Thank goodness.

Finally! I'm a little scared of what Ian changed, to be honest. :stunned:

someone care to explain why it went down? I'm not really a big fan of coldplay, and don't hang out on there messageboards, but last few days there's been a lot more activity from the Coldplay fans on this board because of whatever's happening there >< Something about people arguing or whatever?

Basically, there were rumors going around that a member was storing information of users and then threatening them. When it was brought up, the administration dealt with it privately, but some users didn't realize it and kept bringing it up, causing a large fight.

Not as bad as the last fight though, that one was horrific.

I did. It wasn't working for half the forum, and I was one of those unlucky people to lose it.

Parachutes is a good solid debut, but not great.
AROBTTH built upon Parachutes and is even better but it's still just good IMO.
X&Y was awful for the most part.
VLV is probably my favourite thing they've done so far, apart from some of the terrible lyrics.
Still no great albums there, but three pretty good ones.

Yeah, The Hardest Part actually improved tremendously upon its live piano rendition. Just wish the LRLRL version didn't have that woman shrieking herself horse at the end. It's kind of funny how practically half the performances of the song involve Chris messing up the notes or the lyrics or randomly stopping to yell a profanity. The X&Y version is okay, but it's one of the album's shallowest songs.

White Shadows, on the other hand, is a song I seriously want back on the next tour. It's kind of a shame that Fix You was the only "standard" X&Y track present throughout the Viva tour, given how Talk was remixed and shortened, how The Hardest Part was altered (though improved), and how Speed of Sound was randomly dropped halfway through the tour.

Yeah, I agree. Less backing tracks, but like you said their setlists are so much longer. I disagree with the better stage set up though. . . To be fair, it's not really "delayed" when there hasn't been any definitive release time frame to begin with. Most of what we've been going off of is Chris's speculation, which changes every time he speaks about the album. Still, mid-2011 would be fine with me, given how A) That's around a full 3 years since Viva, and B) They have shows starting up then, anyway.

2. I really like this song as a Christmas single, but I can't say I'm not happy it's not going to be on LP5
3. Early Coldplay > New Coldplay

I was on the boat, on the left side on the clip. It was nice but we were cold. Nice atmosphere though.

Really? That's :awesome:!

Yes but I go to this website from time to time. I used to be on it more often when the band was touring, then there was no tour nor new album for a while. I only had a look from time to time. There was a competition recently so i took part to it by chance. :stunned:

Same thing could be said about most of the songs from X&Y. But they picked themselves up from that and VLV was really good, so I hope Christmas Lights isn't indicative of the style or quality of LP5.

I just hope they scrapped the bad parts, and kept the good bits. Christmas Lights is okay, but they can do so, so much better. Even the demos that leaked 2 years ago are better than this!

In mid-January already a fan met them outside of The Bakery (their recording studio) and they said they were just about done recording. But Chris Martin has been known to exaggerate, so I'd say that they're nearly (or completely) done recording now and are choosing the songs, ordering them, mixing them, etc. Just a guess though. :p

Yeah, agree. I wouldn't mind seeing Bloodless Revolution on this album, to be honest.

I thought that Christmas Lights was a pretty good Christmas song though. Better than listening to "Jingle Bells" over and over again. Although I'm glad it won't be reused for LP5.

But if they do another dark album then they'll just get more Radiohead comparisons. So I don't even know what I want them to do. I'll just have to hope that whatever they do turns out well.

They've never done dark and fucked up. That was fine back when their style was much more human, personal and straightforward, but in the last two albums they've tried to dress it up and overproduce to high hell, which is a shame.

Yellow? Shiver? Clocks?
A Rush of Blood to the Head (admittedly one of their best songs - it's a pity they've dropped it live) was as dark as I recall them getting, and it wasn't altogether that dark imho. I agree with the comments about their music being 'dressed up' and 'overproduced' these days, however I still thought VLV was a decent album (X&Y has grown off me profusely) so I still have reasonable expectations for LP5.

