I just think that this show is one of the best on TV and I am so glad that we can now watch it on more4. The content is superb, it really is a cross between brasseye and newsnight. Jon Stewart is charming and funny, as are the rest of the cast. Long may Jon reign over american political satire. To quote the man "welcome to democracy bitch!".

i've been downloading this for the best part of 6 months every day it's on, I love this show to bits. All of the correspondants are excellent too, favourite is Rob Corddry. I'm watching the latest one right now!
You may also want to see if you can find the colbert report, kinda different but it's on the daily shows ex correspondants on his own show.

My god I love you space boy! I thought no-one on here watched it!I had to watch it online also before we got it on more4! Rob Corddry is so funny. Did you see his special on racists last week? I nearly wet myself. Jason Jones is another excellent correspondent even though he is fairly new.
Oh plus did you see ricky gervais on it? That was especially funny.

I saw an episode and wasn't impressed, maybe I just didn't get most of what he was talking about. The Late Edition on BBC4 with Marcus Brigstocke suits me better since I know most of the politicians he's ridiculing!

I suppose this is true as you probably have to have a knowledge of american politics. When is the late edition back on BBC4, because I really enjoyed that, being in the same format as the daily show n' all.

Haha! Um, let me think...it's always good when they have Boris on, or Jack Dee, or Jeremy Clarkson, Anna Ford was quite good as was Kirsty Young. It does suck though when they get a crap presenter. :(

I wasn't all that impressed with the Gervais interview, it was all a bit nicey nicey. I expected them to be throwing funny lines left and right but they just talked about middle age spread :(
Jason Jones' new years baby special was excellent, I saw Corddrys racism special, so fuckin funny.
The kid that does the trends report, demetri martin. I'm watching his standup show just now, very funny :)
Aww, I love Jon Stewart with a fiery passion.

Tues 25 April Efraim Halevy
Wed 26 April Tom Selleck
Thurs 27 April Thomas Friedman
Fri 28 April Robin Williams
Can someone in Americaland work out how delayed that is for us? like, how many days? I don't think it's much.

I try to watch this show often because it's the more informative of the two...although I find myself watching more of the Colbert Report because he pwns. When it comes to guests yeah Jon has more prominent figures...but Colbert has David Cross on his show multiple times...he wins. :D
I dunno about what Colbert's show is like, but out of Jon and Stephen, I find Jon the funnier. Colbert may be more deadpan, but I find Jon's observations to be funnier.

If you want to really appreciate Colbert, watch a few minutes of Glenn Beck. :D
Certain things I think are directly influenced by Beck's annoying little schtik on CNN...

I'm starting to think that this show will jump the shark once Bush leaves office.
There will always be politicians to make fun of, but Dubya is the quintessential pot of gold to comedians. It certainly won't be the same without him.
Dead Ringers in the UK has lost the main butt of its jokes too in GWB going.

The show immediately after the election had a distinctly morning-after-the-night-before feel, but it was back on form tonight (show from 6th November).

It won't jump the shark, but it might not be as funny any more. To be honest, if that meant that the Government was doing a good job, I'd happily have the Daily Show being crappy.

John Oliver and Larry Wilmore are my favourites too. The only correspondant I don't like is Wyatt Cenac. For some reason I never find his segments funny.
Wyatt Cenac is a bit hit and miss, in my opinion. I've found some of his segments really funny, and some haven't made me laugh at all.

BTW, UK fans of Daily Show/Colbert Report, there is a way to watch clips from the website that doesn't block you. Need to install the Modify Headers add-on, open it, add one under the name 'X-Forwarded-For' and the value '12.13.14.15', make sure the green light is on, keep the window open, and you should be able to watch clips on their website. :D

He went a bit O'reilly on Thiessen :stunned:
I know! It made me happy, but it was definitely the kind of journalism he normally makes fun of. Big difference of course that he was not only interrupting the guest to shut him up, but also to share his very valid points. He probably prepared very well for this talk and it looked like he just wanted to share everything he himself had thought of before the show was over.
Looks like he anticipated Thiessen's answers but didn't wait for him to say them out loud and just skipped the parts where Thiessen was supposed to talk to give his rebuttal.
The Glenn Beck parody was beyond awesome!
