I'd be surprised if they didn't play Jaggy Snake tbh. But if another rarity takes its place, I won't be sad.
They said in the Q+A that they'll be playing what they want to play, if people want slayer, then slayer are playing on the Friday

I'm not expecting Slayer. I don't even like Slayer. It will be an enjoyable end to Saturday.
New song sounds passable. Still better than most of the last album though. I'm guessing 14th floor will butcher it as per though.

Infinity Land:) Maybe it'll take you a few listens to get into it but then you'll simply love it! Maybe you should listen to a few songs like "Wave upon wave..." or "Got wrong" before buying it and see of you like them.

Buy Puzzle or Infinity Land?
Definitely Infinity Land for me. Infinity Land made Biffy one of my favourite bands, whilst Puzzle put me off listening to them for about 2 years. For me it's that dramatic a difference. It's not that i'm a bitter old fan either, as I'd say Only Revolutions is probably my second favourite now after Infinity Land! But Infinity Land is full of twisted timings, riffs, and eccentric inventive rock, whilst Puzzle by contrast is mostly full of mind numbingly bland half-cooked ballads. Puzzle does have the occasional good song too (first 3 tracks are really good), but they really are increasingly occasional as the album drags on.
If you like Only Revolutions' softer songs then go for Puzzle (but beware that they're far shitter versions). If you like their heavier-riff based songs and eccentricities then go for Infinity Land.

As this is iTunes some songs have already been cherry-picked (Living Is A Problem, Who's Got A Match and Glitter and Trauma).

So have you bought one of the albums yet?
I don't think, "Puzzle" is a bad album at all. It's just that most songs on it are about loss and/or death. If you've lost someone close to you yourself (which I don't hope as you're still quite young) you can surely relate to the album quite well. "Infinity Land" is a little more versatile and I just love it for its weirdness.

Biffy's set on Sonisphere was rather fantastic I thought, even if they did play every song on OR. It's probably one of the best all round performances I've seen from them even if the setlist wasn't completely to my liking, miles better than when they supported Foo Fighters a week before.

Biffy Clyro are severely intent on following Muse's career path. Sort of.
- Decent debut showing promise of things to come.
- Crazy second record that is still hailed by hardcore fans as their best
- Third album takes the band's sound to new levels
- The fourth album is the most successful to date, but not as popular amongst hardcore fans
- Fifth album is a pile of wank.
Now they want to go completely OTT.

Thing is, they're semi-decent at doing epics. Living is a Problem is pretty good (bar the 10 minute intro, or so it feels), and 9/15ths is a pretty wicked track. You can even find proggier tracks on the older stuff - Time as an Imploding Unit and Toys, Toys, Toys comes to mind.

Struggling to think of any double album i've actually really liked. They always end up feeling just too long and drawn out, and i kind of think if the band had cut a few of the less good tracks they could have made one seriously good album instead...

Pretty excited about the double album. Sounds like 1 side might be a bit more radio-friendly and the 2nd side being more alternative and heavier.
Less excited by the fact that this means we will barely be getting any songs from the first 3 albums played live anymore.

I prefer Puzzle to OR and The Resistance to BHAR, but that's beside the point.
A double album could be pretty cool. There's more opportunity that way for interesting stuff, the kind of tracks that might otherwise have ended up as B-sides. It could still go badly, but I like to think that after the X Factor nonsense they'll want to do something a bit surprising.

If they were similar musically Biffy probably would get shoved away as a cheap imitation anyway - but another thing to notice is this is probably the first time they have made the same amount of albums previously and gone into making a new one at the same time and look, the layout of the album is already different.

That intrigues me. If a band of their level were quite raw-sounding live, in a good way, I'd think it to be a breath of fresh air.

I think that fact that Biffy sound pretty raw live is one of the things that make them a great live band.
Having said that, I thought their set when they supported Foo Fighters at MK was pretty poor, lacked the usual energy and I was pretty damn bored, thankfully they killed it at Sonisphere the following weekend so my faith was restored.
I agree with dip on the consistency thing, 1 poor gig out of the 11 times I've seen them is pretty damn consistent, whereas I've seen Muse 8 times and 2 or 3 of them have been pretty poor by their standards, do the math.

Infinity Land was the first Biffy album I bought (in the week it was released!) and it's still my favourite. But I'd say Only Revolutions is probably my second favourite now. It took a year of listening to it, but it finally grew on me to a ridiculous extent. I love every track on both of those albums and love the flow to both.
Infinity Land for the eccentric unpredictable genius > Only Revolutions for the awesome eccentric rock songs and melodies > Blackened Sky for the murky distorted teenage sounds > Vertigo Of Bliss for the handful of amazing harder songs (but I've never loved it as an album, even after years of listening to it) > Puzzle for... the three good songs? There's no need to listen to Puzzle really.

See, I was disappointed by/don't love/don't like any of those albums.
Double albums nearly always seem to me to be bloated. They usually seem to be either one or (at their best) one-and-a-half good albums diluted into two alright-poor albums. To be honest, I'm generally (if not always) against albums being more than 12 tracks maximum in length, with 11 tracks being ideal, so an album somewhere around the 20-30 mark is definitely too much! Like a good film, the best albums should have a flow and timing, and that includes knowing when to stop.
If they make two excellent 11-12 track albums, then fantastic. I will be incredibly happy, but very surprised! And it will be the first double album that I truly like.

