Just got back from their Newcastle City Hall gig.

Firstly, I must say that the acoustics in that place put everywhere else I've been to to shame - superb stuff.

They played a fair few tracks from their debut album which was quite refreshing, and they really are a tight band - they play their tracks exactly how they're meant to be played, none of this playing the wrong notes shite that some bands pass off as improvisation.

Won't say anymore, apart from a big "piss off" to the out of tune tart behind me who wouldn't shut up. It got to the point where I just wanted to turn round and poke her in the eye over and over again until she shut the f*ck up.

They were pretty good live - very tight and professional about it.

Their new album is also good. It seems to have passed a lot of people by, but there are some excellent tracks on it.

I <3 TRAVIS..hehe..never would imagine anyone on this board liking them though since they are pretty poppy..but in the best possible way! :D I actually prefer their older sound with songs like "All i want to do is rock", "U17 girls" and "Blue Flashing Lights"-they are a lot more edgier than any of the stuff on The Invisible Band and most of 12 memories. Nevertheless, songs like "Sing", "Why does it always rain on me?" and "Somewhere else" always puts a smile on my face :) . These songs sound so sweet and truly cheer me up whenever i'm feeling like crap. ooo..and i REALLY like "Happy to Hang Around"..it's a REALLY good song

Oh has anybody seen their "Singles" DVD??? i strongly encourage you guys to buy it. IT'S HILARIOUS. Esp the parts where Dougie does the Richard Ashcroft impression a la "Bittersweet Symphony" vid, and the Abby Road Tour thingie with Fran. ahh..those were some priceless moments..hehe.

I AGREE!!! :D It's my favourite from 12 Memories, though pretty much no one else seems to like it as much... well let alone that won't even give 12 Memories any credit at that. :( Walking Down The Hill is also class, as well as Somewhere Else -agreed-, How Many Hearts, and both the singles. Not bad in the least, even if not the best.

yay..someone agrees! :D
"happy to hang around" pwns..hehe..
I haven't actually heard "walking down the hill" nor have i heard the album version of "peace the f*ck off". "Somewhere Else" is a sweet song, also I looooove "Love will Come Through". It's such a great song

Yes. Travis is the type of band who creates songs that make people feel happy :) . But there are also some great tracks that are a bit darker and serious like "Blue Flashing Light"s, "The Beautiful Occupation", and one of my favourites, "Last Train". All in all, they're a great band and great people as well. It's a shame that they aren't really around these days. :(

Hehe, Peace The Fuck Out is actually quite good. You have a choice so choose it, you have a brain so use it, the time has come to peace the fuck out... or well something to that effect at least. :P When I first heard Love Will Come Through (this could sound rather half-arsed but) only Re-Offender was out as a single, I'd thought this would be great as that and wondered if they would eventually make it one. It's a really good song, but due to its having been overplayed around here I've grown used to it quite a bit, so my liking towards that isn't as much as it used to be... however that sounds... :P

It's overplayed where you are?! Wow..i don't think it was EVER even played where i am! (Canada). The first time i heard it was in the film moonlight mile, and then i heard it on travis's site. At that point, i really starting liking the song, and now it's one of my favourites  .

Absolutely... Happy To Hang Around has come to remind me of someone as well, and it makes me a bit sad to listen to it... a lot of memories, good and bad. Thankfully the effect isn't that strong, because for one I know only too well that musical association could be the root of all evil in some cases. :P I'm glad to see someone likes the song just as much - the very first I've met you are. :D

aww...sorry to hear that. The song doesn't remind me of anyone in particular. I just really love the way it sounds and the lyrics are great too. And hey, the same goes for you too. You're to first person that i know of who loves this song--let alone KNOW it--as much as i do :)

It's ok! At least you own some of their music, even if it's burnt CD's and some dowloaded tracks! I went out and bought The Invisible Band today... I would have bought 12 Memories too, but TIB was £15.99, and 12M was £16.99 in Virgin Megastores! Outrageous, when you think you can get other CD's for less than £10 in there and other music shops! Well, I know that £16 = about 28 US dollars ... not sure what it is in canadian dollars, but hopefully you'll know. So putting it like that makes it sound really expensive!

I haven't listened to TIB yet... but obviously I've heard the singles they've released so it isn't all new! I'll listen out for Last Train ;)

Yes, Virgin Megastores is kinda on the same line as HMV... so that's why is terrible they sell CD's in broken CD cases... :(

Yeah, I'll be checking out play.com for the release date of Travis's new album at the beginning of next year!

Good Feeling and The Man Who are just phenominally good albums, whereas the two newest albums are in all honesty, utter turd.

I've just listened to the two old albums and I really forget how much I liked Travis and how good they are.

I really hope they return to their roots as songs like U16 Girls, Tied To The 90's and Writing To Reach You are just great songs  .

Hmm, I kinda liked it in places but their two newest album had any of the raw energy the first two did.

It's kinda like Oasis/Travis

Definitely Maybe/Good Feeling
Morning Glory/The Man Who

My and my mum are MASSIVE Travis fans, they are just totally awesome!
I wish my parents would let me go to one of their shows but I'm too young:(
Has anyone seen the video to 'Closer'? It's a classic... way better than the Invincibe vid;)

I quite like the new song, it's almost going back to The Man Who days. Here's hoping the album's along the same lines!

I missed the chance to see tham a few years ago when they played Radio One's Big Sunday in Manchester Heaton Park. I was working at a pub just round the corner and was gutted I couldn't get the day off :(

was i the only one here that saw them in london then?? how dull, who am i to talk to??

twas an awsome gig, the best ive been to in terms of how bloody happy they were to be playing, it was their first gig in so long! living in brighton i usually end up seeing most stuff in london which is usually the last stop on tours, so often people are either knackered or on autopilot having done the same show so many times.

but the boys were loving it and andy and dougie left the stage holding hands. and dougie was smiling at me all the way through, and ladies, fran is still fookin smexy....

the only thing that TOTALLY pissed me off was everyone else on the barrier was totally deadpan for the whole gig, too busy making sure they held their cameras still to video the whole thing. i felt embarrassed for the band that during such a special and emotional gig they had to play to a sea of lenses. i wish everyone would do like MCR and confiscate cameras at the door

Cant remember the rets of the names of the songs, but really, this album is probably going to be one of the best of 2007!!!...Better than 12 Good feeling, 12 memories & invisible band.....Not sure about man who though..:p

The Boy with No Name was actually released last year, I thought it might have been longer ago. Didn't really never get into that album, bored me to be honest. I wasn't even expecting a new album, I was just browsing cd-shops online and bumbed into Travis.

And the new stuff is sounding refreshingly nice, I think I will need to go and buy the new album tomorrow. It's so nice when old favourites make good stuff, it makes you all excited and stuff

It's still brilliant, as is Good Feeling. I always feel a bit sorry for Travis, two classic 90s albums that are tragically overlooked, even more so as they get progressively worse as a band :(.
