Res evil one scared the crap out of me (seriously). Especially the frog-men when you get back to the mansion from the guard house. I think it was due to res evil that I have never bought a mansion :p

The nemesis in res evil 3 also scared the shit out of me. He would just appear out of no where and start walking towards you.

I tried playng the res evil one re-make for the cube but it didn't have the same impact.

I haven't played any of the silent hill games. I am ashamed to admit it but I am too scared :eek:

Apart from the dodgy Game Cube controller it's pretty amazing, especially the graphics.. and the fact you have to burn the zombies after you kill them otherwise they come back (and this time they can run)...

I dunno, it just seemed a bit...stupid. It wasnt difficult, the puzzles were shit (but then again, they've always been) and it didnt really have a hook. It just seemed like Clare was a bit lost. It did pick up when Chris arrived, but it seemed a bit slow.

Well Resident evil has always been more like comic book action, if you see what I mean, Silent Hill is far darker...which is cool...but the games are just wandering in the dark, which gets old. :(

I was a bit disappointed by erternal darkness I was expecting more....the same with that game shadowman, it was supposed to be all crazy serial killer stuff..but I thought it was pants :(

I love the Resident Evil Series. My favourite is RE: Code Veronica X for the PS2. Claire Redfield is a lot tougher in this after what she ended up in RE2 with Leon. The graphics are brilliant and I'm happy with the gameplay. :) One of my fav scenes is when Claire bumps into Albert Wesker when he gives Claire a bit of a kicking in (evil prick). I don't think that scene was in the DreamCast version :confused: I don't own a DC.

My favourite for the PS1 is RE2. When I got to the second scenario for the first time I absolutly shitted myself when I first encountered the Tyrant. It was in the room where the crows normally smash through the windows and there's a corner that you can't see what's round there. The tyrants footsteps got louder, the music was well freaking me out and the atmosphere didn't help :eek: As soon as I saw the tyrant come round the blind corner I crapped myself and switched off my console :$ (I was 14 at the time, that's what you get for playing it when you're not 15). A week later I played it again and I fought that time :D I saw it again in that room with the candle puzzle where you have to collect this wheel, I quickly got the wheel and charged out the room. I got out the room, ran round a couple of corners and the tyrant just comes crashing through the wall right in front of me and yes I got scared shitless again :rolleyes: But I completed it in the end though. :p

I'm looking forward to Resident Evil Outbreak.

The AI is so intelligent, and all the things you can do are just amazing.
It is really tempting, but I know I'd just end up getting fed up of having things jumping out and making me feel like I'm having a heart attack.

The dog scene in RE was brilliant, made everyone I know leap like a frog with something wedged in it's backside the first time... my favourite was RE2. Although, I know I'd never want to work in that police station - fuck getting 35 different keys just to see my supervisor.

It has some weird sorta over the shoulder camera, and you can manually point your gun where you want.
Can make you do some nifty shots.

Though by the looks of it, the camera angle changes later on. :indiff:

quite sad that I picked up RE2 a little while ago after about 3 years and can still complete it in under 2 hours using about 5 green weeds.

2 is by far my favourite but I'd have to agree 1 was the hardest one i've played.

I'm a huge Resident Evil fan like I mentioned earlier in this thread but I don't have RE 0, RE Outbreak and RE4. I just haven't had the time. I'm going to buy one of them next week but don't which one to get first. I've seen the reviews and demos for them and look very good and scary. :unsure:

I baught this game last week-end and its absolutley fantastic! Its truely the best game I have ever played on. The gameplay is great as the playability in the previous res evils was poor with the aim thing. Res evil 4, you are able to use a lasers and scopes on most weapons which gives you the chance to purposley blow the head right off the enemys body! The weapons really do their job! Some weapons featured: 2x magnums, 3x different 9mm pistols, machine gun, rocket launcher, grenades (flash, incedenary, hand), 3x different shotguns, mine gun (shoots mines onto enemy), and loads more! All these weapons can be purchased from a merchant you come across in the game that trades quality goods. You can also purchase weapon upgrades to make you weapons more powerful and accurate.

When fighting all the different bosses, yu are able to dodge the charges and high damage hits by quickly pressing warning buttons to save health and make the battle more exciting!

Don't think the presedents daughter will piss you off throught the game cuz she gets captured many times which gives tou the advantage to chill out and have fun.

The gameplay at the start in the village with the pshyco's is awsome because you can do all sorts with the villagers! like, kick them to the floor, make them climb ladders and then push them off, but watch out! they are smarter than zombies!!!

