Caring is Creepy is an awesome awesome song. Heard it first from the Garden State soundtrack but don't really like their other tracks. They're a bit too...airy...for me?

anyone out here like The Shins? they're on the soundtrack of the movie, garden state? their songs are awesome and the vocals are awesome. i think they kind of song like muse - just the vocals - kind of angelic? i dunno if thats the right word.
"new slang" is their best song i think. i also like "girl inform me" and "caring is creepy".

hell yes!!!
I just saw them live for the first time last night! they are so darn cool it's not funny. i just love their cute (and sometimes dark-ish) lyrics...and they have the most cute! sound going around. Delightful.....
Ive only got a burnt copy ofchutes too narrow, so i am not familiar with the names of the songs (i will invest in a copy soon tho) - i own a copy of Oh, Inverted World - and my fave songs of there would be Know Your Onion!, Weird Divide, Girl Inform Me, Caring Is Creepy....I love it in Know Your Onion - Where it goes:
.....founnd my favourite record, lying in wait at the bermingham mall...the songs that i heard, the occassional book, were the only fun i ever took....
CTN - I think has just taken over the title of my fave shins album....its classy, classy effort from the shins.

Yep, Zach Braff is a huge Shins fan. He wouldn't do a TV appearance here until he found out they were the musical guest. I think it's great that he put two of their songs on the Garden State soundtrack because a lot more people have heard them now.

bumpety bump...
i've loved the shins for a awhile, but i finally saw garden state and must say i love the songs even more now...
new slang is just beautiful. this band is def a must for fans of mercury rev, flaming lips and air. i think they encorporate several of those band's traits, yet sound different. me likey.

Well if you know you like those two songs, then you might be best off getting their first album (Oh, Inverted World) because it has both of them on it. Then, if really like that, you can get Chute's Too Narrow. Both albums are class so I can't really reccommend one over the other.

The Shins is one of my favorite bands ever and their music makes me so happy. In a completely different way than Muse. I honestly think the world would be a very happy place if everyone walked around listening to the Shins. There's just something wonderful about them..
Currently obsessed with Caring is Creepy. But all of the songs are fantastic. Can't wait for new album coming out in January I think it is..

I can't stop listening to Caring Is Creepy.
Ditto, along with Phantom Limb and Turn a Square.
I had bought Wincing the Night Away when it came out originally, because I had heard Phantom Limb on the radio and it temporarily broke my brain, but for some reason I never really listened to their stuff besides that song. Big mistake. Awesome, awesome, AWESOME pop and James Mercer's singing is amazing.
partial thanks to no one in particular for pointing me in their direction, again... ;)

Indeed! I think that's my favourite track too, or maybe Turn on me.
The Shins are one of my favouritist bands even though they only have 3 albums afaik. They're 3 top quality albums though without a duff track to me.
Even if they are a bit beach boys perhaps.
