well be their bets material since Be Here Now!. Liam sounds like he's on fire, as a huge Oasis fan it was refreshing to hear again.

I would post the video but I don't know how to properly:LOL:

Well i've been waiting to be able to post this!

Falling Down originally leaked as a Chemical Brother remix has finally leaked in it's proper form.........it's good. But it's just not Oasis in my opinion! and i'm glad it's not up for a single release an album filler but no more.

Edit: after 13 listens i've decided it's an amazingly beautifull, epic piece of song writing...not the Oasis of old but genious in it's own right......it's great to have 'um back:happy:

^ There's something I really like about that track, but I can't put my finger on it. A nice chillout track, although I wouldn't want the whole album like that. The drums remind me of 'Tomorrow Never Knows' and the strings in the background remind me of Gas Panic. Surprisingly for Oasis I couldn't hear any obvious guitar bits either!

Theres only one guitar on most of the tracks on this album......Noel on guitar, Gem on bass and Andy on keyboards and piano! It's really grown on me now this track I love it.

The tracks i've heard all vary the new single The Shock of The Lightning is simply their best work since the Be Here Now era! Infacts this is the direction they should have took a long time ago!

Yeah, what I meant by I hope not all the tracks are like this on the album, is that I hope there are some more rockin' ones like Shock Of The Lightning (or what I've heard of it). Am glad they're going in a different direction, DBTT was alright, but I wouldn't want another one of them.

Well they're not......... theres some proper Rockers on there aswell...similer to The Shock of The Lightning and a Liam writ ballard aswell!! I liked DBTT and it was a complete change from what they usually do very acoustic based. But It's good to welcome back the Rockin Oasis of old!:D Liam really is back on fire with his vocals aswell amazing performace.
