Unfortunately, I don't use twitter. I have an account but have never used it. Actually, I only have one because two friends decided to create one for me, but the username they found for me is terribly ridiculous and makes me look like a sad Josh Homme fan girl.:noey:
Let's hope there won't be another ban after that.

So glad I got to see Fun Machine and Better Living Through Chemistry live, soooo good, I was hoping for Someone's in the Wolf but you can't have it all. Easily the best set I saw at Glasto

In an interview, Josh said that they're going back into the studio after the tour to continue work on the new album, and that they have about 15 or so song fragments that they're gonna work on :D. Also, no new DS anytime soon. apparently.

Just goes to prove (finally I suppose) Josh's reasons. I wouldn't want a guy like that in my band... and its disappointing in the end. I mean five hour stand off, you must be a real persistent asshole.

Looks like it :noey: I mean, unlike a lot of people, I'm perfectly happy with Mikey Shoes being the new bassist, in fact, as a bassist, he's far tighter than Nick. But I would love to see a proper version of Millionaire and Quick and to the Pointless live at some point, and there was no doubt about his stage presence. It's just a shame that he seems like a wanker.

I'm Designer is incredibly Interlude with Ludes, Era Vulgaris chorus is incredibly Gunman chorus. All 4 songs are incredible mind you. Been listening to Era a lot recently, really good stuff. Era and Turnin', along with I'm Designer are standouts for me.
Rated R is great, and I love many of the tracks (first 3, In The Fade, Better Living among others) but can't stand some like Monsters In The Parasol and Auto Pilot.
Also, rewatching the Glasto performing, is that the first time Josh did the cool solo jam in the intro to Burn The Witch? Just goes to show his skill at improvising.

But yea, frankly, I don't have a problem with him not being in the band. He didn't make QOTSA any worse or better, just different like every other member that has come and go did (like your kinda supposed to in the band).

I wouldn't worry about it, I've listened to QOTSA for ages but I only started listening to Desert Sessions recently. Some really great tracks hidden away on there though. I just wouldn't expect to buy anything other than Vol. 9&10 for anything under £30, and that's optimistic. It's mostly on youtube/grooveshark though. I think Joey's bloody great for QOTSA. I used to get fed up of people bitching all the time that he played too fast. Even more tedious that the 'bring back Nick, wahhmbulance' types.
He's also been handy with Eagles of Death Metal too.
It annoys me that people forget that QOTSA had two other drummers before Grohl turned up.

+1 to all of this. Joey fits in with QOTSA far better than Grohl did if you look at the drummers before him. He's got a lot in common with Hernandez. I found Joey's drum parts more interesting to listen to as well myself, with the exception of First It Giveth, which is epic.

Back on the Joey debate, I think he is a fantastic drummer. Actually, even though I can't really compare because I only got to see the band live recently and was not familiar with QOTSA enough when Nick Oliveri was still playing for them, I do find there's a good alchemy between the current members.
I remember at their Paris gig last May, someone behind me was hoping Dave Grohl would play that night. Errrrr what? why? He was not even supposed to be in France. :wtf:

:noey: I think most of the people who care that much about Grohl being in the band would rather they see him there just for bragging rights more than anything to do with the music. The chances of Grohl ever performing with Queens again are miniscule. Their loss if they can't appreciate them without him though!

Yea I wanna read it too!!! I want scans! :)
It's good to see Joey get the recognition that he deserves  I think he fits the band dynamic better than Grohl does.
I thin Grohl was good for his time, but now Joey's got his style in, and it seems to flow better. Dave was only meant to be temporary and he contributed well when he was in it, but Joey needs far more recognition, because I think of him no less a drummer--most others seem to simply because he's not as famous. Dave couldn't come back now I don't think... it would be a bit weird. He's a Vulture, not a Queen.
I think Joey's bloody great for QOTSA. I used to get fed up of people bitching all the time that he played too fast. Even more tedious that the 'bring back Nick, wahhmbulance' types.

On a happier note, finished watching the Bourdain show... and how awesome it was! Makes me wanna go out there just for the meat!

I'm definitely not going to be sorry for him. But it's sad to read that he ends up so low.

Being a vegetarian, I'm not going to lie: I was not impressed by all this meat.
But it made me want to visit the Californian desert even more.

All of them? :awesome:
Hmmmm I guess Songs for the Deaf would be a good start. Maybe I'm suggesting this one because it's the first QOTSA album I bought and listened to.

I agree with Girl Anachronism (sorry don't know your name!). If you're gonna get into QOTSA, then it's worth checking out all of their albums :D Songs for the Dead is as safe a place to start as any.

I'd say Lullabies to Paralyze, it took me a while to get into Songs for the Deaf, but you could pick any really, they're all great

+1 on Rated R first
I got Lullabies to Paralyze first but couldn't really 'get' into the album whereas Rated R was more accessible. I've got Lullabies to Paralyze now obviously but I do prefer Rated R

I've played Songs for the Deaf for people and many didn't like how scream-y some of the songs are (cough, Six Shooter/You Think I Ain't Worth a Dollar) so yeah, I'd definitely say Rated R - it has a bit of everything. Loud, shouty, moody, melodious.
Oh and drugs. Lotsa drugs.

Rated R would be all good if it weren't for Leg Of Lamb and Monsters In The Parasol which kind of disrupt the whole experience of the album for me though. Everything else is aaaall good though. In The Fade, Headache, Better Living

Rated R like most others are saying. I started with SFTD and LTP, but they're not as eclectic as Rated R. It will pretty much introduce you to everything QOTSA, and then depending on the styles you like best in that album, you can go from there of further albums to listen to :) I love how I assume you'll just be getting more :chuckle: Trust me, you'll love em

I never really 'got' The Sky Is Falling, to be honest. I mean, it's a great song, I just don't view it as one of QOTSA's best. Haven't seen it live though, opinions on songs can change drastically after that.

When do people think the new album will be released? I'd say early 2012, but I don't really know too much about the process of making a album. With the exception of Era, they've been made in quite a short time with Queens, if I remember correctly, although that doesn't necescarily mean it'll be released anytime sooner, I suppose. Some of Mikey's live bass work has been superb, so I'm looking forward to seeing what him and Dean add to the next record.

That puts the new Vultures album on hold again :(
When JPJ and Josh are free, Dave runs off with Foos. Just as that tour finishes, we'll have a new QOTSA album... and etc.
I seem to recall Josh saying something about a TCV before the next Queens.

Yeah, I remember him saying that too, but he said to Zane Lowe he'd start work on a new Queens album as soon as they finished touring, which they have now. Doesn't really make sense. Although there were quite a few TCV songs that weren't put on the last album, so maybe they don't have to work on that much.

One thing I'm pretty sure Josh said in a more recent interview is that they wanted to make a fresh start. I doubt they would even remember how to play those old songs. But they said they were gonna leave the old TCV album completely in terms of the new records.
Which is sad, really. Can't Possibly Begin to Imagine and Highway 1 are real gems.

I got to chat a bit with Michael Schuman yesterday after the Foster the People gig finished (he was the support act with his band Mini Mansions). So I asked for news about the new QOTSA album or if it was secret. He told me it was a secret but that he wasn't sure the album will be released in 2012. He added it could take a while. :(
But he is absolutely lovely (and very handsome too). And he told me he loved the top I was wearing. My shallow self appreciated. :$
