Modest Mouse rock my world. I haven't got the new album yet but have their entire back Catalouge and went to London to see them in January. Everyone should own The Moon and Antartica.

ooooo i love modest mouse. saw them in concert and it was amazing. isaac goes insane! and plays the banjo. I LOVE BANJOS. it was a great concert. the new album is unbelievable. personally, i think moon and antarctica is one of the greatest albums ever, but i definitely love this one a lot - the mood, the banjo, some of the "dancier" moments and float on... damn, great album. plus, the new drummer rocks... his side project helio sequence opened for modest mouse on tour and was excellent. the lead singer played the harmonica. unfortunately, their album is quite terrible. how odd. but yes, i love modest mouse :D

I actually like their older stuff better but their new album isn't bad. I really like the artwork and colours for the CD =D

And I can't stand the lead singer's voice at all. I don't think that counts as actually singing >_>;;

The new album is good - but like you, I prefer The Moon and the Antarctic. The Lonesome Crowded West is also brilliant. It was before they got signed so it's very raw and edgy. You can normally find it for quite cheap!

Cool. I'll get to smack Dan one and tell him to reform Murder City Devils.

So a band that played with only one guitarist for most of their life have now decided to play with three? Me thinks Dan was only keeping the plate warm and has now fucked off. Check Area 51 out. *nods*

Fifth - March Into The Sea/Dashboard

This is going to be hard just one right.....how about two Ok lets start with the major studio records

#1). This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About:
Dramamine/Custom Concern

#2). The Lonesome Crowded West(This is my all time favorite album and i love all the songs on it but the two that jumped out at me were)
Doin' the Cockroach/Truckers Atlas

#3). The Moon & Antarctica
The Stars Are Projectors/Lives

#4).Good News for People Who Love Bad News
Bukowski/Black Cadillacs

#5).We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank
Parting of the Sensory/March into the Sea

How about you?

JoBear
26-12-2007, 04:08 AM
It's pretty tricky for me too...going with the major records too:

1) Ohio / Might
2) Trailer Trash / Polar Opposites
3) Life Like Weeds
4) The View
5) March into the Sea / Parting of the Sensory

March into the Sea is such an awesome song, I wish they played it live.

I listened to Parting of the Sensory almost religiously when I first got the album too.

I'm quite a fan of We've Got Everything as well, used to be my bus song when travelling to work. I love the bit where Isaac sings like he is standing behind you whispering into your ear:

We receded like waves out of the store
Didn't want it, didn't need
But we knew we that we could steal
Left it dying on the floor

It was awesome to see Parting of the Sensory live at the Forum in London.

I love these guys. So amazing live and their lyrics are incredibly amazing. The Moon & Antarctica is my favorite album of all time and everyone should listen to it (although a lot of people complain about Isaac's voice, which I love but that seems to be the #1 complaint against them.)

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this or not, but their name comes from a Virginia Woolf poem (The Mark on the Wall) and Isaac originally wanted them to be called "The Modest Mouse Coloured People" (or something close to that, my memory is a bit fuzzy) but it was too long therefore was shortened to "Modest Mouse."

Modest mouse are great... I love "This is a long drive for someone with nothing to think about" , Dramamine is a fantastic song. The ocean breathes salty is pretty amazing as well.

Booked tickets to a festival they're playing as they hadn't announced a London date.

Then they announce a London date.

But Modest Mouse twice within a couple days in September? Fuck yeah.
