The didnt watch the film when I was younger either....it is kinda wierd.
It`s also wierd that nothing happens in it ...they go through...hang about ...kill Ra ...go home
Does Daniel Jackson stay with his bird ...and in the Sg1 pilot they conveniently find him again?
my mum is a sci fi buff and she forced me to go to that movie argh horrible.. yes and i allways wondered why that dude with the glasses is in the show without his woman. maybe she died. didnt he die in the show?

T4 is just something on a Channel 4 here, which is what they show Stargate on.
They use muse songs on all sorts of adverts ...it`s annoying

they play farscape late and on a cable channel and they keep canceling it. its one of my favourite american shows i get so frustrated why cant people watch good shows and keep them on air. and yeah its made here! ha all the actors from farscape show up in all these local shows its funny to see them without their makeup
Daniels wife was captured by Apophis and her body was iunfested by a parasite who used her body as a host.

I think they found him again in the pilot for the show, and he either left his woman...or she was killed ..and thats why he joined Sg1 for revenge....but erm..now it`s into season whatever....she doesnt even get a mention. :p
In the pilot they return as a general to see how he's doing I believe. Then Apophis [the god was Ra's brother in Egyption mythology. Ra was sun/light Apophis was night/dark but I dunno if the gou'lds are related or not] overruns the planet. Daniel's wife Sha'rae is taken as a host for Apophis's wife - Amunette. The only reason Daniel joins SG1 is to find her...and Ska'ra [the little lad that O'Neill befriended in the film] who becomes host to Klorell.
In one episode...Amunette is about to toast Daniel with the hand devices...Teal'C gets there in the nick of time and has no choice but to shoot Sha'rae with his staff weapon. She dies. Daniel takes AGES to forgive Teal'C but Sha'rae keeps coming to Daniel in his dreams, asks him to forgive Teal'C and also tells him about the harseesis child...a child born to two gou'ld hosts and so "illegal" as he contains all their knowledge. Daniel stays with SG1 to find this child. He does but the child is being looked after by an ascended ancient named Oma Desala...Daniel learns that the child is safer with her because it would be just as bad for the humans of earth to keep him as it would be should the gou'lds find him.
There's still far too much for me to type without going on and on. But whoever said there's too many lose ends is wrong. Lose ends are usually tied up in the next season..two seasons later at most. Ska'ra for example was freed of Klorell by the Tok'Ra but died at the end of season six because of Anubis.
...
I know FAR too much...ahem.
the tollans freedska'ra
that was an admirable summary cath
Ah yes it was them who put him on trial...but they then contacted the Tok'Ra who have the technology to remove symbiotes. I remember now :).
Ah yes it was them who put him on trial...but they then contacted the Tok'Ra who have the technology to remove symbiotes. I remember now :).
Ah, so they did, my apoligies
Technically we were both right ;).
Last episode next Tuesday :(.
Poor O'Neill...but I knew it'd be him who would have to look into that Ancient device...again...heh.
He did leg it over there to do it, it would seen they are repeating story lines...
tuesdays looks damned good
is there going to be another series?
He had no choice really as Daniel is needed to translate whatever the person who looked into it is saying. It's a good repeat of a previous storyline :).
This was apparently supposed to be the last season. I think it seems a bit...sudden..given there's so much to cram into one hour next week.

Season 8 Confirmed by Sci-Fi!
The Sci-Fi Channel has confirmed in a press release that they have ordered an eighth season of Stargate SG-1 from MGM. SG-1 becomes the second longest-running science fiction drama on American television - exceeding every Star Trek series and second only to The X-Files.
Got that from the tvtome.com guide they have of Stargate. Cool.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
They can't do THAT and expect me to wait until season 8 like...at LEAST a year away...bastards :(.
That was such an amazing episode!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dont worry, the sci fi channel website say that the new series start in july alongside a spin off series called stargate atlantis, where they search for the lost city :)
That doesn't unfreeze O'Neill and stop Carter from being sexually frustrated :(.
wow season 8 that is very good for a sci fi show

I adore Stargate. One of my fave episodes is from season 4. 'The point of no return' with the character Martin Lloyd in it. It was a very humorous episode and i was delighted when he returned in season 5 in the brilliant episode 'Wormhole X-Treme'.
i find that the ones with the asgard in them are usually interesting
and Cath im sure the Asgard have technology to unfreeze jack
do you think Cath might be asgard? ;)
I don't think I'm smart enough to be an Asgard :p.