There is too much to explain!!!

I´ve got RE4 for PS2. As you might know the plot takes places in a spanish village. As a consequence the villagers speak spanish (at leat in my videogame bought in Spain). So I wonder if the ones that didn´t buy the game in Spain listen how the villagers speak spanish or for the contrary their voices are ¿dubbed? ( i don´t know if that´s the exact word for it, sorry if it´s bad english). If it´s not it would be a pity for you not understanding all the insults :LOL:

The Villagers speak Spanish and sometimes a bit of English.
I read a few of the Spanish lines in English on an Resident Evil Forum and they're not nice at all. :eek:

Curse words are tough to translate. These are the words and their
translation according to how they are used in the game:

* “Coño” means lady privates, but if you want it to be translated according to
the way it is used, then you can say it means “damn”.

* “Madre” means mother, but it’s used the same way as “damn”.

* “Mierda” means poo, the S word to be more exact.

* “Cabrón” means buck or he-goat, but it’s used as an insult. You could say
it is as bad as saying “bastard” or “fucker”, but it doesn’t mean the same
thing.

* “Hijo de puta” means “son of a bitch”.

* “Joder” means “to fuck”.

* “Carajo” is slang that comes from “cara de ajo” which literally means
“garlic face”, but it is used as an interjection of frustration or
annoyance.

* And “Imbécil” means “imbecile”.

Those are all the different curse words I heard them use. But keep
in mind that these insults are slang, so the severity of each insult varies
from region to region; Also remember that some of them can be translated
differently depending on the context they are used in.

Resident Evil Wii is finally confirmed. It’s called Umbrella Chronicles and it’s a game that ties up all loose ends throughout the series.
Similar to Outbreak, it’s split up in different chapters; you will be able to play as the main Resident Evil protagonists from the main series[From RE Veronica to RE4, prologue to RE5], as well as unlock additional characters.
Gameplay will be in 3rd person similar to RE4, but additionally the game takes advantage of the controller’s core features. -Puzzles and shooting will have a new twist to it.

New details are to be shown at TGS.

Also, previous rumors was made official.

Four chapters will be available, each chapter will have 2 playable characters
Chapter 1 - BH1 Mansion - Jill and Chris
Chapter 2 - BH2 RPD - Claire and Leon
Chapter 3 - BH3 Racoon City - Jill and Carlos
Chapter 4 - BH4 Village - Leon and Ada

Additional characters can be unlocked by playing the game, such as Rebecca Chambers, Hunk and Albert Wesker

The gameplay will be similar to BH4, use the Wiimote to trigger the over-the-shoulder view, use the nunchuk to fire

All characters will have different weapons and melee attacks like in BH4, you can find additional weapons in the stage

Each character can only carry 2 weapons, such as Chris’ pistol and shotgun, and Jill’s pistol and grenade launcher

The main game Scenario Mode will have in-game cutscenes, each chapter will have new contents which link to Umbrella’s status

There is an Arcade Mode which plays like the BH4 Mercenaries mini game

I've always disliked Resident Evil alot. I don't like japanese style of making characters etc, it has a fixated camera that makes everything so damn frustrating even not mentioning the crappy controls.

i think, the fixated camera made part of the re series, and had a big influence on the athmosphere, there's nothing scarier than to hear, that there's something around the corner but u can't see it ... and imo, she created kind of "movie-shots" f.ex. with burning candles in the foreground and so on....

the new re 4 has another concept of the camera, it's more like other "normal" action-adventures, you should play it, it's really one of the best games (most of all for the gameplay) ever made!!!

Yes, IMHO I think Eternal Darkness is a better game than resi. not quite as nice looking, but its intersing to play, some cool twists and ideas, deffiently worth checking out.

there's nothing, compared to play re 1 in good old '96, sure the "horror moviesque" - atmosphere and structure changed a little bit. but zero and most of all re 4 made a lot of fun!!!! also when there aren't anymore so many files and traditional stuff like puzzles etc. (which makes me sad)

I think it was 'cause I got an illegal cope of Nemesis when I was like 9 years old - much too young. hmmm...interesting, maybe you should overcome your inhibitions and play it another time! actually, i like it, when i get scared in games or movies. i know it's horror or survival action and i know that i will jump ot of my skin and so i'm "enjoying" it in a way. and than it remains always a game.....

