I would actually say Invincible to be honest...from the heart...and their lyrics easy to relate to...unlike half of the spacey shit Matt sings about...
The message is good what the lyrics in B&H are trying to get across, but i don't think the lyrics them selves are anything speical...but ye another gd example...

I'm failure for humour today so I'm gonna break it to you, Invincible has dreadful lyrics.
Eternally Missed has good ones, if you don't mind the "shroud" thing. Fury, Dead Star, Futurism (oral sex lololol), City of Delusion

Execution Commentary.
No seriously, well, Muscle Museum is incredibly raw and heartfelt. Sunburn's lyrics are very intelligent as well. Blackout gives me goosebumps, as does Screenager and the end of Citizen Erased. Hoodoo and Glorious are simply crystalline though. Gah, it's hard to decide.
Right, anyway, actually getting to the topic itself...some of my lyrical favourites are probably Showbiz (no surprise there ), CE, Megalomania, TaB and City Of Delusion. :yesey:

Being serious now...
CE, Glorious, Blackout, Muscle Museum, Showbiz... the list goes on
I can see why you think B&H because it sends out a good message, but it isn't really one of my faves.

All of Matt's lyrics say something meaningful, and that's what makes them amazing to me.
But if we're talking about lyrics in the sense of poetry / craftmanship, these songs would qualify:
Citizen Erased
Falling Away With You
Time Is Running Out
Stockholm Syndrome (lyrics that mean nothing, yet everything.)
Glorious
Ruled By Secrecy
Shine (whoa)
Soldier's Poem
Bliss
and probably New Born too.

I think it's very erotic, and accompanied by that guitar solo toward the end, there maybe should be an age limit for listening to it.

it depends on the mood / setting:
"everything about you is so easy to love, they're watching you from above"- when you're recovering from a personal disaster/ loss.
All of unintended- when you're recovering from a bad breakup.
Take A Bow / Assasin- ass-kicking / activist moments
Muse is the soundtrack to my (and a lot of other people's) life (lives).

Micro Cuts (Hands are red with your blame Megaphone screaming my name Whimpers someone I should've loved Souls weeping above...), Megalomania (The good news is she can't have babies And won't except gifts from me What are they for? They'll just grow up and break the laws you've loved...), Darshines (Bringing me down Making my heart feel sore 'Cause it's good...). In fact I love all the lyrics in Origin Of Symmetry even if I know a lot of people will disagree with me... I'm less fond of their lyrics now, but I still like their music a lot!

My favourite? Try to gues :D
Uf, If people, especialy familly and friends, knew and understood that verse... It's too late, so I have to live with It, and make the best out of It :'(
But on general, I really can't decide, because the majority of Muse lyrics are masterpices on their own, well, for me at least. They have a song for every mood I'm in.
That's why I love them.
Because, in my 'silly' complexed mind I see that I'm not alone, someone understands the world (on general, and our own mind) like me.
yeah I know... cheese :D

Ok so following the trend of the best of 'the best' threads, what are, in everyone's opinion the best Muse lyrics? My personal favorite is Bliss.
Everything about you is how I wanna be
Your freedom comes naturally
Everything about you resonates happiness
Now I won't settle for less
Give me all the peace and joy in your mind
Everything about you pains my envying
Your soul can't hate anything
Everything about you is so easy to love
They're watching you from above
Give me all the peace and joy in your mind
I want the peace and joy in your mind
Give me the peace and joy in your mind
Everything about you resonates happiness
Now I won't settle for less
Give me all the peace and joy in your mind
I want the peace and joy in your mind
Give me the peace and joy in your mind

Fear
And the panic in the air
I want to be free
From desolation and despair
And I feel
Like everything I sow
Is being swept away
Well I refuse to let you go
I can't get it right
Get it right
Since I met you
Loneliness be over
When will this loneliness be over?
Life
Will flash before my eyes
So scattered and lost
I want to touch the other side
And no one
Thinks they are to blame
Why can't we see
When we bleed we bleed the same?
I can't get it right
Get it right
Since I met you
Loneliness be over
When will this Loneliness be over?
Loneliness be over
When will this Loneliness be over?

The lyrics may be simple often times, but that never is a reason to discard them. There are plenty poetry that relies on simple verse and diction to get across a message. That being said, the MESSAGE is usually what makes art great, and in auditory art a lot of that comes from the combination of sounds and lyrics (which would go to prove your point about Matt's vocals augmenting the songs).
You shouldn't disregard lyrics for being simplistic, but honestly evaluating the lyrics of a song is like evaluating ONLY the color scheme of a painting. Still, a lot of the message can be seen by the lyrics, and I think that a great deal of his songs have messages that to me at least are deep and resonate with a lot of power.
That being said some of my favorite lyrics would have to be Hoodoo, Deadstar, Starlight, Screenager, Citizen Erased, Plug in Baby, Escape, Endlessly, Falling Away With You, Ruled by Secrecy..
Er before I list all their discography I'll stop there.
One of my friends really is affected by Screenager's lyrics.. they kind of mirror a lot of what has happened to him.

