Yeah, it's not easy to just switch to Litestep, it's a whole different way of navigating, but once you get along with it it's pretty neat

plus, the folders and everything stays windows ;)

You can use replacements for the standard explorer and then make your own "skins" etc.

It replaces windows explorer as the look. Litestep just changes the shell, it runs from startup, and stays there till you shut down.

Yeah my computer began fucking up months ago, and I have not had time to clean up or fix it.. it has progressively been getting out of hand. I set my desk top background to a photo of mounting rubbish because it seemed suiting.

Yup, you just goto the Control Panel, and Display like normal. When you right click you get the options;

File manager (the computers explorer)
Text editor (notepade)
Litestep (all litestep customisation options etc etc)
Programs (just like when you goto start>programs)
Quicklaunch (any shortcuts that were made on the quicklaunch toolbar)
System (which has links to my computer, control panel, run, shut down etc)
Tasks (the tasks that are open currently)

The best thing about the Slick skin, is you can middle click on the mouse, and it's a shortcut to the tasks pane. Very nift. When you minimize on the Slick skin, it'll dissapear to the Tasks pane. The desktop hides all icons, and you can access them through the File manager. You can customise to whatever you want showing up when you right click also. That's if you know how to do the code, it's pretty simple; just I haven't yet bothered. To customise your menu, simply Right click on desktop>litestep>edit config>personal files>popup and edit that in notepad I think.

There's all sorts of different skins, and each have different things they do.

So I've installed litestep and you're right, the default is heinous, but I can't work out how to install that slick one...

You unzip the Slick folder into the Litestep Themes folder. When it's in there, right click on desktop>litestep>change themes>refresh list

Then go do that again, but instead of refreshing the list, click on Slick. It'll start downloading modules and stuff then. If you have any more problems, PM me.
