That was it then there was the encore which I got the fuck out of there before that. The set was cool with the big screen and all the fireworks and fire but Nickelback flat out sucks balls. Chevelle was kickass and Trapt was ok.

I am usually all for music tastes being subjective and there being no right and wrong and that such thing as "educated" music taste is a non-existant thing, but Nickelback is an expection.

To be honest, I think the band is expectional aswell, because there seems to be no good explanation why something like them could have merged into existance. For starters, not a single god of any religion could have anything so absolutely averagely shitty. Natural catastrophes, diseases and the general evil will of a human being are all ok, but Nickelback? Even the most evil god of the most evil world couldn't do it - just because they'd have to bear the embarrassement of being the creator of such a thing. They'd be instantly expelled from Hogwarts and all the other cool places gods get to be at.

I am actually quite afraid that Darwin's theory of evolution is at stake due to Nickelback. The fact that they exist isn't crossing the line yet - remember we do have pandas that can't walk downhill as pups since they're too clumsy and their main food is bamboo, which lacks anything that could be remotely valuable as energy source - but the fact that they have sold millions of copies and have managed to survive this long is extremely worrying. Then again, we do not know what Nickelback is. The last thing to live on earth after everything goes shite is probably cockroaches and bacteria. I assume that speaking with evolutionary terms, Nickelback's true identity must reside somewhere near those forms of life.

Whatever they are is not the main point of worry though. The fact that human beings seem to buy their music and *gasp* like it, strikes me as something that is just unexplainable. It's a philosophical dilemma - there seems to be not a single logical reason why anyone would do that. The only possible explanation seems to be that humans must be irrational beings, which in turn goes against our whole developement as species!

The scifi part of me would like to think there must have been some sort of a dimensional glitch. Maybe a few stars collapsed at the same time and ripped open the wall to our universe and somehow thrusted Nickelback here. I think this idea might be plausible, since they originated from Northern America, which we all know, is messed up altogether, meaning the rip in dimensional space did all sort of other damage as well - I am mainly speaking about the republican party here. It seems that it's only getting worse.

I do not know the ultimate reason for their existance or their absolutely horrid music, but I am absolutely sure that the band proves that humans can't, in any way, be good, if they're capable of producing such thing or like it.

Ok from that list I like Nickelback, Staind, Three Doors Down and Puddle of Mudd. but however I have only heard lke 2 or 3 songs from POM and 2 from Staind and only liked the one.

But I listen to them because of certain songs that are good. Most people who hate eg Nickelback have only heard songs like Rockstar & How you remind me where as other songs on other albums are actually alright. Like Just Foris a good song but hardly anyone has heard it. 3 Doors Down, some songs are alright some very naff. POM I only heard one song which is the obvious one.
Still like to vary in different music though. So I can listen to NIN (who i love) but most of their songs sound the same and still like it..

I think they used to be good. I never owned any of their music, but I really liked Silver Side Up. I still think their songs from around that time are great. Unfortunately, they struck upon an effective formula for making commercially successful and very safe singles, which they don't stray from.

Most of my mates at Uni like them and got me to listen to some of their songs (I'd only ever really listened to How you remind me before) and I ended up buying Dark Horse. I love Burn it to the ground, Gotta be somebody and I'd come for you but got to admit the rest is a bit meh & samey and I do think there's so many better bands around.

I have such amazing memories of listening to NB, going to their gigs with my first girlfriend etc loved their last couple of albums but perhaps i've grown out of them? that part of my life is very much in the past. the new album is pretty much every criticism of NB there is, samey songs, usual topics of sex, drinking, women etc they've just figured 'if it aint broke dont fix it'. don't know what to make of it all really. it is gone 4am though, i'll sleep on it, listen to some of it again tomorrow and try to be more comprehensible.

I know the feeling. A band that's not considered great but you listened to them when you were younger so they hold that memory. My problem with Nickelback is that they just overshadow so many greater bands. But also, Kroener's arrogance irks me- particularly his rather Durst-like tendency to lash out at other artists and generally go for their fans- at least, say, Trent Reznor or Corey Taylor rips the musician themselves a new one.

Musically, I find them annoyingly stagnant and Kroener comes across as bumptious and crassly sexist.