I think overall, Matt wrote his best lyrics on OoS.
"Your golden lies feed my world, in this forgotten space race under my control"
That's serious poetry.
To be fair, Origin was the only Muse album that had anything close to good lyrics.

Wtf? I was referring to HCM. He doesn't say 'Your' in that version. I know this because I do.. you know.. listen to the actual song.
One of my favorite lyrics of Muse.. is 'Plug In Baby'
I've exposed your lies, baby
The underneath is no big surprise
Now it's time for changing
And cleansing everything
To forget your love
My plug in baby
Crucifies my enemies
When I'm tired of giving
My plug in baby
In unbroken virgin realities
Is tired of living
Don't confuse
Baby you're gonna lose
Your own game
Change me
Replace the envying
To forget your love
My plug in baby
Crucifies my enemies
When I'm tired of giving
My plug in baby
In unbroken virgin realities
I'm tired of living
And I've seen your loving
But mine is gone
And I've been in trouble

Hoodoo
"Hopelessly, I'll love you endlessly
Hopelessly, I'll give you everything

But the moment never comes."

My favourite lines at the moment are (they change every few days):
Soldier's Poem
How could you send us so far away from home?
When you know damn well that this is wrong
I would still lay down my life for you
Invincible
There's no one like you in the universe
Endlessly
It's plain to see, it's trying to speak
Cherished reams, forever asleep
Darkshines
Passing by, you light up my darkest skies
You take only seconds to draw me in
Hate This And I'll Love You
You left us far behind,
So we all discard our souls.
And blaze through your skies,
So unafraid to die...
...And I'm getting strong in every way (just love the way it's sung :D)
Time Is Running Out
I wanted freedom
Bound and restricted
I tried to give you up
But I'm addicted
Now that you know i'm trapped
Sense of elation
You'd never dream of
Breaking this fixation

I really like all Matt's lyrics, most of them anyway, but this is my favourites:
MOTP, 2nd verse:
Life will flash before my eyes
So scattered and lost
I want to touch the other side
And no one thinks they are to blame
Why can't we see
That when we bleed we bleed the same
MOYH, 2nd verse:
I saw a liquid control
That gives life to a soul
I hit my head on it and woke up to know
That I was all alone
Wearing just socks and a phone
Someone's screaming like their world might explode

I suspect this question has been asked four hundred times before but, since I'm new, please indulge me...what are you favourite Muse lyrics? Which ones really touch you?
Here are some beautiful examples:
Don’t kid yourself and don’t fool yourself. This love’s too good last and I’m too old to dream. Don’t grow up to fast and don’t embrace the past. This love is too good to last and I’m too young to care.
There’s no justice in the world, and there never was.
Why can’t we see that we’re both to blame? And that when we bleed we bleed the same?
Becca Of Cydonia

I like those, too, I like;
Starlight, "I just wanted to hold you in my arms."
MotP, "When will this loneliness be over."
Invincible, "Tonight we can truly say, together, we're invincible."
Bliss, "Everything about you is so easy to love."
And New Born, "Soulless is everywhere."

I don't know if there's been a thread like this, but I suppose it could be similar to: "Favorite part of any Muse song..."
Anyways: "Come to be/How did it come to be?/Tied to a railroad/No love to set us free/Watch our souls fade away/And our bodies crumbling/Don't be afraid/I will take the blow for you."
For some reason I get chills every time I hear that. So beautiful...
Why can’t we see that we’re both to blame? And that when we bleed we bleed the same?
Not to be pedantic... (now you know I'm gonna be :D)
but if you're talking about MOTP then your favourite lyrics are: "And no one / Thinks they are to blame / Why can't we see / That when we bleed we bleed the same
I don't know if there's been a thread like this, but I suppose it could be similar to: "Favorite part of any Muse song..."
Anyways: "Come to be/How did it come to be?/Tied to a railroad/No love to set us free/Watch our souls fade away/And our bodies crumbling/Don't be afraid/I will take the blow for you."
For some reason I get chills every time I hear that. So beautiful...