I've always thought Revolutions was better than most people here think, but I can see the general sound not stretching to a full double albums. From what they're saying, we'll get something much more varied.
I think the main problem with double albums is that if you have lots of variety it's hard to give it a cohesive identity, but if the sound's generally the same it gets monotonous. Hopefully Biffy will avoid that.

Now I love (close to) all the tracks. Although I tend to leave out G&T now because I've probably overplayed it too much compared to the others

I like most Biffy music, but to me Infinity Land is the only album that doesn't sound at least a little bit processed.
Also, VoB is my least favorite album of theirs by far I'm sorry if I offended you!!!!

I think I may be one of the only people who actually loves Puzzle  Sure, it has some duller pop songs, and the rock version of Folding Stars makes me cringe, but in my opinion it is easily there most emotional and dark album, and that really draws me towards it.
The amazing thing about these guys, is that live even their poppier stuff becomes bad ass (Captain, anyone?)

Puzzle is ace. Only album that blends Biffy new and old without suffering from gash songwriting.
Blackened Sky is brilliant for the same reason, just with a rawer/unpolished edge.

Infinity Land is my favourite Biffy record; its got some very good songwriting and its subject matter as well as execution is really heavy, they likely won't best it.
However, this double album sounds like it could be at least an improvement on OR, which I thought was good enough anyway, it was the first Biffy album I heard (That Golden Rule winning me over), because the concept Simon Neil talked about intrigues me. It could of course turn out badly but to me one album being about right decisions and one being about wrong decisions at a metaphorical fork in the road sounds pretty good. Particularly the 'wrong decisions' part, that has the ever present 'dark' written all over it. (to me... time will tell if I'm utterly wrong :D )

I like the idea of having a mirror up in between albums - so one album has songs on it, the other album has another interpretation of those songs - maybe the new Biffy and old Biffy?
If that makes sense. Like if an album was in a parallel universe or something.
Oooh! Like Hyper Music/Hyper Chondriac Music!

Puzzle's basically a Muse album. Completely over-the-top with BIG hooks (emphasis on big) that fail to disguise the completely unambitious song-writing. Conversation Is... might be my least favourite Biffy track for this reason (Captain is beginning to run it close)
And Blackened Sky's basically a SDRE album.
Okay, they're rubbish generalisations. But I'd definitely argue that Infinity Land and Vertigo of Bliss are the two albums that were the best balanced and most exciting to listen to. The most 'Biffyish' anyway. I just can't recognise Biffy anymore - they're just a smorgasbord of different ... shite.

Well I'd be happy if Muse delivered something like Puzzle for number 6... (or OR to an extent - TGR esque would be epic)
I am really interested in seeing what BC do next really, I mean, they are an unpredictable band imo.

See, I totally disagree! I'd say Puzzle is the only Biffy album that suffers from gash/incredibly dull songwriting. I like 2 or 3 songs on it. The rest is awful. Remains the only Biffy album I don't like. I was so relieved when Only Revolutions came out, as it had decent songs, catchy vocals, awesome riffs on it and flashes of Infinity Land eccentricity, rather than Puzzle's extensive collection of bland, piss-poor ballads which failed to even write a decent hook.

I'd say almost exactly the same about OR - the songs are just dire for the most part, with the exception of That Golden Rule and Bubbles which sum up everything I love about Biffy.
Songs like Know Your Quarry, Many Of Horror, Born On A Horse, Whorses and Shock Shock are just gash.
Hey-ho.
I will agree that Know Your Quarry is absolutely foul.

For me, half of Puzzle can be summed up by taking Many Of Horror and Know Your Quarry, and then replacing their incredibly catchy vocal melodies with tediously dull ones. Or take Whorses (my least favourites on OR) and replace it's gallop and distortion with half-arsed strings and a ballad worthy drum beat.
I'd also add Born On A Horse is eccentric enough to slot wonderfully into Infinity Land (plus it has awesome vocals!), and Shock Shock has more life and energy in it than the vast majority of Puzzle put together.
They're certainly all far better than As Dust Dances, A Whole Child Ago, Now I'm Everyone, Love Has A Diameter, Folding Stars, and Machines. And I'm not exactly a huge fan of the rest of the album outside of Living Is A Problem, Saturday Superhouse and Semi-Mental. When Puzzle came out Biffy were one of my top 3 favourite bands. Following Puzzle I barely listened to them for the two or three years, past the occasional dip into the by then rather over-played back catalogue. It left a rather unfavourable impression on me to put it mildly! OR, whilst poppy (although they've always had that side to them) actually restored my faith in them, and has since grown to being my joint 2nd favourite Biffy album, tied with Blackened Sky & just behind Infinity Land.

I disagree, I think it's a decent song, but when you compare /it to their other stuff most of the album (minus Golden Rule, ofc) is a bit of a slap in the face. Of course, live the songs totally transform.
Sorry, are we talking about the same albums?
