I Believe In A Thing Called Love was a truly great song; props to the Darkness for being able to take the piss to that extent, but no novelty act can go past the three singles mark without getting old (in the case of many, one single is too much) and I'm now incredibly bored of them.

Part of being in a successful band is knowing when to call it a day. Unfortunately, the Darkness don't seem to have this quality.

Nope. I think most fans will agree with saying their lyrics are rather naff. Even when I listened to Muse regurlarly I never took a word he said seriously or rather, I never thought they were good!

I listen to The Hives too, but I'd say Justin Hawkins writes better lyrics than Randy Fitzsimons!

I listened to their second album a few weeks back for the first time in ages and I thought it was fantastic. Pretty underrated I think.

You only have to watch and read their interviews (Hawkins without much cocaine) to realise that they do have a sense of humour.

But Citizen Erased and Megalomania have very good lyrics relating to society and religion. Pretty normal topics to write lyrics about. Also thought provoking.

Ah, The Darkness. I live in the town where they're from. My dad went to school with them and they opened the music department at my school a few years ago.

Can't say I'm really a fan though. I like Christmas Time and I Believe in A Thing Called Love, but that's about it.
