Father Ted is brilliant in so many ways. The fact that that angry, sulky teenager that Dougal befriends in the 'missing whistle' episode is a priest. The fact that the island is swarming with priests. The blasphemy. The irony. The silliness. Just everything
And it's so low budget as well, it's brilliant
"Will you have a cake father?"
"Oh no, Mrs Doyle, I'm fine."
"Go on, they're only small."
"No, really, Mrs Doyle, I'm alright thank you."
"Go - ON. They're so small you won't even know you're eating it."
"Well... I will know I'm eating it... honestly Mrs Doyle, I'm alright for now."
"Go on father... they've got... cocaine in them!"
"WHAT?!"
"...Oh, sorry, no, what was I thinking, not cocaine. They've got RAISINS in them father"
Got the comepete boxset for xmas!:D *dances like a nob* I've got all the feck I'll ever need now hehe.

I'm gonna have to buy the boxset.
I love it so much. It's the only good irish show and is so funny.
Father Damo is one of the best characters in it.

Is that his name? Father Damo. "I don't want any stupid tea!"
"Which do you prefer? Oasis or Blur?"
"Er, Blur."
"WHA?!"
"Oh right, er, Oasis"

One of my favourite episodes is where they are on a plane, with the cellotape dispenser, "you have torn off 3 inches, god bless you!"
I like that episode when Father Jack says arse.

I've heard too that they are going to make a version of it in the US........ oh gawd they'll mess it up big time... Americans just want to be irish lol..
Oh and i've been to the house it was filmed in! woo!
I like that episode when Father Jack says arse.
 Tis a good one.
One of my fav Father Ted moments is when Ted is shitfaced celebrating kicking Bishop Brennon up the arse. Jack walks in, and Ted turns and screams "Feck Off!" Watching Jack run away made me lol
I like the one where Jack "dies".
And "I love my brick" kept people at school entertained for weeks.

Father Ted is just a legend:
The Car that they raffle off.... the rabbits..... the Golden Cleric...... My lovely horse... the scene they all get lost in the ladies lingerie section of the department store...all legendary.
Mrs Doyle is a goddess of the tea urn, 'ahhk, gewen, gewen, gewen, gewen, gewen...GEWEN!' Dont ever refuse a cup of tea or buy her a tea's maid!

Wrong wrong wrong! You can't improve on perfection and shouldn't try. Really jealous you've seen the actual house. Really jealous!
A song for Europe used to be my favourite episode, but it probably now New Jack City- the one where Fintan Stack replaces Father Jack when he's dispatched to St Clabbert's with the old hairy hands thing.
I've had my fun and that's all that matters. and the bit where Dougal and Ted are talking upstairs while Stack's drilling holes in the wall, playing jungle music and starts making this manic shouty noise; they pause for him to stop roaring and then carry on as normal chatting away when he stops. Genious!
One day I want to go to the annual Father Ted festival they have in March on the island where they filmed it. Shame it'd cost about as much as a fortnight in Florida what with all the flights, ferries etc etc to get there cos it's so remote:(
Would be great to do some freak pointing, see the ladder, the cat on a record player and get lost in the tunnel of goats with some nurses.

The best bit is when he's actually being questioned by the bishops and for once, answers the question (incorrectly) with 'that would be an ecumenical matter' and just as he starts, Ted gives him a sharp nudge sp Jack just shouts 'YES!' instead.
.
Great episode that.
