Which single are you talking about? Golden Touch & Rip It Up are astonishing singles so do you mean the other one that I can't remember the name of?

When I first heard Action a while back on that x-ray cd I thought they were good, but didn't really stand out...they just seemed like a upbeat strokes clone

But after hearing more I really like them, they have a good sound

Haha. Golden Touch has been banned from BBC Radio. They aren't allowed to interview him ever again either. Hahaha. Cos he said "fuck".

Oh it was Golden Touch i was talking about, its grown on me since, but i think rip it up, rock and roll lies etc. were better- how can they ban a song cos the singer said fuck in an interview
And has anyone else noticed the fact jonny has invested in GHD straigtners, his hair is dead straight in the video, when its naturally quite curly- very nice ;)

28th. Only Radio 1 is playing it, no other stations will. They have banned anything to do with him! I don't understand it. The interview was on at about midnight. Cox has sworn in the morning before today. She should get fucking banned.

His hair was a lot better unstraightened. Men who straighten hair are scary because they are threatening. I think. Weirdness.

I really like Razorlight, haven't been able to see them yet though as their gigs always seem to clash with something else i'm doing.

Anyone heard 'When he was 20', short, simple, but a great track nonetheless.

my mate took me to a gig at the sugamill (local venue where i have been to see my mates band many times) where razorlight were playing. Anyway i didnt know who they were and i just assumed that they were like my mates band ( just a local band with no record deal) and then about 2 weeks later i go into HMV and their album is number one! i was so confused, i thought i had fell asleep for a year or something.

i love how we refer to him as 'the Borrell'. ive noticed that, like the Borrell, many of music's best looking men had not so flash teeth. Paul Simonon for example. I feel i may have already made this point but hell i'll make it again.

My brother claims he heard the back end of 'Stumble and Fall' on the radio here the other day, which is quite an achievement considering I live in the musical backwater of the world where even NME comes three weeks late :stunned:

stumble and fall is extremely strokes-esque. having just bought is this it and having listened to the razorlight trakcs i have on my comp soon after, id have to say razorlight and the borrell are strokes-esque, but, if possible, the borrell's ego is bigger than them both. :D

by the way, whoever that is with the brandon flowers picture, i listened to hot fuss for the first time last night and its absolutely fucking brilliant. brandon has somethng of ian curtis and the interpol guy in his voice, and is pretty damn gorgeous too. but that's off topic. i'll stop.

#2. There is a thread about 'Razorlight'.
#3. They aren't new at all.
#4. The word you were looking for was 'immense'.

i did just think they were another jumped up shitty garage rock band with a big hairy cock of a frontman.
Then i saw them support the manics and my opinions have changed. They are nothing new or spectacular, but a pretty good live act that prove to be very entertaining with some rather good tunes.

Going to see them in February, I like their singles but haven't got their album. I wouldn't have bought tickets if my friend hadn't begged me too-her parents were out so she couldn't book tickets. I'm getting the album for Christmas hopefully. Looking forward to it

I saw Razorlight with the Futureheads last month at a very small venue in San Francisco. There were some people from the BBC filming for, they said, Top of the Pops. Not sure if or when it aired (I live in the States). Great show, though, loved their onstage energy.

I saw Razorlight supporting the Manics on Friday. I thought they were impressive in their instrument playing but I didn't hear anything to make me like them. I still think JB is a bit of a twat and it sounded like every song was him repeating the same word over and over. But each to their own...

I don't hate things because other people like it. I didn't think Razorlight was a good band. And I loved TIRO. Just because I hated the Darkness for that one song doesn't mean I just decide that I don't like all music that appeals to the masses. Just that darkness, white stripes, ryan crabrerra (however u spell that last name), junk.

And when I say I hate catchy poppy stuff, I didn't mean stuff like TIRO, that's really not a "catchy poppy song".

TIRO is a catchy poppy song. it's the most accessible song they've made, and brought them legions more fans. if you say to someone who has heard of Muse, but is not a big fan, the only song they are likely to have heard is TIRO, and they'll most likely say they like it.

stop denying yourself, and stop hating bands because they are 'catchy'.

i fail to see how you can put the white stripes in the same category as the other two you have mentioned. i'm not a huge fan of the white stripes but a lot of their stuff is really eclectic and i dont think would appeal to the same people who like ryan cabrera. at all.

I think they are quite good, I haven't listened to too much of their stuff but what I have heard I can't say I don't like. Hopefully this will be a good gig, does anyone else have tickets? If you wanted to get some but missed out they have just released some more on see btw.

An arena tour will kill them. The best I ever saw them was playing the Glasgow Barra's, and Borrell climbed the amp stack and swung from the ceiling, and the music was good and the crowd was going crazy. But that was right at the start literally just after the first album got released.

They're a bit shite now, which makes me sad, cos back at the beginning the live shows were exceptional.

I think the beef between borrell and that other bloke has killed some of the energy as well, but the last album just doesn't deserve an arena tour. They're only doing it because for some unknown reason lots of people want to see them. they'd be better in places like the apollo, or academy one in manchester, better music venues anyway. The arena's too echoey.

A Seattle radio station had a small acoustic performance today by Johnny Borrell, even though the rest of the band was still in LA and they had no local gig booked. I have seen them 6 times in the past, opening for Muse on the US mtvU tour in 2005 and again in France in 2006. I won tickets to today's performance, which was much better than I expected, especially when I heard it was just Johnny. Here are the songs:

We had a few moments to chat with Johnny after his performance, and he was terribly nice (I had heard that he was a bit of a conceited prick in the past, but none of that today). My son and I enjoyed his performance much more than the Razorlight concert gigs back in '05/'06. The new songs (if the CD has been released in the US it's news to me) had a raw genuine quality missing in their earlier more commercial material.

+ many more acts to be announced

Having taken a year’s sabbatical in 2010, Get Loaded returns to Clapham Common on Sunday 12th June 2011 to showcase the very best in indie and alternative live music. As sister festival to South West Four, Get Loaded took place on the August Bank Holiday Sunday from 2003 to 2009. This year Get Loaded reverts from the end of the London festival calendar to the beginning for its greatly anticipated return. Headlining the event we are delighted to welcome one of the key bands to emanate from our shores over recent years. Helping to celebrate our return in true Get Loaded fashion we bring you the one and only Razorlight...

★ YOUR GET LOADED IN THE PARK HEADLINER IS... RAZORLIGHT

Over the past decade Razorlight have sold four million albums, played sold out arena tours and headlined festivals. They have also appeared on the cover of magazines from NME to Vogue, received two BRIT Awards - 'Best British Band' and 'Best Album', as well as an NME Best New Band Award. Their debut album, 'Up All Night', was released in June 2004 and reached number three in the UK Album Chart, with their second effort 'Razorlight' going straight in at number one in 2006. In 2010 the band played shows outside of the UK, supported U2 and began to write their new album.

Razorlight's performance at Get Loaded in the Park will be the first show in England featuring the band's new line-up. Joining Johnny Borrell are Gus Robertson (Rotten Hill Gang) on guitar and Freddie Stitz (Smokey Angle Shades) on bass. Skully, who took over when Andy Burrows left in 2008, continues as Razorlight's drummer. With the fourth album on the horizon, Get Loaded in the Park represents the first opportunity to hear their new tracks and the next chapter in the history of one of the UK's most prestigious guitar bands.

★ MORE MASSIVE NAMES COMING SOON!
Having aligned itself with London's leading inner-city festivals, Get Loaded in the Park has garnered a reputation for showcasing heavy hitters within the alternative music scene. Past guests have included Iggy & The Stooges, Lily Allen, Dizzee Rascal, The Streets, Gossip, De La Soul, Babyshambles, Supergrass, Soulwax, MIA, Kate Nash, Badly Drawn Boy, Graham Coxon, Dirty Pretty Things and The Hives amongst many others. Expect similar names at Get Loaded in the Park 2011 as we showcase massive acts on the main stage and another two arenas of new and underground talent. + another 25 acts to be announced across three stages

Last week we announced Razorlight as festival headliners. Now we’re ready to reveal the next round of artists who will all be playing Get Loaded in London festival exclusives. We’re sure you won’t be disappointed...