Ahh I am in full admiration of you! AMAZING AMAZING. WOW and the beginning of Farscape. I CAN'T BELIEVE FARSCAPE ENDED THE WAY IT DID! I was speechless then I laughed and was speechless again.. horrible I hate when shows finish the way Farscape did, ahh it makes me cringe just thinking about it.
Still in awe of you.. all of Buffy, brilliant. I want to watch all of Buffy in one sitting which.. would take like hmm a week or so ahh somedaysomeday.
how did farscape end?
Well what happened was that they sealed the wormhole to Earth, so they could protect it, so then everyones happy, they go to some planet so the ship Moya can rest and heal. Ahhh then Aeryn and Crichton are on a boat in the sea and they are all happy, he proposes to her, she's having his baby, then all of a sudden some ship comes along and SHOOTS AND KILLS THEM BOTH, they then turn into jelly loookin to be quite dead, and everyone else on the ship sees them screams and crys, THEN IT FINISHES, I WAS HORRIFIED.
I just found out though, that they are having a mini series to finish it off so I'm happy now, horah horah.
No, thats just plain wrong.
No, you cant do that
No, just no

Pretty much somes it up. Though it also barely scratches the surface at the same time.
Season 10 will mainly be about surviving the initial onslaught, falling back and back, having to start all over again. The writers thought it had gotten a bit easy for them the last few series.

I knew O'Neill was coming back briefly but I miss him as a regular, though I also want them to bloody let him and Carter be a couple!
The problem with O'Neill was that the character had become a punchline. It was like every other line he said was a poor "one line" joke. I know they used to portray him as acting dumber than he was, but it had gotten way out of hand.
And the whole Carter & O'Neill will they/won't they storyline was one of the crappiest things they've ever done in SG-1. It's up there with giving the N.I.D a large part in storylines and the debacle that was Jonas Quinn.
Jack and Carter have to get together. One of the laws of Stargate. And Jonas wasn't that bad, it's just that he was poor in comparison to Daniel.

He was that bad.
He was Daniel in everything but name, which was a bit odd considering they let Michael Shanks (Daniel) go only to replace him with an identical character. And to make things worse he was a turncoat who O'Neill blamed for Daniel's death, and then a couple of episodes later he's working with him!?! Gimme a break.
That's why I'm liking Series 9 (and hopefully 10). What with the Ori and the references to religious mythology that come with them, it's got that "old-school" Stargate feeling back to it.

I think that's partly because RDA was losing interest and so wasn't getting as involved any more so his character became a parody of itself.
I thought it was good until it DRAGGED. They should've just had one of them resign, or O'Neill insist Carter be transferred, or a total lapse of concentration leading to a court martial...SOMETHING that would've given it closure. It's like how they won't specifically say if they're together now they're not in each others' direct chain of command....instead we're left with fan theories. If they were written in as a couple, it would END the torment of what was once a decent plotline of UST.
We had no choice but to put up with Jonas Quinn seeing as Daniel had "died".

We had no choice but to put up with Jonas Quinn seeing as Daniel had "died".
Well, they could've easily kept Daniel if the producers. Michael Shanks left because he got he impression that a certain producer was trying to write his character out of the storylines, so instead of becoming "part of the wallpaper" as it where (which is what would happen to O'Neill eventually), he offered to leave so they (well, this one producer) could take the series in the direction he wanted to.
And what did they replace him with? A Daniel Jackson clone.
I still think Jonas gets a hard rep because of it. He did well enough. Although nothing'll ever beat Daniel.
Season 4 is still my favourite though.
Not surprisingly, Daniel is loved a lot more since he was made hot
Lol, true. It was great when Ben Browder joined. My Mum was like "they look so similar! I won't be able to tell them apart!" Then we get Vala going on about the "interesting, but limited genepool". Nice to know the writers aren't oblivious.

It was good, but not great. There was probably too many in-jokes, which didn't make a lot of sense to the "casual" observer.
See, I got most of 'em. To me it was one of the best episodes of the last couple of seasons. I especially enjoyed the Farscape scene. I lol'd.

I would have thought that they'd stopped trying to pick up casual viewers by now. I'm not surprised that SG-1 has been cancelled, and I did wonder how much longer they could carry on with it, especially since another Stargate spin-off is in the offing and Atlantis is still going. I just hope that some people don't try and pin the blame on Ben Browder and Claudia Black (I miss Farscape).

I got the jokes (it was quite funny) but it could've been done soo much better - mainly the bit just before the 'cast' interviews, as I have no idea what the hell was going on there!
I prefer the epic indianna-jones-esque episodes anyway:p!

A lot of fans are blaming RDA for its decline...because even when he was still in it apparently he was really "apathetic" so there's people really giving him a hard time in the SG1 fandom.

It was to tie it back to Wormhole X-Treme. They had similar interviews at the end of that episode as well.

