from their site... updated on thursday... (their record deal fell through jus before they were about to sign to the label)

"Well, what is going on with Reuben? We appreciate that you haven’t seen a lot happening for a while, so here’s what we’re doing...

The album is finished, but we’re waiting for the proper contracts to be sorted out by our lawyers so we can get our hands on it, which is taking its time. Meanwhile, we’ve recorded some b sides for our next single, Freddy Kreuger, which also has a finished video, but we can’t set about releasing it until we have the album in our clutches because they will be released at a very similar time.

We won’t be playing any shows until we get a tour sorted out to promote the new single, but we can’t sort out a tour until we’ve got the single sorted, and we can’t get the single sorted until we’ve got the album, so it’s all a bit of a knock on effect.

So what are we doing whilst waiting for the album? Well, we’ve been rehearsing an awful lot, and we already have six new songs which will eventually go on the second album. They are all brilliant, apart from one, which is frankly a bit embarrassing.

So, that’s what’s happening. But before you know it, the single will be out, we’ll be on tour, and you’ll have the album in your CD player. We’re all very very pleased with it, and you will be too."

Good good, saw them in November at the Garage, and frankly, they were great. Surprised they're not bigger than they are, they have the same kind of sound as FFAF, lostprophets, Hundred Reasons (from what I remember) but they're nowhere near their popularity...

Strange...

new single out 31st may - freddy krueger - cracking single - do ur damn best to get ur grubby mitts on a copy cos this band are destined for big things... (this is turning into one big plug - not that i care - if i was prime minister every household in the country would be obliged to buy a copy - the cost of which would be added to their tax bill - wat a treat that would be)

I met Guy at Soulwax in Portsmouth on tuesday. He was reeallly nice, me and my mate were talking to him for ages about what they're doing next and stuff.
There's a possibility of an album/tour in April but they're trying to sort out a new agent at the mo because their current one does Razorlight and some other people so he's too busy. He says they've been listening back to a few tracks off the new album and they sound great, and it's supposed to be a bit different from racecar.

The thing is, it's hard to really put your finger on why Rueben didn't become as well known from their first album as, say, Hundred Reasons. Similar sort of genre and IMO Reuben are far superior. I have a feeling Reuben will stay at the same sort of level and whatsmore they'll be quite content to do so. They love what they do, they're awesome guys, and they seem to enjoy playing small places where they can mingle and meet people. Legends!

Jonesy

The complaint, so says the song on the new album is that 'Every time a teenager listens to drum n bass a rockstar dies'. Possibly the most long-winded title ever!! Amazing song live...... and on CD for that matter. Reuben rule.

Thought I'd bump this as they have new stuff coming out soon and they are one of my favourite bands.

The boys have just created their own record label called Hideous Records which they hope to release their future albums, DVDs and whatever on: http://www.hideousrecords.com/

They have a DVD titled 'Whatever Happens In Aldershot, Stays In Aldershot', which will be released on the 5th of March. It contains "A SHORT FILM ABOUT UNDERGROUND BRITISH ROCK IN 2006. ALSO FEATURING 80 MINUTE ACTION PACKED LIVE LONDON SHOW". You can also buy this DVD in advance at some of their February gigs.

Their third album is recorded and they're basically just finishing the mixing and all that at the moment. If you go to www.myspace.com/wordsfromreuben then you can watch the videos that they have filmed of their recording time which are hilarious to be honest.

Hopefully someone actually finds all this useful

I regret to announce that Reuben are unable to play their slot on the 2000 Trees Festival in July, but they would still urge people to go anyway - it should be a great weekend. They are very sorry to disappoint fans who have already bought tickets, as you can imagine Reuben hate cancelling shows. The band are all in good health but the culmination of several pressures just makes it impossible for Jamie to go ahead with it.

The band are not planning any more gigs or releases for the foreseeable future - I should make it clear that the band members are all on amicable terms and are supportive of the need to call a halt.

This seems like a good time to thank everyone who has helped and encouraged Reuben along the way; some of you have been there from the start, others from last week, some are within the music industry, others are simply fans - it doesn't matter which, you are all important and have given great strength to all concerned.

Thank you so much,

Rarities album was announced today.

Hallo there! Well, it’s been cooking for nearly a year now and it’s been tough keeping it a secret, but it’s finally here and we can now announce a big present for you all for being so great to us over the years – a 2 CD, 1 DVD set of Reuben b sides, rarities and videos.

Hilariously entitled “We Should Have Gone To University”, it’s being put out by our old chums Xtra Mile, and is pretty darn comprehensive. The full track listing will be revealed exclusively on http://www.kerrang.com at mid-day today, so be sure to log on and check it out, but until then rest assured that we filled up all three discs until it was physically impossible to get any more on there. No, really!

It’ll be available in shops and to download on the 24th of August but if you can’t quite wait that long you can pre-order now from http://www.xtramilerecordings.com and receive your copy TEN DAYS before it hits the shelves! Simply log on to

http://www.xtramilerecordings.com/specials.php?osCsid=fd91d2bdbbde0c1859527ca488da88 de

In the mean time, you might like to check out our new video for ‘lost’ track Blitzkrieg, put together in the spirit of the compilation out of old bits and bobs we weren’t sure what to do with. Take a look at

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7sk7LkTDOY

Also look out for a new-look website to support the release, which should be available to view from Monday at http://www.wordsfromreuben.com, with even more content to be rolled out in the near future. Cheers, Ric!

Well, that’s pretty much it for now – we hope you’re as excited as we are about it all...don’t forget to pre-order your copy, check out Kerrang for the tracklisting and the Blitzkrieg video on Yoochoob.

You’ll probably hear from us again on the 24th, but till then, have fun!

Your best friends,

Jamie, Jon and Guy.

Completely out of the blue, I honestly can't believe we're going to get new Reuben stuff. I'm so happy!

Bit of info for those into Frank Turner - Frank Turner was Reuben's official merch guy for many years. True story. :)

Jamie Lenman has also played touring guitar for Biffy in the past, and produced videos by Frank, Sucioperro and others. Oh and Frank Turner is in Reuben's Deadly Lethal Ninja Assassin video. I think that covers it

This was Jamie's response:

I literally find Jamie funnier than anyone I know in real life. Someone I knew met him, and
he genuinely isn't a twat like a lot of these folks are as well, which is nice.
