Perhaps why we both love Pumpkins and Placebo  You either love them or you don't. I just see past the voices really

it's funny because i actually really like both bands and both singers.

15-03-2009, 04:45 PM
For Radiohead, I could buy the boxset before hearing the album, but I don't trust Placebo to produce a good enough album to be worth 70€. I'll buy the boxset after hearing the album, if it's good enough.

The In Rainbows boxset was £30 cheaper though.Yes, but it didn't include two DVDs. But my point stands, you are primarly buying an album, even if there's lots of fancy stuff and if the album isn't that good, you're going to fucked off.

The main motive for me to buy that would be the two hard-pressed vinyls. The sound-quality is crystal clear and they're so fancy. <3

True true.
None of their albums have been rubbish though, so I have faith.
The Golden Pass and signed boxset sounds tempting too - but the chances of the pass are quite unlikely...

and I would find it awkward to eat a meal with them

Hi! i'm from mexico, i've already bought the disc, but i wonder if the page shows you errors? my confirmation page, shows that my order date is 1st jan 1970, the name, adress, and charge spaces are in blank, the only thing that's seems to be fine it's the order number, but i don't know where i can check the status of the disc. i'm wondering if this just happen to me, of it's a general error of the page.

I got the email, started flailing uncontrollably and asked Max if I should get the boxset thing. Max said that as long as I think it has enough stuff -he'll have a look of what it includes when he gets back from the loo. By that time I had already bought it... :$ I am such a fangirl.

And I want the golden ticket. They're so nice. And the new drummer looks hawt.

I don't like the first single so much, I'm rather disapointed.
It's very meds-like but on top it's chaotic and weird, I like the "outbursts" somewhere in the middle and more towards the end though...
myea I hope the rest of the cd will be better, or that I get used to it...

Dave I agree with you that it would be weird to have dinner with them... I hate it when I hear people eat of I fear they can hear me chew or something... that's not something for my "hero's" to hear :p:LOL:

A bit overlong but otherwise not bad and nowhere near as terrible as most of Meds was.

I'm kinda of intrigued of the tracklisting now and seeing where the title track fits. If it opens the album I think it could be a poor choice.

Static Shadows
18-03-2009, 02:22 PM
My reaction:

- Good distorted guitar... bit repetitive

- Random Jazz drum sticks.

- Sadly Brian seems to have developed a stutter...

- Less than a minute in and i'm getting bored.

- Oh, nice if badly produced explosion!

- Hmmm that stutter's getting worse. And more irritating...

- If he says "I" once more I will feel like punching him.

- Dream Brother bit with piano is awesome!

- Getting better now!

- Stop saying Gun... and You... this repeating of words is infuriating... Not bloody "I" again!:mad::mad:

- Good, the awesome chorus is back!

- Shit ending. :erm:

OVERALL = Shit and brilliant in about equal measure.

I still find that song so frustrating. The chorus is absolutely fantastic and gives me hope for the new album, but the verses are incredibly boring, repetitive, and irritating. 'For What It's Worth' is pretty much the same too! The music and the chorus are brilliant and are a true return to form, but the first half of it also features some of Brian's worst ever lyrics and a mostly uninspired and awkward verse vocal melody, which just jars unpleasantly against the rest of the song.

But by banning cameras and so forth they are looking like idiots really. Unless there is a valid reason I think telling your audience to ban cameras is bit out of order really. I don't see what taking pictures on my point and shoot camera is going to do to piss off the band when they play onstage.

Never before have I sincerely been able to use the word "perfect."

Saw them in Bournemouth, first time going out of London for anyone, stayed in a hotel and was worth it. Then last minute saw them again in London! Was standing for Bournemouth and on the first level right by the stage for London. Best of both. Perfect both times.

They own the stage. Everything else disappears. Met them afterwards as well.
Simply a perfect couple of nights.

New songs all sound incredible, and Special K had a MASSIVE response at London! :D

Also declared a camera amnesty at London. Was hilarious seeing loads of people whip their smuggled cams out xD

It's fair enough though, their promoting their new album and would be a shame if it didnt get the sales it deserves. They're sure to allow them at festivals and following tour dates :)

Max
13-05-2009, 08:07 PM
It's still really pissy of them to do that though. In my opinion, in an age where the popularity of things like YouTube, you have to face facts that this will happen.

I don't care if that sounds harsh but when other bands are so relaxed about this kind of thing, it makes Placebo come across really badly.

Oh yeah, I posted my thoughts on the gig on Musical Chairs - wouldn't have much to add to that really.

psyence53
14-05-2009, 09:34 PM
Not at all. I can see your point of view. I was really disappointed, because intimate gigs would be perfect chance to capture them. I hate when cameras aren't allowed because people who pay a lot to see a band do so because they love them, and it's quite unfair to deny them that.

I was extremely pissed of when Dir en grey didnt permit cameras. But hey.
I can see both sides, so I'm not too fussed for a change :3

Placebo have announced details of a new UK tour.

The band, who release new album 'Battle For The Sun' on June 8, are set to play a series of arena gigs across the UK - including a date at London's O2 Arena on December 9.

Tickets go on sale on Friday (May 29) at 9am (BST).

Placebo will play:

Birmingham LG Arena (December 8)
London O2 Arena (9)
Bridlington Spa (11)
Manchester Central (12)
Glasgow SECC (14)

FFS. That's NOT a UK tour as it misses out Wales, northern and southern Ireland as well as all of southern England bar London.

I'm so happy it lived up to what I dreamed it would be. Even the weaker songs are awesome and catchy. Bright lights, breath underwater, they aren't as good as the the others but they have something that makes you want to listen. Come undown and devil in the details blew me away I wasn't expecting them to be that good. Also speaking in tounges wasn't what I thought it would be but I love the catchy edge.

Meh none of my friends like them and I can't bring myself to go on my own to a gig just yet, MEH. :$

Going to gigs with people is overrated anyways. More fun to just get loose on your own without the conscience of wandering where your friend is, etc... but I know on the placebo worldwide forums theres a bit for gig buddies...?

Was afraid that Battle of the Sun and For What's Its Worth would be the top songs. All seem ok this far, but just ok...

except The Never-ending Why. That is an awesome tune.

That's a good word to describe it. The album seems to have "massive" songs, Speak In Tongues is brilliant, although the album is a bit same-y, but this is just on first impression.

Yeah definitely.
I felt the album dipped in the middle a little, but that was just my first listen. I only have 3 more playbacks though because the first one screwed up on me :(

Ah I went to make a coffee towards the end of Battle For the Sun, so I was late getting to For What Its Worth

Just listened to it, and I have to say that it's better than I expected. The second half is quite good.
I really liked The Never-Ending Why, Julien and Breathe Underwater :yesey:
