I was watching a performance of the early version of Plug in Baby on Youtube, and I noticed the lyrics were different. I'm sure most of you have seen the video, but if not, here it is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxhVeOVlxgc&mode=related&search=

Matt with blue hair... my favorite. :D

Anyways, here are the early lyrics, from what I can tell:
---
I've exposed your lies, baby
don't wanna break your compromise
don't you know that I'm changing
and cleansing everything
to forget your love

My plug in baby
crucifies my enemies
when I'm tired of giving
God was in me
in unbroken virgin realities
I'm tired of living

So don't confuse
'cause baby you're gonna lose
your own game
change me, replace the envying
to forget your love

My plug in baby
crucifies my enemies
when I'm tired of giving
God was in me
in unbroken virgin realities
I'm tired of living

(inaudible singing. I have no idea what he sings towards the end)

And I've seen your loving (love is gone)
And I've seen your loving
---
And again, I don't know some of the lyrics for this version, because it's fucking hard to tell. Anyone who can speak Mattish should help me on that level.

Anyways, I find I like these lyrics a bit more. What are all of your thoughts?

Yeah I always liked the early version of those chorus lyrics, although the structure of the song was improved for the album version which makes it generally better overall

The lyrics for the early version are on Musewiki:

You closed your eyes, yeah baby (or: I have exposed your lies, yeah baby)
You're gonna break my compromise (or: Don't wanna make no compromise)
Don't you know
That I'm changing
And cleansing everything
To forget your love

My plug in baby
Crucified my enemies
When I'm tired of living
Woah, God was in me
In unbroken virgin realities
I'm tired of living
Oooh ...

Don't confuse
'cause baby you're gonna lose
Your own game
Change me
Replace the envying
To forget your love

My plug in baby
Crucified my enemies
When I'm tired of giving
Woah, God was in me
In unbroken virgin realities
Im tired of living
Oh ... (x3)

Your truths
Are coming in
And I feel broken
Next to you
And I've been in trouble
(Baby It's Right)(?)

Oh
And I've seen your loving
And mine is gone
And I've seen your loving
Wooaahhhh

That works. lol

I like the structure on the album, true, but I've always been a fan of the more "raw" material from any band, so I usually like live and early versions of songs way more. What caught me about this one was the chorus change. "God Was In Me" is the part I liked.

I know what you mean, I preferred the live versions of some of the songs from BHaR (as do a lot of people, I know) but I doubt the guys would change the songs to make them worse

I swear he says "the colours in me" at one point as well :erm: I dunno I prefer the album version anyway

God, I much prefer the album version...

Intro guitar riff was far too long in the early version.
Chris's backing vocals sounded... weird.
Ending was just pointless.

That particular line was probably dropped cause it's quite annoying to hold "meeeeeeee" for long.

I always thought that version, with the cleaner echoey guitar, makes it sound like a progressed version of muscle museum:
atmospheric twisted guitar riff - bass verse - brief guitar build up - epic chorus - repeat guitar riff.

Never noticed it before seeing that vid last year though so maybe its just me.. :$

I like the early lyrics, but the album version sounds better, which is kind of like a "duh" comment but you know...

This song(album version) absolutely rocks! Muse doens't get any credit from the music media for producing classic songs like this.

from the early live performances it's pure awesome from when he goes "and I feel broken, next to you" onward. Theres one where they perform at Eurockness? i think when he had blonde hair and it was gold.

I do like their recent PIBs though with the end falsetto and the triplets he plays during it.

is it just me or does he speed up and slow down a lot at the start?

in the early version he definitely changed the tempo of the intro..

For those of you who have asked in the past, this is why Chris doesn't have too many singing parts... eesh.

Also interesting to note he uses the word "envying" for the 2nd time on the album. He uses it earlier on Bliss.

I think Plug In Baby at Bizzare Festival does Chris more justice haha.

Anyways, the crowd looks like ass.

This is the early 2000 version of Plug in Baby, which is pure awesomeness!
The lyrics is abit different from the later version, and I really need to get my hands on it.
Help, plz?

Just google "youtube to mp3."

There's a few websites that will make youtube videos into mp3s.

EDIT: Oh you want the lyrics...

Found it on MuseWiki!
Don't think it's 100% right, though...

You closed your eyes, yeah baby (or: I have exposed your lies, yeah baby)
You're gonna break my compromise (or: Don't wanna make no compromise)
Don't you know
That I'm changing
And cleansing everything
To forget your love

My plug in baby
Crucified my enemies
When I'm tired of living
Woah, God was in me
In unbroken virgin realities
I'm tired of living
Oooh ...

Don't confuse
'cause baby you're gonna lose
Your own game
Change me
Replace the envying
To forget your love

My plug in baby
Crucified my enemies
When I'm tired of giving
Woah, the cause within me
In unbroken virgin realities
I'm tired of living
Oh ... (x3)

Your truths
Are coming in
And I feel broken
Next to you
And I've been in trouble
(Baby It's Right)(?)

Oh
And I've seen your loving
And mine is gone
And I've seen your loving

I think this is the most accurate(for the Eurockeenes live, atleast):

You closed your eyes, yeah baby
Don't wanna break your compromise
Don't you know
That I'm changing
And cleansing everything
To forget your love

My plug in baby
Crucified my enemies
When I'm tired of giving
Woah, God was in me
In unbroken virgin realities
I'm tired of living
Oooh ...

Don't confuse
'cause baby you're gonna lose
Your own game
Change me
Replace the envying

My plug in baby
Crucified my enemies
When I'm tired of giving
Woah, God was in me
In unbroken virgin realities
I'm tired of living

Your truths
Are coming in
And I feel broken
Next to you
And I've been in trouble
Baby It's true

Oh
And I've seen your loving
And mine is gone
And I've seen your loving
Wooaahhhh

I don't think he says God was in me... it just sounds like that when he says resent me.

It's kind of..... not good.:(

It doesn't really sound like he knew exactly what notes that he wanted to hit with the lyrics
The guitar sounds mostly the same, but the bass and drums come in later than on the album.

I wish he stuck with "god is in me" lyric.

Yeah, but everything else is better on the album version.
