I prefer GL to NSC anyday. Prague is definitely the worst song muse have done but it's a cover so I'm not including that.
I'll stay with NSC because it's the only song that really makes me cringe by Muse even though it does have the typical elements of muse that are good. The song would be so much better with different lyrics

See, I absolutely love the solo. Not exactly sure why. A lot of times, I listen to the first couple lines of the song, skip to the solo, and then skip the rest of the song.

Showbiz the album has lots of mediocre songs I wouldn't play to someone who has never heard of Muse before because they'd just think Muse suck. I wouldn't say I personally hate them but you can tell Muse have evolved into a much better band now. So if there is a worse album I could easily get rid of have the songs on Showbiz and not miss them. Where as all their other albums feel pretty complete and great. Though Resistance funny enough is the worst album to hear when you see Muse live because they all feel a little flat live.

Edit: Neutron Star Collision is the only song that I feel embarrassed about playing because the lyrics are so cheesy. Though I like the song, I could do without the love is forever crap lol. This song I feel is Matt's best vocally, just please change the lyrics! lol.

Have seen MoTP live many times, but they were not that horrible as you described, although I wonder why the version on HAARP CD does sound so flat and weak. I mean, they could do better mastering.

I can't say which one I think the worst, GL or NSC. They are bad in different ways. The first time I heard GL, I was taken aback because that was the least type of songs I had expected from the band, and it didn't appeal to me at all. Then the first time I heard NSC, I just laughed. Found it entertaining, though.

I agree completely with the last paragraph. and you're correct about the resistance, too. The thing about TR is that it doesn't sound that great live, and that it doesn't show off the guitars or how great of a singer Matt is. I didn't like the album as much, but it was still a good album.

Although NSC is a strong contender for me for the worst muse song, I don't think it's quite as bad as it is made out to be. Musically, the piano intro, first chorus and piano outro are quite good. Just the shitty second verse and solo which sound cheap and half arsed that ruin it for me. And then there's the lyrics (although I just put that down to the fact it was written mainly for twilight).

Other songs I don't think are great are Falling Down and Soldier's Poem

This is why I say that no matter how you look at it, this song is not their worst. Not even close.

A lot of people tend to pick out the strange, out of the box sounding song on the album (for OoS it would be Screenager/Megalomania, Abso it would be Endlessly, BHaR it would be SP, and The Resistance it would be Undisclosed) and because it's unique and different from the rest of the songs, they call it 'bad', but in reality, theyre actually quite good because of that reason.
i mean, sure, OoS was all about the Bliss/CE style heavy riffs and distorted bass and all, and The Resistance was all hard rebellious anthems and stadium choruses, but you know, the odd one out on the album really makes or breaks it.

EDIT: I should say that I Belong To You is their worst song (apart from "the obvious two") though not counting Mon Coeur Sovre A Ta Voix (not Muse, but still good). The only good thing about IBTY is the fact that it mentions my name!!! But apart from that, it's horse shit.

Erm, when I first listened to the album, the song stood out to me as the least favourite song, although the song itself isn't that bad. I think it depends on how you compare the song, with which standard, as Muse songs or general pop songs. The album got 11 songs and they just wasted one song...that's what came to my mind, when they said they had recorded only the 11 songs, not even one b-side.

I really like 'Unintended', it's sort of my first encounter with MUSE (and I never was keen on rock music - well not that much, it was OK) and this song made me search for other MUSE songs ('New Born', 'Sing for Absolution' and the whole lot). And I sort of developed a soft spot for MUSE and the unique euphony of sounds they create - I can find everything in their music.
Also, the songs that (at the beginning) were just OK, have gradually turned into real dears :D ('Assassin', 'Citizen Erased')
A lot depends on my mood swings. Definitely cannot diss a MUSE song, because each and everyone of them was composed and performed with real ingenuity and extreme attention to detail. :happy:

I wonder, if NSC had no video and no connection with Twilight, would it still be so terrible? While the sound of the track trends towards a more generic rock ballad style, I personally find nothing aesthetically displeasing about it. I find the relentless Twitards that populate every NSC vid to be a bigger irritant than anything that has to do with the song itself. (compare it to IBTY)

It also probably has a lot to do with how much you like the sound of TR in general.

Pink Ego Box, however, is the only song I actually can't listen to. It's funny, because I don't mind the chorus at all...:p

I guess I can see why people wouldn't like it, but it's one of my favourite Muse songs to be honest. I'd say Sober, or in terms of live performance, Futurism, or whatever it used to be called.... Spectrum? :$ The live of that of which I have heard is dire.

I wouldn't say Showbiz is better really. Maybe more raw and individual but the material, barring the title track, Muscle Museum and a couple of others, isn't as strong IMO.

Maybe I'm just biased... I've always liked Showbiz and I think it's my favorite album, but I don't think there's a comparison between The Resistance and Showbiz...for one thing, Showbiz doesn't have a terrible track like TR does. :D

How dare you insult Exogenesis :phu: Part 1 is my favorite.
USoE isn't one of the best or anything, but it's certainly more interesting than Guiding Light. Like I've said before, the first few bars of GL are good, but then the bass comes in and you realize that the entire song is going to be exactly the same.

I don't like United States of Eurasia much either...I don't like the sound or something, plus the lyrics. :stunned: I think some people just don't like symphonies, my favorite of them was Part 2 for some reason, that's my favorite.

Guiding Light is the placid, boring cooldown song that they play before they play something that that the crowd actually likes. ;)

I know, I know. My favorite songs usually aren't that technically difficult to play. But Guiding Light is just... boring. It doesn't change at all, except for the guitar solo.