SG1 got cancelled :(.
I hope when it ends they tie up all the lose ends...like O'Neill/Carter HINT HINT.
Every year stargate has been "cancelled" and renewed for another year at the end of the season by Sci-Fi so I wouldn't worry yet.
Even if it is not renewed then it is not the end of SG-1. It is the end of SG-1 on the Sci-Fi Channel. Stargate is a franchise, not just 1 series on Sci-Fi.
I know. But apparently that's it for the SG1 part, Atlantis has been renewed.
I love Atlantis, but it does take some getting into.

yeah it did look a tad dodgy. i would've thought that after all their experiences with michael & how paranoid he is about being found they'd throw a little caution to the wind when it came to browsing through his wraith pron
hopefully they come up with an interesting way for them to get out of it...anything but a convenient last-second beam out from whatever ship is around would be nice
as for ark of truth:
overall i think it was good, considering it's the 11th season compressed into a 90 minute dvd. the budget lovin' means sets are bigger/more elaborate, shots cover a larger area, there's an orchestral score, there are more minor characters with speaking parts & the special effects are phwoar.
ghey list of gheyness:
- replicators. it does sound like the perfect kind of insane IOA contingency plan but ark is supposed to be wrapping up the ori storyline. i make the complaint because we've hardly ever seen anything of the ancients/ori and this is no different!
edit: turns out i got an odd edit of the movie, second complaint was about as valid as michael jackson's application for a nursery
apologies for the really geeky nit picking but after 10 years i guess i went in with big expectations!

Finally Jackson and Vala ended up together! Too bad they didn't know afterwards, but I finally got my kissing moment! Now I can't wait to see the movie. They better kiss again and kick some Ori butt! [/nerd]
I actually hated that move. I guess it's the bitter ex Sam/Jack fan in me. While it'd be nice for them to have finally got together in the next feature length episode, I feel like that ship has sailed now because the story kind of died what with RDA leaving in series 8...
Anyway, basically...I always saw Daniel/Vala as a Sam/Jack substitute. I just couldn't get over that. We'd had 7 series of UST with two characters and to get the exact same thing again with two others got boring really fast.
But hey. I'm not really a "shipper" anymore so this stuff is boring to me anyway ;)
I hope Continuum is on soon. Apparently that's more of a general series conclusion than a series 9/10 conclusion. But I've read the basic plot and it sounds suspiciously like the series 8 finales.

The Ori were based on religious fundamentalism, but their imagery and iconography was Christian themed.
I found them too much like treading old ground. Specifically, the first couple of series before Apophis got owned.
And yes they are quite deliberately Christian fundamentalists. Although, with all the Arthur stuff and their followers being in medieval type stages of development I'd say medieval Catholicism at a push.

It would have been General Hammond's birthday today. :(
I'm gonna miss the old boy. Watching all the episodes form the beginning makes me remember how fucking awesome he was.
Speaking of which, I'm over halfway through Season 2 now. Just watched "A Matter of Time", which is one of my favourite episodes and am halfway though "The Fifth Race", another one of my favourites. Following that is "Serpents Song" which is also awesome. I'd forgotten how good Season 2 is. It only has a couple of bad episodes ("Touchstone" and "One Flase Step"). If I remember correctly, this is where Stargate started to get amazing, culminating in the Season 4 finale. Man, Season 4 was so damned good!
Season 4 is by miles the best season. Probably has the best Season finale as well. Plus Apophis actually felt like a proper threat, rather than some ponse with some mascara. The System Lords were much more threatening when they had their own individual attire, rather than the gold Jaffa armour that they had in the first few Seasons.
The only awesome Goa'uld post-earlier seasons is Ba'al anyway.
Naaaah, I liked Anubis as well. Ba'al was amazing though.
Naaaah, I liked Anubis as well. Ba'al was amazing though.
Anubis became way overused though. I have to admit his partial re-acension was pretty awesome and all the stuff that caused but I was already suffering Anubis burn out by then.
Similarly, I got sick of Ba'al even though I like him. I kinda hoped that the symbiote put into Adria was the last.
Yeah, he was overused. I loved his build up though, from that first mention of him waaaay back in Season 5 during the System Lords meeting with Osiris/Jackson's fit college squeeze. After a while though, he did become dull. Once he died, I wanted him to stay dead, but he came back as some Voldemort style possession...thing.
Voldemort
I did enjoy the episode with that poor Russian guy. And also when Daniel gets THE CHOICE again, if I hadn't read spoilers before I first watched that episode the reveal would've been a total OMG moment!
[It's in 'Threads' I believe.]
Threads and the two parter before that, Reckoning, were some of the best episodes of SG-1 if you ask me. If I remember correctly, Reckoning had an amazing fleet battle. I <3 fleet battles !

I dunno, I thought Moebius was pretty fun, it just shouldn't have been a Season finale. It's not a bad a finale as the Season 5 finale. What numpty decided to not end Season 5 with Daniel's ascension?!

I like little things about Moebius but it did feel like a poor imitation of previous stories.
Oh yeah I really don't get why they didn't end with his death. Too weird.
And series 6 sucked. Mostly cos I wanted to punch Jack for hating on Jonas for so long. We ALL hated Jonas but being an arsehole about him wasn't making it any better
I didn't hate Jonas, per se, I just thought he was a poor replacement. I do feel sorry for Corin Nemec though . Jack suffered when he didn't have Daniel to spar with if you ask me. That's why all the best episodes in Season 6 are the ones where Michael Shanks guest stars.
Abyss = best ever.
It's up there, but I think Full Circle is better still.

Full Circle is great. But I love Window of Opportunity. Mostly because it was hilarious and yet still managed to have a decent plot.