I only liked the first 3 and enjoyed Survivor for a little while back in 2000, then there was Code Veronica which was pretty lacklustre and Dead Aim which was so insultingly bad I was glad I only rented it. However Dead Rising was really, really good though and looks like a promising franchise for Capcom even if it is an Xbox 360 only game, wouldn't shock me if the next one was shared with PS3 as well.

Only in Japan and on the 360 at the moment. Seriously, I've been playing online co-op solid for the past 5 days, it's that much fun. BUT MS have, from today, blocked anyone from outside Japan from playing it online :'(.

There's a PS3 demo coming out in Japan as well, but you can only get it by buying a new PS3 as it comes bundled on a disc :LOL: Probably be available for download over there eventually I guess.

We'll get a demo within a month I reckon, it's fully in English anyway.

ive played RE4 plently of times on the ps2 and ps3 has the same controller. i mean the controls are pretty much the same and movement as RE4 its just the position of everything on the 360 pad doesnt feel right.

Oh ok then. There are 4 different control schemes though, scheme A is classic RE4 controls I believe. You should also change aiming speed from default to fastest.

I took a while to get used to the controls on my first try but i like them now (on 360).

The new storage menu took a while to get used to but i prefer that to Resi 4's suitcase. I'm guessing they kinda took the menu-open-but-the-game-is-still-playing idea from Dead Space.

Oh yeah, i hear Dead Rising 2 has been announced for PS3 and 360 and it's released this year. Thought i'd mention it here because it's got zombies in it and it's made Capcom :p

Gamepro Germany got the exclusive review supposedly and have played through the full game, but no one is allowed to show videos from anything passed the first half of the game. OXM and OPM have both given scores at least and mentioned the framerate, but it's not game breaking or anything. Just a few hiccups when a lot is going on.

They're announcing a new RE game on the 12th supposedly, and they've said recently that Wii owners who are RE fans will have something to look forward to. I'm kind of hoping for an RE2 remake in the style of the RE1 remake. Still my favourite in the series.

Well it's obviously not the same as having a human to play with. It's kind of difficult to recommend this game to someone who has no intention of playing co-op with someone else as I think that's where most of the replayability will come from.

Just played from the beginning with my mate for about 4 and a half hours and its bloody brilliant, i am so glad they added the co-op, don't get me wrong, resident evil is a great game by yourself but its a brilliant team game too!

Got to the end of 3-2 I think, i love the upgrading guns features, one of you can have a beefed up shotgun and the other a rifle, lots of possibilities,

I bought the Red Ltd. Edition Elite console on launch night which I think is brilliant, its to replace my old 360 thats almost out of warranty and has only got 20GB. It seems a bit quiter and i hope the rumors on the RROD are true, I got stung at Xmas by my old 360,

Anyway, I'm loving the game more than I thought I would so I highly recommend!

Its obviously made with co-op in mind. All the little changes from RE4 have mulyiplayer in mind, and it is one of the best multiplayer games ever made.

But as a single player its not as good. Still excellent, but not a classic by any means.

I'm stuck on RE5. :rolleyes: I'm fighting Wesker in the lava bit and I'm at the checkpoint just after you push the rock into the lava to get Sheva across. The bastard wont die, I fired all my ammo at him and he killed me 8 times. I just armed myself with my grenade launcher and a load of grenades and that doesn't seem to be enough. :stunned: I have missed him a few times and have hit him a few times when he wasn't revealing the red thing on his chest.
At that checkpoint of the game, how much ammo do you need to finish him off? Also, what's the quickest way to get him to reveal the red thing on his chest?

Anyway, for those who have completed it. How long did it take you?

That last boss is stupid, it's not about pumping endless ammo in him, unless you have the infinite rocket launcher.

When you're on the middle island, don't run to the rock right away, go up to the top and wait for Wesker to follow you. When he's up there, shoot for his heart, and circle around and do the same at his back, eventually he'll leap away and go after Sheva. Now you push the rock to let her join you in the middle.

When you're both up there, one of you go in front of Wesker, the other behind and shoot his heart again. It'll open up after a while, when it does, run up to his back and Chris will grab him. The end.

I love RE5, the graphics are stunning and I love how action packed it is. OK, there's less of the horror element in this instalment that old schoolers like me enjoy but I'm not fussed. It's my fav game for the PS3 and it's one of my favs in the series.

Had a go of that download content and it's surprising awesome! felt like a proper old Resident Evil with a mansion and exploring for passwords etc.
Also you get to play as BARRRY BURRRTOOONNN in mercenaries!!!
