Rejazz is a great song, as is Ne me Quitte Pas.

Soviet Kitch is possibly one of the greatest albums of 2005.

Err it came out officially in 2004 in the UK.
And unofficially in 2003 (the Strokes tour pressing) 0 when I got it, wahey!

She is indeed awesome though, touching on magical. I can think of very few people who's music is anywhere close to as affective or endearing to me.
She's a lovely lady, with an unbelievable amount of talent and the character and charm to match.

Buy anything you can by her, if you you dont like it you dont deserve ears or a heart.

Hey...If thats what you say i might just have to check her out. Last i read something like that it was my own words and i was trying to convince others about the greatness of another singer.

Ill have to check Specktor out in the near future

when i first read this thread, when it was first written, I decided to download ne me quitte pas thinking it would be a cover of the nina simone song of the same name. But to my surprise I found this amazing, unique, wonderful singer.

I am sooooooooooo jealous of anyone who has seen her live, she would be life changing!

And the videos of her playing Poor Little Rich Boy and playing with the drumstick, piano and singing at the same time amazes me.

regina is playing at the royal festival hall! not only do they NOT search your bags, the photo bit is free for anyone to sneak in! of course, having a dslr camera makes you blend in a bit more :) dunno about regina though, she's quite picky with photographers taking photos of her, i mean its pretty distracting since some of her songs are just her and the piano

I'm trying to recall the set from Brum. There was a song she sang at the start i didn't know, it was just her singing, and then she ended with a Lennon cover, but from what i can remember there was:

Set (not in order):
On The Radio
Apres Moi
Baby Jesus
Fidelity
Summer in the City

Bobbing for Apples - These two together on guitar
That Time

Bartender
Musicbox
Raindrops
Prisoners
Poor Little Rich Boy
Sailor Song
The Flowers
-------------------------------------------
Us
The Ghost of Corporate Future
Field Below (she forgot the words lol :p)
Lennon Cover

he did manage to get away with it and all, only because i wasn't bothered in chasing him. i folded it and shoved it in my back pocket and he just took it off me when i was looking at my photos and sorting my bag out. i would have destroyed him if it was a proper setlist haha

New album coming out:

http://pitchfork.com/news/34833-regina-spektor-reveals-new-album-ifari/

"Based on an advance listen to some of the tracks from her follow-up, Far (due in June via Sire), we can happily report that success hasn't spoiled Spektor's oddball charisma."

Love her to death. New album is all sorts of brilliant. UK users can listen to it free here (http://reginafar.co.uk/timesalbumstream/). Very different from her old style but her music is just as captivating. The Calculation, Blue Lips, Folding Chair and Dance Anthem of the 80's are my favorites so far. But all are great. :)

'Genius Next Door' is SUCH a beautiful song. I'm addicted to this album. Also, Regina performed at the Beacon Theatre in NYC on Monday and you can download the gig here (http://reginaspektor.org/download-page?task=viewcategory&catid=115). Brilliant gig, Après Moi and Fidelity were the best I've ever heard live. And her little mess up during Consequence of Sounds was cute :p

Did not know she has a new album out. Have to check it out.

I find her to be best possible lazy Sunday morning music, you know, playing in the background when you're making your first cup of coffee of the day and reading the Sunday newspaper... (well okay, when you're trying to get over your hangover and eating the last slices of yesterday's pizza).

I do, I do, I do-ooooo. Can't believe the mixed reviews it's been getting, completely split down the middle, some really rate it and some have given it as low as 4.8/10. :stunned:

It's great, without being biased. If it wasn't I'd say so. ;) Love all the videos on the DVD too. An extra £6 is still a bit much though, and the packaging is a nightmare.

I think that if the lyrics weren't so good, I may not have been digging it as much. A lot of the music feels a bit too familiar in my opinion, apart from Machine, which is my favourite song in a musicality sense. Some of her lyrics are some of the best that she has ever written.