I think he means all the hits from Viva la vida.

And I have to agree. Even the broad guitar layers on X&Y had some sense of subtelty and consistence where as VLV is just filled with filler noises.

Then again, I think X&Y is still their best stuff. Prog-pop at it's finest. I hope they return to that.

I agree that X&Y had some of their best stuff but too many of the songs were just too long. For example I love White Shadows but that part on the end just sounded like they were trying too hard. I also think X&Y had some dark sounding songs (Square One, White Shadows, Twisted Logic), different from the darkness of A Rush Of Blood To The Head (the song) though. Feel free to let me know if i'm a bit farfetched here :$ Don't think they will go back there for LP5 though.

They're the only bands I really like there, so it's not worth it unfortunately. The lineup's too top heavy, there's a fair few big acts at the top but most of the 'mid-tier' ones are Australian bands I don't care for, unlike previous years where they've had quite good artists from overseas as well imo.

Soooo the news that Coldplay is headlining Lolla along with Muse has totally re-fueled my love of them! :awesome: I've never seen them live before, so I'm insanely excited! :D (Fingers crossed they don't conflict with Muse though! They'd be crazy to have them play the same night, wouldn't they? :erm:)

Anyway, I'm back in a Coldplay mood... first time in a while! Gotta get myself psyched for Lolla :D

It's 'very nearly' finished and has been named according to their website and is supposed to be released in their Autumn so I'd say an announcement isn't too far off. Viva la Vida was announced around three months before its release so I'd guess it'll be announced in the next two months or so.

I think the claim that they'd have a new album at the end of 2009 was very, very, very optimistic. It sounded like they'd worked on some stuff during breaks between tour legs but hadn't gotten too far.

Thanks for the info! Although I was expecting them to release the new album before the big festival date. Probably they'd thought their popularity is enough to sell the tickets even before actually releasing the album, but a premiere of a new song to promote the festival appearance would be nice.

Coldplay have published three cryptic tweets on their official Twitter account, Twitter.com/coldplay, which may give hints about the title of their new single or album.

One tweet links to a moving image that spells out the message: "Maybe the trees are gone". Another spells, "Maybe the streets alight" while a third one reads, "I feel my heart start beating to my favourite song". The first two messages are written in flashing text with the other written in a brightly coloured font.

A similar message was posted yesterday which reads: "I turn the music up, I got my records on, I shut the world outside until the lights come on."

No details have been posted as to what the messages mean or if they are an indication of a future announcement - although fans are speculating that they could point to names for new songs or the band's next album.

Coldplay have been recording their new album with Brian Eno over the last few months and last year, but have given few details about how it will sound or how it differs from their previous efforts. The band are booked for a series of UK festivals this summer, including headline slots at T In The Park and Glastonbury.
Hopefully this means album will be announced soon

Coldplay have posted a new video teaser for their as yet untitled fifth studio album.
The video features a rumbling bass line accompanied by a series of lines of lyrics being shown over the top. The lyrics posted read: "But my heart is beating and my pulses start. Cathedrals in my heart. And we saw oh this light. I swear you, emerge blinking into to tell me it’s alright. As we soar walls, every siren is a symphony and every tear's a waterfall."

The posting contains no further details other than the lyrics and minimal musical background.

This is the second mysterious posting the band have made in the last few days. They posted three flashing images on Wednesday (May 25), which also contained what appear to be lyrics from their new album, but again with no formal details of song titles.

The band have spent the last year recording the follow up to 2008's 'Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends', but have given almost no details about how the album is progressing.

I think they'll probably have a few more hints and stuff, to build up the hype even more and then release the single tomorrow
This is exciting :D. I like when bands build up a sense of mystery before an album is announced

These are the predictions from Coldplaying:
This is one of the most exciting times to be a Coldplay fan. On the verge of a new album era (soon to be defunct "LP5") we're almost upon the new single, so we're given to believe after Monday's latest video from ColdplayTV. The 'final' video teaser arrived with the following lyrics: "But my heart is beating and my pulses start / Cathedrals in my heart / And we saw oh this light / I swear you, emerge blinking into / to tell me it's alright / as we soar walls / every siren is a symphony / and every tear's a waterfall."

