i really like feeder, so they isn't an album i don't like. but i have to say, polythene does remind of a rip off of nirvana and smashing pumpkins songs. grant nicholas did say he likes these two bands, so i'm not surprise thats where his influences come from. i really like to see them, but i probably can't go.

I was there! fecking amazing gig, damn sweet! and the 2 new songs were fantastic, my 3rd best gig of all time! (1st - muse at wembley 2nd - suppergrass at reading uni). They were rockin!

han_the_badger
08-05-2004, 02:03 PM
I was also there. Feeder are one of my top bands (after muse obv). That was the best i've seen them out of 3 1/2 times (saw a bit of them at v fest last year). My fave album is Yesterday Went Too Soon cos its a happy album. Hate it when people say they are a rip off of radiohead tho. Clearly completely different. Stupid people.

What were the new songs like??

Saw them last weekend at Hammersmith - what a gig!

Me and my brother went down on the train from Newcastle, and although the return journey was 4 hours longer than it was meant to be, it was a good weekend.

We took a disposable camera to take some mosh-pit shots during the gig - some great photos were taken.

The best bit for my brother was Grant taking the camera off him in the second half of the gig and taking a photo of my brother and the crowd around him. He then went up and gave him his plectrum personally.

That first support act though - how amusing! They were bottled while performing and took it really badly - "we're just trying to make a living here, please have some respect"

3 minutes later, out comes their tour crew and chucks water over the crowd. Out pops some brilliant sarcastic humour as a yound lady opens an umbrella in the middle of the crowd - fantastic.

As for Feeder, they played mostly old favourites but were on pretty good form. Their show at Northumbria Uni last year was perhaps better, but this came pretty close. The new songs seem very similar to Comfort in Sound - I'm guessing they're going to stay with the fairly mellow sound.

Stuey
11-05-2004, 05:31 PM
I saw him take that camera and do the picture! isn't grant just lovely! I was standing next to the girl with the umbrella, confused the hell out of me at first! Blade just didn't belong there, they were random hip hop and no matter what they said about them getting a start they can feck off as it was a rock/indie gig and they weren't welcome!

The new songs were called Bitter glass and victoria and they went along the same lines as comfort in sound style with possibly a bit more rock in it, and Bitter glass seemed a bit of a emotional beastie!

han_the_badger
13-05-2004, 12:16 PM
i thought the new songs were really good. They seemed a bit more rocky than CIS but on a similar vein. Although all of their songs are more rocky live. It was a genius gig tho.

I thought the new tracks were no more or less rocky than CIS era stuff.

They always sound heavier live, it's just the way it is. They weren't bad songs by any means though.

han_the_badger
14-05-2004, 10:57 AM
I think your probably right. Actually on their website grant said there's gonna be pianos and strings in a load of the songs so possibly its actually less rocky. Who knows?

han_the_badger
14-05-2004, 11:26 AM
Hmm. Was just reading the carling review of the gig. The woman who wrote it kept going on about hao feeder were a skate punk band and that they were a welsh blink 182. Take it she hasn't actually listened to them ever. Bloody incompetent reporters

Stuey
14-05-2004, 11:36 AM
stupid lady, how the hell can she come up with such inacurate claims? I assume she's not heard either band. She's probably actually an evil troll demon monster who lurks in a cave in south yorkshire.

My description of her is almost certainly more accurate then her description of feeder so she can't complain.

damn you man! everything before echo park is the best stuff and the most exciting live stuff. I'd put all the albums before echo park ahead of echo park. Is anyone going to see them on their tour in the new year?

Yep, catching them for the third time at Brixton. I saw em at Wembley on the CiS tour, and at Hammersmith as part of the Carling Live 24 thing. I love Echo Park and CiS, but have only sort of listened to the others. I love Yesterday Went too Soon though, just need to properly listen to Swim and Polythene.
I'm getting Picture of Perfect Youth, the b-sides album this Christmas, and will be getting Pushing the Senses as soon as its released. I'm not too keen on Tumble and Fall, its good, but not their greatest. Favourite track is without a doubt Just a Day.

But seriously, GET THIS SINGLE!!!

Tumble and Fall, in all good record stores now, and only £2.99

|Cypher|
17-01-2005, 05:32 PM
Or the vinyl for 99p. ;)

I really do like Shatter (B-Side). Have really been enjoying this.

Grant was saying earlier that he orignally wasn't going to put this on the album, but when they played it to people it got a positive reaction.

I'm not suprised, good song but it's not their best tbh.

You can gett all 3 formatts from HMV for £5. You need to follow the link from the feeder site.