Can't believe I'll be the first to post this...
For one moment/I wish you'd hold your stage/With no feelings at all/Open minded/I'm sure I used to be/so free...
Wash me away/Clean your body of me/Erase all the memories/They will only bring us pain/And I've seen, all I'll ever need...
I've had recurring nightmares
That I was loved for who I am
And missed the opportunity
To be a better man

Don’t kid yourself and don’t fool yourself. This love’s too good last and I’m too old to dream. Don’t grow up to fast and don’t embrace the past. This love is too good to last and I’m too young to care.
Why can’t we see that we’re both to blame? And that when we bleed we bleed the same?
i get goosebumps whenever i listen to blackout its beautiful.. and motp is amazing as well... i love comas lyrics as well

Love the lyrics to:
Citizen Erased,
Glorious,
Hoodoo,
.....And about 50+ more MUSE songs.
I am sorry, but Matt has such an interesting mind, it seems that sometimes the lyrics give away the intellect he often tries to hide.

Endlessly. In all my limited musical knowledge, that song has the saddest yet most beautiful lyrics ever written. The chorus fits perfectly with the message that the lyrics try to convey, and when coupled with the string section in the 2nd and 3rd choruses, the song is just heartbreaking.
*sheds manly tears*
Sing for Absolution is also kind of creepily beautiful.

hurt :(
"and we'll pray that theres no god" that instantly stuck in my head.
blackout of course.
and i really like how muse can write about Stockholm Syndrome. most other bands do songs about women and relationships but muse have to be different, and it is the best song ever "and this is, the last time i'll abandon you"

fav lyrics from any muse song? ummm . . . it's so hard to choose! they're all great and meaningful.
probably my favourite lyrics would have to be from Hate this and I'll love you
"so we all discard our souls, and blaze through your skies, so unafraid to die"
don't know why i like those lyrics they just get to me every time i hear them

HTAILY is a good song. One of my favorite's off of Showbiz fa sho.
I also like the lyrics "And I was born, to destroy you. And I am growing by the hour." The way Matt sings it make it sound so angsty and mean. I love it

I wouldn't go with favourite but the "I have played in every toilet, but you still want to spoil it" part in Muscle Museum is pretty effed up. Gives me a chuckle every time.
I guess otherwise it would be Megalomania's "Paradise comes at a price that I am not prepared to pay". Stuck as my msn personal message for a while which means something. Actually that also has "The good news is, she can't have babies" bit which is bit weird....

Mine is probably
the part leading onto the chorus in Feeling Good.. my signature. :D
Or t he "I won'et let you smother it" bit in Time is Running Out...
Or the chorus in plug-in baby...

this is hard one
I think City of Delusion's lyrics are the best in BHAR

In OOS I think it's CItizen Erased
and on Showbiz I Think it's Unintended.

Am I the only one who likes the lyrics for DarkShines?
they are SO evil, and the way he sings it!
My mom called Muse "Horror Music". Made me LOL.
Also, Blackout and Endlessly and Hyper Music and Bliss. Hysteria, too.
everything is so beautiful and evil at the same time, for me it makes it real.

Three words:
MIKE. ROW. KUTZ.
Hands are red with your blame
Megaphone screaming my name
Whimpers someone I should've loved
Souls weeping above
I've seen
What you're doing to me
Destroying puppet strings
To our souls
Micro waves me insane
A blade cuts into your brain
To sounds like forks on a plate
Blackboard scratched with hate
I've seen
What you're doing to me
Destroying puppet strings
To our souls
Amazing...now if only a normal human being could understand them without using a lyrics website.:(

But seriously, Hoodoo, Blackout (which is greater than B&H for me, The Small Print (yes I'm the only one who thinks that), Micro Cuts, New Born, Hate This & I'll Love You, and Unintended. And Con-science. Mainly because I think it's gorgeous.

Stockholm Syndrome:
This is the last time I'll forget you
I wish I could.
Endlessly:
hopelessly I'll love you endlessly
hopelessly I'll give you everything
but I won't give you up
I won't let you down
and I won't leave you falling
If the moment ever comes
Unintended:
You could be the one who listens
to my deepest inquisitions
you should be
the one I'll always love
Glorious:
Touch my face
A hopeless embrace
Faith
It drives me away
But it turns me on
Like a stranger's love
Rockets through the universe
It fuels the lies and feeds the curse
Believes we could be
Glorious
And Map of the problematique has the most epic line ever:
Why can't we see
That when we bleed we bleed the same
Priceless

Not much love for KOC people :( I know most of its a bit daft but these lines are tops:
"I'll show you a god who falls asleep on the job". (the age old question of why bad things happen and questions god's existence)
"And how can we win when fools can be kings" (or presidents, or prime ministers )
"Don't waste your time or time will waste you." :yesey:
This last line really speaks to me - maybe its cos I am older than many here and sometimes think "shite, where have the last 2/5/10 years gone". This line kind of made me re-evaluate my life, which sounds ultra-wankey but really its not. Gave me a serious kick up the arse and why I say that Muse changed my life.
Ok, i'll get off the couch now.
