thre is none, they released the lbum 5 demos but the fans didnt like them and neither did rivers so they scrapped them. You are bunch of pooey weezer fans, they are much bigger than budy holly, nice song and all but pinkerton is one of the more inch perfect 35 minutes of music i have ever purchased. It sold nothnig but it was brilliant. Rivers really showed his sad lonely side. Great band, great melody writer

Oh dear... shut the hell up.
*gasp* Did i just do what I think I did?!
Just because you think differently to the other weezer fans, does not make any of them any less of a fan than you, and Buddy Holly was a classic. I hardly believe that they cancelled all ideas for an album just because certain demos they did weren't any good.

there is going to be an album but it's even more in termoil now, if you look on their site or weerez.com you will see the ideas for album 5 have been scrapped. IF a person has only heard buddy holly and a handfull of singles they really cant be a real fan, it's like if i came along and said "oh yeah muse are great sing for absolution, is this their first album?"
EDit obviously there are weezer fans who love buddy holly and are pure weezer fans i didnt denounce that song, i only claimed there is much more to the band than that single

Well you'd be an idiot because sing for absolution isn't an album. :indiffere Plus it is pretty clear that if they know Buddy Holly (which is from their first album) that they most likely have heard other songs too, and if that's not the case - no one even said that they have only heard one song or one album, but that that was a great song, which it was. It was a classic. It was precieved brilliantly by many and also has a great album. If you looked at the official weezer board which I'm a frequent member of, you'd also discover that the majority of members there also agree that Buddy Holly is a great song. Of course these people know other songs, so don't act like you know more because you're being precieved as an idiot.
I asked when the album was released, as it will eventually be released, and soon too, therefore your comment was completely invalid.
Don't try and act superior because it will not get you far on this board, or on any board or in general, even.
Edit: To your edit - EVERYONE knows that, here, not just you. Don't doubt people without knowing them.

did i EVER say buddy holly was a bad song? please quote me on that i am waiting. But it seems to me when you say the weezer it seems people f ollow with the words buddy holly. the thing is you ask me about knowing people well you don;t know them to say they know other songs. I was just calling for people to give more credit to other songs along with buddy holly. So dont give credit to people who you dont know.
about the album as said album 5 demos were scrapped for a new idea (no info yet) So i dont see how my comment is invalid? I was talking about the album's progress and obviously if you scrap and idea it is going to add length to the release of anythnig. You're such a picky bastard, such hypocracy too, every single comment you asserted at me can be reversed in a similar picky internet dipolomatic fashion which you have done to mine:
"Oh dear... shut the hell up.
*gasp* Did i just do what I think I did?!"
first of all arrogent and degrading promoting yourself over me, you could have said it in a civilised fashion but you had to appeal to your arrogence, your showmanship.
"Don't try and act superior"
ha what do you call my(your) first quote then? HYPOCRACY
"Just because you think differently to the other weezer fans, does not make any of them any less of a fan than you"
I never asserted myself, try reading posts. I said "nice song and all" and "weezer are much bigger than buddy holly". my oppinion, and your diplomatic fashion i am allowed to t his correct? exactly, and in now way did i degrade weezer fans. you obviously fail to read anything correctly or are looking for trouble.
, "and Buddy Holly was a classic." I NEVER DENIED THIS, READ POSTS
"I hardly believe that they cancelled all ideas for an album just because certain demos they did weren't any good."
it is true they did, they scrapped the album 5 ideas, it is your oppinion that it is hard to believe. I am telling you what came out of the weezer camp. Fact (atleast about the canceling of the IDEA of album 5)
"Well you'd be an idiot because sing for absolution isn't an album." I was making an example of a fan, who's the idiot? who cant read.... you
"Plus it is pretty clear that if they know Buddy Holly (which is from their first album) that they most likely have heard other songs too" bullshit you can't assert that just like i aparently cant assert that people dont know any albums songs (which i didnt even do)
" and if that's not the case - no one even said that they have only heard one song or one album" Again look above, learn to read etc etc
, "but that that was a great song, which it was. It was a classic. It was precieved brilliantly by many and also has a great album." your oppinion (ha so obvious but it seems people choose to catch me out with that old bullshit) i agree. and did not denounce buddy holly in any post. I didnt deny blue was a good or bad album, infact i didnt mention it. You don't know people in this thread owned this album or not etc etc look above.
"If you looked at the official weezer board which I'm a frequent member of"
denouncing and arrogenct surely not?
, "you'd also discover that the majority of members there also agree that Buddy Holly is a great song." Not once did i denouce buddy holly as a bad song READ
" Of course these people know other songs, so don't act like you know more because you're being precieved as an idiot." Your oppinon (about the idiot comment) how do you know what poeple think etc. same with people knowing other songs. I onyl said the stuff about album 5 because i read it FFS understand iam trying to inform you, or atleast discuss it. What is this stupid denial about the denials of album 5 and it how it's initial demos have been scrapped/
"Don't try and act superior because it will not get you far on this board, or on any board or in general, even." Hypocrit
"Edit: To your edit - EVERYONE knows that, here, not just you. Don't doubt people without knowing them. " look above
Look i don't want to argue but obviously you take everything the wrong way so i bring the knives to comabt your bullshit. You seem to take every comment in some way the wrong way, as if i ask people to give more credit to other weezer songs suddenly i am denouncing buddy holly and all other fans. I was overlly picky on your posts to show you how much of this you created in \YOUR head without properly reading my posts and the picky diplomatic commetns (you cant nkow what other people know) when you make the same comments(towards another angle of discussion). Personally i hate this diplomacy, but if you choose to use it and be a hypocrit then i will combat fire with first.
thank you.