So far on Monday evening we've had several discussion points, the first being the theory that the title of the album is roughly "Mnemonics and Murals". The second point is that something new will happen on Tuesday, possibly being the new single dropping, given the lyrics videos may have "finally" dried up. Thirdly, the lyrics we've seen so far might either be the completion of one song, two songs, three songs, or four songs from a forthcoming EP or even a collection of every song on the new album! Fourthly, there's a new Coldplay song called Shooting Star, according to the PRS database.

Dear friends

We're about to play a bunch of summer festivals so it's as good a time as any to put out a new song.

'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall' will be available digitally on Friday 3rd June at 12pm (BST), except in the UK where it'll come out on the stroke of midnight between Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th June.

We'll also stream it here on Friday and give it a run out at Rock Im Park.

Love Will

Oh and guys, here are the lyrics to "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall"

I TURN THE MUSIC UP, I GOT MY RECORDS ON
I SHUT THE WORLD OUTSIDE UNTIL THE LIGHTS COME ON
MAYBE THE STREETS ALIGHT, MAYBE THE TREES ARE GONE
I FEEL MY HEART START BEATING TO MY FAVOURITE SONG

AND ALL THE KIDS THEY DANCE, ALL THE KIDS ALL NIGHT
UNTIL MONDAY MORNING FEELS ANOTHER LIFE
I TURN THE MUSIC UP
I'M ON A ROLL THIS TIME
AND HEAVEN IS IN SIGHT

I TURN THE MUSIC UP, I GOT MY RECORDS ON
FROM UNDERNEATH THE RUBBLE SING A REBEL SONG
DON'T WANT TO SEE ANOTHER GENERATION DROP
I'D RATHER BE A COMMA THAN A FULL STOP

MAYBE I'M IN THE BLACK, MAYBE I'M ON MY KNEES
MAYBE I'M IN THE GAP BETWEEN THE TWO TRAPEZES
BUT MY HEART IS BEATING AND MY PULSES START
CATHEDRALS IN MY HEART

AND WE SAW OH THIS LIGHT I SWEAR YOU, EMERGE BLINKING INTO
TO TELL ME IT'S ALRIGHT
AS WE SOAR WALLS, EVERY SIREN IS A SYMPHONY
AND EVERY TEAR'S A WATERFALL
IS A WATERFALL
OH
IS A WATERFALL
OH OH OH
IS A IS A WATERFALL
EVERY TEAR
IS A WATERFALL
OH OH OH

SO YOU CAN HURT, HURT ME BAD
BUT STILL I'LL RAISE THE FLAG

OH
IT WAS A WA WA WA WA WA-ATERFALL
A WA WA WA WA WA-ATERFALL

EVERY TEAR
EVERY TEAR
EVERY TEARDROP IS A WATERFALL

EVERY TEAR
EVERY TEAR
EVERY TEARDROP IS A WATERFALL

Pitchfork comment:

That ultra-colorful, spray-paint-festooned image you see above is the cover art for Coldplay's new single, "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall". The band just announced the track on their website this morning; it'll be streamed on their site and digitally released this Friday, June 3 (those in the UK will be able to buy it the next day). According to a statement from drummer Will Champion, the band plans to perform the song at their festival appearances this summer, including this weekend's Rock Im Park festival in Nuremberg, Germany.

If you head over to the band's site now, you can read the lyrics to the song, which include the following couplet: "Don't want to see another generation drop/ I'd rather be a comma than a full stop." Real talk: If there's one band that shouldn't be releasing lyrics before people hear the actual music, it's probably Coldplay

Lyrics are very Coldplay, slightly nonsensical with lots of odd metaphors, but that doesn't matter because I'm sure the music will be good. I love the art style, so hopefully the music will continue on from Viva la Vida and be more experimental for them.
