What do you think Muse's most underrated songs are?
I think Screenager is a huge contender cos if you listen to it without listening to the rest of OOS before it, its great!!
Map of your head is a great song, too good to be a B side and Ruled By Secrecy is great if you're in the right mood.

So many!!! The MOST underrated song would have to be "Ruled By Secrecy"

Others include, "Shrinking Universe", "Pink Ego Box", "Darkshines"...

I would proberly sayunintended, although all musers have heard the song and its popualr wid most of em, i think it should be like one of muses main songs which they play at all concerts like sunburn & Muscle museum ect...

cause thats one of muses best in my opinion :)

Fury, on the Japanese album version, is the most underrated, because it didn't make it onto the euro or US version!!! It's such a fantastic song!

The Plugged In Baby
25-04-2004, 01:48 PM
I'd have to say that there's one off each album at least:

Showbiz: 'Showbiz' and 'Sober'
OOS: 'Darkshines' and 'Megalomania'
Absolution: 'Falling Away With You' and 'Ruled By Secrecy'

B-Sides: 'Eternally Missed' (which was absolutely amazing live, and deserved to be on the album or have a single of its own, the live version is better than the studio), 'Do We Really Need This?' and 'Instant Messenger' (better than Pink Ego Box)

I would say Escape :) I'm obsessed with it at the moment.

I think Falling Down is their most underrated song full stop. Especially on this board, I just don't understand why everyone hates it so much.

26-04-2004, 08:37 AM
I don't think they really do have any 'underrated' songs.

As for every song that some people think is naff, there will be about the same amount of people who think it's good.

What is, in your opinion, the most underrated Muse song? For example, the song that they never perform live, or the song that should have been released as a single but never was, or the b-side that should have been an album track.

I would have to say 'Hate This & I'll Love You'. I personally prefer this to 'Unintended' and I've hardly ever seen them perform it live. Plus, it is probably the best epic on Showbiz.

Anyone else?

Screenager is awesome. It wouldn't be commercial success if released as a single but who cares... I imagine they would have done a cool video for it. And they should play it live more often. Piano or guitar version, both are great :)
Recess and Shrinking Universe could have been album tracks. Two of my favourite songs.
The Gallery is also good. I have to listen to Hullabaloo now.

Probably 'Endlessly', first off. Every review of the album said that it was a weak track, but it's one of my personal favourites, as it's so beautiful and heartfelt.

'Fury', obviously, but that's a well loved track, only here because it should have found a place on our version of the album. :)

'Host' is a good track to listen to when you've just been dumped ( :'( ) so buying the Cave single was well worth it, and not a lot of the Muse fans I know seem to have heard of it, which is a tragedy.

Other than that, probably 'Eternally Missed', which is an amazing live track, and the music box type effect used is really strange, but fits that song well.

Screenager is very under-rated, especially the live piano version. As far as B-sides go, when you listen to Fury you can see why Matt wanted it on the album instead of TSP.

Cheesy Grin
29-08-2004, 04:13 PM

i think Shrinking Universe, hyper chondriac music(maybe with anothers lyrics) and Spiral Static could have been added to an album and performed a little bit more live...

Cheesy Grin
29-08-2004, 06:29 PM
I think HyperChondriac music is better than hyper music but because of the way the album worked it wouldnt have fitted. Oh and I managed to get hold of OoS in my local music zone and it had 12 tracks but it wasnt the japanese one and i dont know what the extra track is. It could be futurism i guess could someone post the lyrics to the chorus please? thanks

=Chris=

I think HyperChondriac music is better than hyper music but because of the way the album worked it wouldnt have fitted.
well, i don't think we can appreciate each other by the same way. They're complettely different even they're the same song with the same melody and lyrics. I really love the orchestration of Hyper chondriac music, but hyper music is very energic...
they could use the music of hyper chondriac music to create another one...

Cheesy Grin
29-08-2004, 06:50 PM
yeah thatd be superb. But i reckon on a mellower album hyper chondriac music would have definitely made it on. but coz of the more chaotic style of OoS its predecessor was the obvious choice

I think another underrated one is Cave, i know quite a few people who are huge muse fans who say it's their favorite....i don't think it gets enough credit, it is crazy and absolutely beautiful....gah!

After all these people saying Invincible is crap (me being one of them) how can it be underrated. Considering how so many people don't like it, if anything it is overrated (being a single).

It depends on what you mean by underrated.

By the way. No hard feelings, everyone has their own opinions and I think it's great that you like it and that you will enjoy it when they overplay it live, I just think it's annoying.

It depends on what you mean by underrated.

By the way. No hard feelings, everyone has their own opinions and I think it's great that you like it and that you will enjoy it when they overplay it live, I just think it's annoying.

well its obviousley down to person preferance... i think Invincible is their most under rated song as it seems to be almost dispiced by a big chunk of Muse's fanbase....yet i think it is genius and possibly their greatest song... so i think it isn't being appreciated for what a gd song it really is...thats how i would use the term 'underated'...how else could the word be used????
