Mr Bungle is a band, they got their name from this kids tv show. on that show there was a puppet thing, and it was called Mr Bungle. it was like really naughty in school, like pushing in lines, and not washing his hands before eating (mind you, this was the 50's i think)

the kids would go around saying "we don't want to be like Mr Bungle" etc. they got the name from that.

they're a really good band, California is my favourite album i think, altho, they all have my favourte songs on them.

check out the songs:

Air Conditioned Nightmare
The Bends
Squeeze Me Macaroni

just listen to those, see what you think, then get some of the albums.

as one of my heroes i must say mike patton is an insane musical genius and i love him. i love what he and the dillinger escape plan did, "irony is a dead scene" a cd of 6 or so insanity driven songs that conclude mike patton is a genius. fantomas and tomahawk are 2 of his best "projects" in my opinion! thank you ,for making a thread about this guy and realising that there are great solo musicians still around!

Patton's work is f**king brilliant  Tomahawk is awesome, their song Capt. Midnight is amazing the chorus for it is so sick. I've listen to The Dillinger Escape Plan with Patton so much I just can't listen to it anymore. Mr. Bungle is also great, Self Titled good but I like California the best. I can't forget good ol' Faith No More. He also worked with Bjork on her last album, which is a dream come true :D and last but not least Fantomas with its crazy goodness

Mr Bungle - Disco Volante. Not my favourite of the bungle albums, but you should get it if you want mr pattons stuff. I's very different to the other 2 bungle albums, which in turn are different from each other.

Suspended Animation and Fantomas Amenaza al Mundo are much more "fantomas" then the directors cut, in my opinion, and they're decent also.

I'm afraid my patton knowledge is limited. Apparently that "peeping tom" this is good if you look up a few posts...

And there's "tomahawk" also, but I haven't heard their stuff...

batmus51,
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who had trouble with this cd. I was on the point of attacking it with scissors when it suddenly sprang open. Yes I really like it. Five Seconds, Mojo, Don't even Trip and Celebrity Death Match are my favourites. I would imagine that this is Mike Patton at his most accesible. If you want to hear the opposite, I suggest you try his 'Crowley At The Crossroads' concert with John Zorn. I saw him do this at the Barbican in June. He sang/performed 'Moonchild' (Songs Without Words) with Trevor Dunn (Bass) and Joey Baron (percussion). It was just incredible. It was recorded. I think you could try and find it on the BBC Radio 3 website under- Hear and Now.
Lots of love Blackwings.

If you want something really hard to "get into", try Trevor Dunn's album "Sister Phantom Owl Fish", under "Trevor Dunn's Trio Convulsant", if you don't know it. It's rather wierd. I'm gonna listen to it again...

One word to describe Mike Patton-----Genius

Blackwings
20-09-2006, 06:28 PM
If you go to the BBC Radio 3 website now!!!
Type of show - Experimental
Programme - Hear and Now.
You will hear Mike Patton's performance of John Zorn's ' Moonchild' as inspired by Aleister Crowley. This was broadcast on Sat 16th sept, but I forgot about it, though I was as the concert.
Patton is in the last part of the broadcast, though he was on first, on the night. But listen to the commentary - quite sureal for Patton to be on Radio 3. The Boredoms get a good mention in the interval, and I do agree that ' Eye' is a younger version of Patton ( more so if you've seen him).
From the commentary it sounds as if there is a C.D of this work availible.
I don't know how long the broadcast will be on the site, maybe only til saturday.
Patton was a demonic animal - really!! tut tut at the Barbican.
Big hit with half the audiance.

Mike Patton - Mondo Cane & Ilosaarirock Sinfonietta. The best gig I've been to. I think they played 20min extra and Nightwish had to start to a half empty crowd.

I have all faith no more, the stuff he did with DEP. And that's about it. I have the Darkness too. but I only found Mike Patton did the voice when I was playing it

I heard Mr Bungle, but I was fucked off my tits at the time so don't really remember.

Some other people I know bang on about Fantomas and Tomahawk all the time though.

*edit*

I also have various HBMS stuff, dan the automator, Prince paul etc...

It's got some quality tracks on it for the style that it's done in.

Just incase nobody knew, Mike Patton is curating the Nightmare Before Christmas ATP festival this year

his tracks with DEP were among the finest I've heard by them. Their other vocalists simply aren't in the same league.

I can't decide who is my favourite. Maynard, jeff or Mike. All are best in their seperate fields. I lean to mike because he has shown a greater range of versatility.