I said don't doubt people, I never doubted anyone but you because you talk alot of shit and can't use the quoting system correctly. I'm not the one calling these people pooey fans because they say they respect buddy holly. For someone who doesn't want to fight, your surely going the wrong way about it. If you don't want an arguement then walk away. Jeez - All i said was that you talk alot of crap and that you're wrong. Which I still believe. Take that into your head and try and reason with me if you don't want a fight.

you backed me into a corner so i swang. When i tried explain what i meant in my post and how i didnt degrade weezer fans in my post you pushed more. Then i swang. Ok i will say this, pooey fans wasnt my finest hour and i admit that i shouldnt have doubted people there, but it doesnt give you the right to assume they DO know other songs and promote them(if we are being picky again here). I am not going to pick apart that post like i did last time. if you want to phrase you posts less aggresivly then maybe you wont get the same responce (same with me and pooey fans etc)

If you're able to admit you were wrong then that's fine, but I do know these a people a good bit better than you as I've almost been here a year. ;) I know for a fact that some of these people are in love with weezer etc.

about pinkerton i think it's just such a high quality album, just when you think it's all over and no more songs can come out they hit you with pink triangle and falling for you (i love that song). He has real conviction in his vocals does rivers

The highlights of the album are clearly No One Else, Why Bother?, Across the Sea, The Good Life, Falling For You and Butterfly. When more than half of an album are tied as the highlights - that's a good sign. Well Rivers is the vocalist and it really is such a guitar song.

as a bassist i always liked the getchoo bassline, tired of sex is always nice too (nto that i have experienced it lol, but as a song) Ditto on across the sea, ah deary me, i must listen to that album again.
btw on OID, it just shows how much of a great song writer they (or rivers ) is, the perfect building up to orgasmic guitar solo(listenign to it right now) he uses conventions of "pop" so well, making the return to chorus hit so damn hard it almost knocks you out of your boots

Exactly. What's wrong with rivers? I really can't see how that in any way is a bad song. It just leads up so damn well and the aftermath is great too. It is over-all in my top 3 weezer songs, and it's the only one I can say is definitely up there because the others are undecided.
What I love I really adore about Weezer are Rivers lyrics. They are so sincere and have so much emotion from first track to last. He sings with so much conviction. The way he phrases his words, he makes me swoon every time. On the topic of OID ohh yes the way it builds up, to me the instruments communicate so much of the emotions they are trying to express.(if that makes sense, I'm no good at explaining myself). I can tell I like a band when I can listen to their cds and never tire of them, thats what happens when I listen to Weezer, I love it.
I like Weezer.
I've only heard a few songs though,
but I really like "Buddy Holly" :D & "My Name Is Jonas" :D

For Weezer starters, I reccomend 'Weezer' (self-titled). Then buy the green album. And then buy Pinkerton or Maladroit would be in order. Pinkerton is there best but you've got to wait for a while. The Blue Album (weezer- the self titled one) has to be first... the green album can be second, but not necessarily. That's the order I'd reccomend anyone to go in.
Yes I agree, the blue album first.

personally the green album almost put me off a bit, i like it now but nowhere as much as pinkerton. but pinkerton is well, it's different, i guess that's why oi liked it so much.
btw do any of you peoples think the green album is a bit of a finger in the face of the mainstream audience? Kinda rivers saying "FFS i put my soul on an album and you didn't buy it, you want mainstream I will give you mainstream!"