I wouldn't say it's pop. It's very melodic, musiccally very simple. The lyrics show some of grants matrurity that comes with his songwriting these days.

We tumble and fall, together we crawl
Forever we'll be, tumble and fall

Life's not the same, since that day you went away
I recall like the drops of summer rain that fell on me
Come back to me, come back to me.

But it's certainly not their best record. They've done better.

For me it's not a case of liking the old or new stuff. All the albums are good.

I'll listen to favourites right from the early stuff like World Asleep, Stereo World through to Yesterday Went To Soon, Picture of Perfect Youth, Seven Days In The Sun.

Right through to the recent stuff, Just The Way I'm Feeling, Forget About Tommorow, Moonshine.

Even some of the B-Sides are quality, Getting To Know You Well, 21st Century Meltdown, Can't Stand Loosing You, Power Of Love.

The band is simply quality. :)

I wasn't sure what to make of the new album at first. Every single song could be interpreted as refering to john.

"Lifes not the same, since that day you went away...."

But even if it is refering to john, the album is much more of a uplifiting, positivie feel. I really do think it is better than CIS. It moves on from those days. :)

Standout tracks for me atm, Feeling A Moment, Pushing The Senses, Frequency, Dove Grey Sands.

Best Feeder songs... easy.

"Just A Day" and "Feeling A Moment"

Well I think these are the best songs from Echo Park and Pushing The Senses so kinda has to be the best songs Feeder have done (So I believe anyway). I can't say I purchased or heard many songs off the Comfort In The Sound album as that was released coming the end of me finishing secondary school, so hearing that album then, I would have surely killed myself. People say it's very, very dark stuff from Feeder, so I really couldn't have listened to it. But then you think that was the album that reflected how Grant and Taka felt about Jon passing on... I surely couldn't have dealt with it. But THAT EXACT album came feeling, feeling that moved Feeder from the "middle-upper happy-happy-joy-joy-club" to "Just the way I'm feelin'. yeah-yeah" kinda band, and in a way, the place they are today... touring with U2 being one of those places :p

Feeder are my joint fv band with Muse. They got me into music. Didn't see them on this tour however (seen them twice before). I am going to Download just to see them, 4 hours of traveling..just to see one band. Nevermind...look what they are going to play:

Strereo World
Sweet 16
Descend
Crash
My Perfect Day

Yep, old setilst coming up :D :D :D

Can't wait. Saw them this year at Islington Acadamy when they previewed PTS album. That was damn cool, competition winners only.

So, yes, in gereral, I like Feeder :P Old or new, older preferably but either will do.

Hammersmith last year rocked also.

This really sucks for me because I am seeing them on Monday...

URGENT NEWS FLASH!
The Band are deeply sorry and really disappointed that they had to pull tonight's show in Brighton due to Grants vocal chords collapsing after 5 songs.
The atmosphere was electric and we are extremely grateful for the patience and understanding shown by the audience.
This show will be rescheduled and ticket buyers will be advised of the new date when it is confirmed.
With regards to the forthcoming Birmingham show on Sunday and the two London shows early next week we are, at this stage not sure as to whether Grant will be in a fit state to perform. Please check this site for information tomorrow afternoon – Saturday 3rd December.

Pain in the arse but if it's rescheduled I don't have a problem. I have Doves on Wednesday anyway so I'm covered.

If you get a chance, listen to feeder's latest album, Pushing The Senses, 'cos its really beautiful and one of their best albums. They are a great band and deserve more credit than they get! A lot of their earlier stuff was rock but now they are kinda soft-rock. Some people compared have them to be kinda like coldplay, but i think they're quite different.

What a show! Well worth the wait - absolutely immense! The setlist:

Feeling A Moment
Shatter
Come Back Around
We Can't Rewind
Just The Way I'm Feeling
Buck Rogers
Comfort In Sound
Pushing The Senses
Bitter Glass
Pilgrim Soul
Tumble And Fall
Lost And Found
Insomnia
Waiting For Changes
Descend
High
SEVEN DAYS IN THE SUN!!!
Just A Day

Highlights:
-Took two attempts to get Tumble And Fall going - something was wrong with Grant's guitar
-Taka was like a man possessed tonight
-I swear Mark's hair is getting longer and longer
-Visuals were decent
-The crowd seating (where I was) was 75% standing. When that happens you know the gig is good.

I'm off to bed now!

I'm relatively happy with 18 songs. I would have been satisfied with that (as I was with Muse as well).

Lost & Found is the absolute sex live.

I heard last night they only played 16 songs, so they really are trying to be careful with Grant's voice.

