Maladroit is easily my favourite Weezer album, followed by Blue and Red. Pinkerton is good too and then Green and Make Believe are pretty arse, Green less so than Make Believe.

I always buck the Weezer fan trend in that I love Green and Maladroit, and am not a massive fan of Pinkerton.
how can you lot not rate pinkerton as not only weezers best effort, but one of the best albums of all time?!!!
blue is on a par though for me, both are incredible.
it went rapidly down hill from there. a few good tracks on the red album though, and make believe is listenable if i forget they made two of the best albums ever.

Just wanted to update everyone on the 7th album:
- Rumored collabrations are: Dr. Dre, Aly & AJ, Alicia Keys, Jermaine Dupri (the guy that wrote "We Belong Together"), and Mark Hoppus.
- For touring at least, Pat is playing guitar and drums are taken over by Josh Freese. Rivers isn't playing guitar.
- Rivers got rid of the mustache (thank goodness).
- It will either be released in early summer or late fall (I think that they're designing the release around the Blink tour).
- A rumoured release date is July 14th.
- Rivers is forcing everyone to wear lab coats during recording, for some reason.
- The band are saying that the next album is gonna be exciting.
- Karl is involved with the album and says that it's his "Weezer dream project".
Also, Pinkerton Deluxe may be released on August 25th (), and Weezer are releasing their own brand of Snuggies and "Wuggies" (). Also, some fans are putting together an 8-bit Weezer album, which should be neat.

King would've been better with Rivers on vocals, in my opinion. With Scott, it just sounds like Nickelback .
Just wanted to say, for some reason, Rivers is giving the song "Love Is The Answer" to Sugar Ray, and it will appear on their next album. Love Is The Answer is one of the "fallen soldiers", which were tracks that were recorded for and originally put on Make Believe but were taken off due to last minute tracklist changes. We don't have any yet, but we have original demos of Save Me (the version we have is I Was Made For You) and Losing My Mind (the version we have is called My Brain). Both of those are fantastic, far better then most of MB could ever be.
Anyway, Love Is The Answer is very much sought by lots of Weezer fans because clips of it were played in the Making Of Make Believe thing that came with the CD. Apparently the band love it too. The fact that we're getting it for the first time through Sugar Ray is strange.

The five stages to grieving the death of the Weezer you knew and loved.
Stage One: Denial (The Green Album... "This is just as good...right?").
Stage Two: Anger (Maladroit... "What the @#*! happened to Weezer?!?!?!!")
Stage Three: Bargaining (Make Believe... "This is Such a Pity is a good song. Maybe they can get good again!")
Stage Four: Depression (The Red Album... "If Pork and Beans is as good as it gets I'm going to stab myself in the head.")
Stage Five: Acceptance (Raditude... "Some of this is actually okay. Silly, but kinda fun.")

As soon as Blink 182 were rumoured/leaked/confirmed-as.common-knowledge-without-being-confirmed, I had a guess that Weezer would play it. I knows its stupid logic, but after supporting them, it kinda makes a bit of sense. Plus Rivers saying they coming to Europe next summer helped fuel my suspicion. I just hope they don't support Blink in Europe, specifically Dublin. Although if they do, I will have to go. Much prefer them on their own...they'd sell nearly as big as Blink as it is. Also disgraceful that Paramore are above them.

Haha, I think it was Q mag that first reviewed it, gave it like 1/5, saying it was awful and people would be mad to buy it. Years later, reviewing albums of the decade, they re-reviewed it...with egg on their face. Gave it 5/5, up there with best of the decade. Think thats more accurate!

The setlists are basically:
Greatest Hits
A Couple Of Covers
A Couple Raditude Tracks
A Couple Blue Tracks
One Pinkerton Track
and some riffage that MAY be in the new album, but probably not.
Also, news for those who do not follow Weezer as obsessively as I do: new album out in the next couple months, it's either called Hurley or Heavy Mental. Apparently it's going to a more raw, rocking vibe. The band members have confirmed that it's definitely better then Raditude, AT THIS POINT. They are quick to point out that Raditude was originally a guitar focused album in the vein of b-side The Prettiest Girl In The Whole Wide World, before it suddenly changed, so no one knows. At this point, though, it should at least be a step up from the last album.
In some interesting news, Pat has started posting on the AllThingsWeezer forum, and is voicing his discontent over the band recently. Scott agrees, as does Brian. So basically Rivers is the only one who was happy with the whole Raditude era .

I saw Weezer in Williamsburg recently.
The only track they played from Pinkerton was El Scorcho. Damn, when was the last time they played Across the Sea? I would've loved to hear that!
Not to be controversial or anything but the concert was soo much better than Muse live at MSG *hides*
Oh and

Album wise, they guys are just so inconsistent (bar the first two albums which are excellent). :erm:
The Green Album = poor
Maladroit = very good
Make Believe = awful
The Red Album = great
Raditude = just... bad
I'm expecting the next album to be a good one.
Awesome band, though, despite all the shit they have written.

I honestly gave up on Weezer after The Red Album. After Make Believe, I was sure they couldn't do any worse, but The Red Album proved me wrong. I'm actually too frightened to even listen to Raditude (which I hear is abysmal), much less this new upcoming album. I'm sure I'll hear this new single on the radio eventually, so I'll hold off on the pain until then.
That said, I try not to let any of this taint the greatness of their first few albums.

Actually, Brian Bell came out and said that they're planning it, and that he really hopes it goes through. Granted, Weezer plans lots of things that dont turn out, but we'll see. Though with are luck it'll happen, but Rivers wont play guitar, will jump around on a trampoline, and mash a cover of Pokerface onto the end of Across The Sea.

This from Rivers, so now from two bandmates. And its not just Pinkerton...
“We have this really exciting idea to do a tour where we spend two nights in each city, and the first night, we play the entire Blue Album, and the second night, we play the entirety of Pinkerton. We’re just running it by promoters right now to see if there’s sufficient interest in the markets to do something like that, and if they’re on board, it’s gonna happen.”

Hey, the new Weezer album (yep, theres ANOTHER one, though it's kinda almost a compilation of unreleased outtakes...yeah it's weird) is streaming. It's better the Hurley! :D Still not amazing though. Has some really good stuff though: Turnin' Up The Radio is really fantastic pop, so is Trampoline. There's great moments in Blowing My Stack and The Odd Couple. And Unbreak My Heart is actually a really nice cover in my opinion. Still, though, not super fantastic or anything.

This amused me
Yes, Pinkerton is creepy - that's a major part of why it's so good - all the emotion put into it. That emotion is really quite creepy, but it's conveyed so well and the melodies are amazing. Now Rivers writes vague and meaningless lyrics to try and get a hit and it's just not the same.

"Rivers did not wear his glasses for the Blue Album set. He wore a blue shirt which looked just like the one on the cover of the Blue Album. He played guitar on every Blue Album song (he didn't play guitar on the first 10 songs). Pat Wilson played drums only on the Blue Album songs, except for Only in Dreams when he moved back to guitar and Josh Freese returned to drums. Rivers was silent between songs and stayed on stage during the Blue Album, which was the complete opposite of the way he was running around the audience during the first 10 songs."

They played 8 of the 10 songs on Blue Album, 2 songs from Pinkerton, 'Susanne', their cover of Paranoid Android, and they didn't play Beverly Hills. I call it a win. Plus they set off fireworks at the perfect moment during Buddy Holly, and it just was so perfect. Very great show.