★ JUST ANNOUNCED! THE CRIBS / NOISETTES / DARWIN DEEZ / BRITISH SEA POWER

THE CRIBS
FOR MORE INFO ON THE CRIBS: http://www.getloadedinthepark.com/ViewArtist.aspx?Id=44
Described by Q Magazine as ‘the biggest cult band in the UK’ we’re delighted to welcome The Cribs. Made up of brothers Gary, Ryan and Ross Jarman and ex-Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, The Cribs first arrived on the circuit back in 2002. Known for their raucous and unpredictable live shows, the band have built up a fanatical following which comes off the back of a hectic tour schedule and four superb artist albums. In 2007 they joined the Sex Pistols for four nights at London’s Brixton Academy as well as headline the Radio One/NME stage at Reading and Leeds festival. Having become one of the biggest bands in the UK, the foursome took their sound across the world playing everywhere from the USA to Australia, New Zealand to Japan. In 2011 they are set to play a handful of summer festivals before they head into the studio work to work on their 5th album. This includes headline performances at Rockness, Kendall Calling and Friends of Mine. A fantastic addition to the lineup we’re thrilled to be able to welcome The Cribs to Clapham Common for the return of Get Loaded in the Park.

NOISETTES
FOR MORE INFO ON NOISETTES: http://www.getloadedinthepark.com/ViewArtist.aspx?Id=45
Joining us in South West London will be none other than Noisettes. Known for their unconventional approach to song writing it’s always best to expect the unexpected with this extravagant band headed by Shingai Shoniwa. In summer 2007 guitarist Dan Smith and drummer Jamie Morrison began sonic experiments that involved getting stoned before trips to the Natural History Museum, then attempting to cover the likes of Britney Spears. Two years on from their debut album awash with punk spirit and scorching blues-rock, the London trio returned with ‘Wild Young Hearts’, a set of sleek pop songs steeped in soul, dizzy on disco and harking back to the days of blues and jazz greats. What hasn’t changed with Noisettes is the energy they put in to performing. Described as “the best live band in Britain” by The Guardian and with a hugely anticipated new album on the horizon, we’re extremely excited to welcome Noisettes to Clapham Common this June.

DARWIN DEEZ
FOR MORE INFO ON DARWIN DEEZ: http://www.getloadedinthepark.com/ViewArtist.aspx?Id=46
Hailing from New York City, Darwin Deez’s live shows are extravaganzas of unbridled energy and unfettered joy. Describing his strain of pop as "a little bit Thriller, a little bit Dismemberment Plan", his sound calls to mind everyone from Beck to The Flaming Lips. His self-titled debut album was released in April 2010 and was met with universal praise, especially by the NME who named him the 10th coolest musician on the planet. A hilarious, complex and entertaining individual, Darwin Deez writes songs that will make you want to bust out your dancing shoes while also cutting to that raw, emotional nerve. Don’t miss your chance to witness a rare insight into everything a pop star should be, and yet so rarely is, at Get Loaded in the Park 2011.

BRITISH SEA POWER
FOR MORE INFO ON BRITISH SEA POWER: http://www.getloadedinthepark.com/ViewArtist.aspx?Id=47
With a style ranging from sweeping, often epic guitar pop to the visceral and angular, six-piece band British Sea Power have also been added to Get Loaded’s mouth-watering lineup. Their sound has been compared to the likes of The Cure, Joy Division and Arcade Fire and following their nomination for the Mercury Prize in 2008 are no strangers to the big festival experience. Having recently toured the UK, not to mention their current tour of the US, we’re delighted to welcome British Sea Power back to London as one of the key acts at Get Loaded in the Park 2011.

Jonny Borrell isn't helping to shrug off the preconception that he's an arrogant cock with all this

To be fair to Borrell, most of the bad publicity is because of comical press photos and laughable press releases/marketing drives.

I mean, they could still be shit but their team around them have not done them any favours.