Green Mamba
23-03-2006, 03:13 PM
That's understandable. In anycase I'm sure I will enjoy it, they are allways fantastic live I imo their sound suits a small arena best.

I've managed to get some standing tickets a few weeks ago, Gigs and Tours leep releasing some as batches every so often, there were some available last night.

Right now it sayd "pay on the door", what does this mean apart from the obvious? That all the spare tickets are first come first serve tickets at the NEC Arena box office? If a friend of mine came along with us who allready going would he be guaranteed to be able to pay on the door and stand?

I used to love Feeder, but have found so much of their most recent stuff painfully dull (coldplay-ish!). I am so, so glad their new album is properly back to their rockier stuff! Listening to it yet again and liking it more each time.

I think it's nice that they have found their rocking side again without having to grasp back to older tricks although the first single has a bit of a Just A Day feel to it and new single Tracing Lines sounds a bit like Roadrunner by Jonathan Richman (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=QHv8Rok9UfA)

Ha they actually started early so we saw like two of their songs  They weren't THAT bad but yeah... Feeder were good  The venue was a bit shit but I'm glad we moved and got a better view I was able to enjoy myself then and missed my Feeder listening days cause I used to be quite a fan of them <3

My biggest gripe was that the stage was so low and the sound was a bit muffled as well.
Normally when you're near the mixing desk you get the best sound in the room but I hope for the kids in front this wasn't the case this time. Other than that it was a top show of a top band. Too bad the first couple of songs went right past me because I was looking for somewhere better to stand.

We Are The People
Feeling A Moment
Shatter
Come Back Around
Who's The Enemy?
We Can't Rewind
Insomnia
Fires
Pushing The Sense
Sonorous
Just The Way I'm Feeling
Tracing Lines (favourite moment of the gig)
Buck Rogers
Comfort In Sound
Tumble And Fall
Lost And Found

Encore:

Silent Cry
Seven Days In The Sun
Just A Day

I didn't recognise We Can't Rewind at first but they really only played songs I knew so it was really good

I like Feeder although admittedly their best song is a B-Side (Just A Day). Just the Way I'm Feeling is good too. Anything with Just seems to be. Old Feeder is the best though. High and all that.

I saw them a week ago at a local venue. Fricken amazing. Loved them.

Much better than I was hoping for, although there were a few songs I didn't recognize (and I have all their albums)... maybe they were B-Sides or I haven't listened to them enough... ah well... Still flipping amazing. I was quite near to the front, so I could see them well (except for some of the tall uni students in front of me blocking the view - and I thought I was at least reasonably tall!!!)

They started pretty early with us so if you aren't arsed with getting to the front don't worry! We were there for like two songs

Nah, I usually stand to the right hand side at the Academy, near enough to get pictures without getting moshed on.

Looks like Feeder will be my last gig of this year. I nearly always have a gig around Christmas but failed this year. :(

You may. I shall prossibly be looking adoringly at Grant Nicholas.

You're probably going to tell me that he helped Grohl kill Cobain now. :(

They're heading into the studio after their current tour ends to record a 7th album. Awsome news as even though Silent Cry was a complete comercial flop, it was still a great album and even if the new album reverts back to the CiS and PtS sound, if we get anything as good as that i'll be chuffed. :D

Saw Feeder last night in Belfast, really great! The setlist had a good mixture of old (Buck Rogers, Insomnia) and new songs (We are the People, Whos the Enemy and Muse like one Sonorous) along with a few extras - Nirvana Breed cover and getting the crowd to sing Foos All My Life. Always think are they totally underrated compared to some of the rubbish about in music today!

Anyone else seen them on their tour recently?

Raiko

I saw them at Leeds fest a while back, they got the crowd singing the Foo's then as well... :erm:

Was really good though. First time i've ever seen them live and they were probably the best sounding band of the weekend. Live performances on TV just don't do them any justice! As for a lot of bands actually...

I enjoyed them greatly at Brixton Academy. Taka apparently fell over during Buck Rogers, but I missed that.

Fightstar though... :noey:

Feeder have been really unlucky... I started talking to my girlfriend about Buck Rogers and about how it was one of their most popular songs, but one of their least meaningful, and then I remembered that Just A Day was a B-Side, their drummer died, the singer damaged his vocal cords and a couple of months ago, their tour bus caught fire.

Bless them T_T

They've had such a miserable career.

Got another set from them: The Singles, with one CD of 20 songs and a set of 26 videos. Haven't looked at the videos yet, but the songs are great!

That's a good release to own. It has no Stereoworld or Descend though. That's a shame.