Because they wanted to - CATCHY does not define mainstream. It's not a mainstream album, it's a catchy album, and they wanted their songs to be catchy because catchy songs are well written songs. Fuck sake. You're really beginning to bug me.

i am am i? I just find your posts just.....just.... imposing, it's just like you always try to throw a spanner in the works of some sort of anyones posts. It;s difficult to pinpoint.
As for the green, it's feels more like an album where each song could easily have been a single, and written deliberatly to that plan. And to be fair though weezers legacy has been built on writing great pop songs, but at different extents throughtout their legacy.
Imo it has to do with how pinkerton sold poorly, it bombed and it felt rivers was forced to write the green how it was

it sounds kind of Everclear-ish to me.....there was a press release saying 'not to judge the song too directly, it's part of a much bigger whole' which i'm not sure is a good sign or not. I smell concept album
it's not too bad though, anticipating the album muchly
i've been looking forward to the album for a while, but i can't help be a bit a cynical. that song didn't help too much fingers crossed i'm wrong. i really want the weez to return to form :D

Yo, my band d00d knows Pat Wilson personally. We loathe Brixton Academy bouncers cos we =w= invited us to go up to after-show party after they played a coupla yrs ago...bouncers didnt let us up, fuckers. At least I got to meet Muse and a few other kool people at the =W= gig.
My band d00d is going up to party this june at Brixton, doubt if he'll be able to sneak me up there too.
He's asked Pat to produce us.
He also got to listen to the 5th album songs like ages ago...they took him up on the tour bus and he jammed with them for a while, and they asked his opinion. Nice.
I love him...

*listens...*
oooh i picked it up yesterday, after an initally uneasy listen its growing on me a lot, even beverly hills seems better now it flows quite nicely i like the electronica one, only issues really are the i love my best friend song the lyrics just seem i dunno a bit rubbish and altho the bonus tracks are cool (and start of butterfly is hilarous) i'd of kinda rather just of had the whole album on a disc alone cos i find weez albums (mainly first 2) are great albums to listen to all the way through like a full piece of work rather than a collection and having the bonus' sorta spoils it a little more stuff where should be silence :-/ probably a strange complaint i guess.

I know what you mean. Albums should be good enough by themselves to not need extra songs stuck on the end (especially live songs!).
Didnt like it on first listen but Make Believe has definetly grown on me.
Favourite tracks at the moment are This Is such A Pity, Freak Me Out, Haunt You Everyday (the chorus just makes me melt!) and Beverley Hills
Cant wait till i see them next month! :D

Weezer is one of the best bands of my time. I love them. Have since I was very young...then The Green Album and Maladroit came out and I realized how much I hated them, but now with Make Believe, they're back to good ol' Blue Album/Pinkerton style.
Long live the =W=

WOOHOO!!!
After a little travelling to London, we got to the Brixton Academy just in time to hear a few of the support's songs.
Tegan and Sara were OK, but I'd heard better/worse...there were a couple of catchy tunes.
Anyhoo, we got our carling and waited for the bad boys themselves.
Me and Jim had made a little list of stuff we reckoned they'd play. We did really well actually!
They kicked off with Tired of Sex (which surprised us), followed by In the Garage, but after that my memory goes a bit fuzzy, so here's the rest of the songs they played, NOT in order:
No-one Else
Gechoo
Say It Ain't So
Sweater Song
Good life
Buddy Holly
Photograph
Island In the Sun
Peace
Slob
Hold Me
We Are All On Drugs
Beverly Hills
Pardon Me
Encore:
Haunt You Every Day
Hash Pipe
They had their big glowy =W= sign above Pat and they fucking rocked like really rocky things on National Rock Day...
My personal faves last night (that really got me going) were Say It Ain't So and Sweater Song. Pat pulled out a few new tricks on a couple of songs and Brian seemed in a jesty mood, bless :)
Yeah, so my band d00d Jason had backstage invites from Pat and the rest of the band. He met up with them afterwards to talk about producing some of our stuff and gave =W= some more of our CDs...
Must find out how that went...
So, there you go, an utterly fantabulous night of Weezer fun.
(btw, Jason has now started a Weezer tribute band called Weezish and, of course, they're fucking awesome)
Rock on!!! =\m/\m/= WOOHOO!!! (again)

Methinks there's a Weezer thread, but eh.
Tegan and Sara were shite. Is there really a need for THREE people to play the same fucking chords?
Weezer were good, despite there seemingly being a distinct lack of jumping around going on. That may just be because I was in a quiet area.

Britrock - Did you go by train? On the way back were you sitting with a group of three other blokes talking about Mylo and Mogwai and the theme tune to Ulysses 31?

it's you're my best friend that makes me cringe.
and moocow rivers was supposedly quite the shredder in his 80's days and you can hear a bit of his tech guitar playing on an avante garde demo thats around the internet. i don't remember it to be all that impressive on that though lots of metallica style harmonies. rivers said: "I don't dumb down, but my point in playing lead is not to show the extremes of my technique, it's to try to say something melodically. But if you put a gun to my head and said, "Shred!" I could blow some motherfuckers away. It would probably be shocking." on the subject though.

Does anyone know if they truly broke up or they're just on hiatus?
Anyways, I don't know what is it with people hating 'The Green Album' and 'Make Believe'. Personally I think all Weezer albums are great in their own way, just like Muse.
It seems to me that people have a tendency to just dislike anything that gets picked by mainstream radio, regardless of whether is good or not.
Or maybe people don't like them because they think they aren't very good?

Well most of the arguments I've seen against them are because they are 'too poppy', 'too commercial' etc, so I can see Mr. Jingles' point there.
The last thing I heard they denied that they had split up for good, but I don't know...

Well I don't think Weezer have ever really been that commercial. They're rarely on the radio and when I'm in clubs the tune played most often is usually Buddy Holly. I just don't think that Green and Maladroit are very good compared to Blue and Pinkerton.

Awesome.
That song is so much better than anything from their last album too. Apart from maybe We Are All On Drugs.

I hate the new Video.
It's another Green Album thing all over again, trying to win back all the nerds that loved Blue and Pinkerton. It's just lazy and unimaginative to use dumbass internet memes that were only ever mildly amusing for about 5 minutes.
The first 8 tracks of The Red Album are absolute gash too.

They're great on a roadtrip. :D
what's great on a roadtrip, the red album (so far) or weezer, i imagine one may be and one definitely wouldn't be!
30 second samples of all 14 new songs here: http://www.amazon.com/Weezer/dp/B001A62PP6/ref=dm_ap_alb2?ie=UTF8&qid=1210139827&sr=8-1

so..the new album
I definitely prefer it over make believe. I do prefer some songs over the others on this, but I wouldn't say any are necessarily bad.

Theyve got full versions of the memes they used on their Youtube channel also. Theres an acoustic version of Pork and Beans on there with Bran and Tay Zonday (the chocolate rain guy).

it's a good record that for what it is!
i've listened to the red album quite a few times now. the closer is probably my favourite track and i also like the first 4 bit patchy outside of those ones though

The only songs i like here are Everybody Get Dangerous, Miss Sweeney and King.

I still don't get why people complained so much about 'Make Believe'. Sure, it was more commercially oriented than any other Weezer album, but just because an album has a bit of a mainstream appeal it doesn't mean it sucks.
The Red Album wasn't as good as I expected, but it's still decent work IMO.

Make Believe is garbage imo. Pinkerton and The Blue Album are where it's at.
The Red Album is ok, nothing's jumped out at me except Pork and Beans and Dreaming though. Maybe it needs a few more listens.

The rest... mmmmm. Great stuff.

The Red Album is definitely the weakest out of all "color" albums, but still decent. I expected it to be better, though.

Why would they want to release an album so soon? We had to wait 3 years for this one, and barely 3 months after the Red album they want to go back to the studio already?
Unless they are busting our balls.

Damn good show indeed, but I would definitely much rather hear any Weezer song over some stupid Oasis song. Why would they pick 'Morning Glory' instead of 'We Are All On Drugs' or 'Dope Nose' is beyond me.
Their cover of Nirvana's 'Sliver' was fuckin ace though.

Rivers just posted a new video on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6640Xp7ETBw. Apparently that "Lets Write A Song" thing is over, and they're demoing it for a new album.
Also, yeah new album is being recorded. They have 23 songs . How do you write that much in a few months? Hopefully the next record doesnt suck, Jackknife Lee seems like a good producer so hopefully it will be good. Also, hopefully this song doesnt make the new album because, honestly, its not that great. You never know with Weezer, though, they left Miss Sweeney off of The Red Album, so they may include this:LOL:.

I like Weezer, but I prefer their '90's material over their newer stuff.
no UK shows since June 2005.... what the fuck is up with that..!
Their first album was good. Everything else has been a bit mediocre or just rubbish. They usually manage at least one really good song per album though.

Correction, the first two albums are amazing. Everything after that isn't as good but yeah still a few good'uns on every album.
Second album was alright. I wouldn't say it was great. Decent album. Just like most of their albums. Except Make Believe which is actually terrible.
