I'm lucky me and my dad have the same musical taste, and I have a pretty broad range from like muse to the streets to chemical brothers and other stuff, no hip-hop though, the streets are as close as I'll ever get to that crap genre.

Edit: BTW, does anybody know of any secrets on either of the dvds.

I'm wondering does the Hullabaloo DVD have thier video clips on them or will I have to buy the cd singles for that?

Clunge
21-10-2006, 08:20 AM
Nope.

Hullaballo =

DVD 1: Live @ The Zenith in Paris
DVD 2: 40 min documentary about the band on tour, which is tres amusing. There's a gallery and stuff too.

No music vids/video clips on there.

OK, it's just I dont have a credit card, I use mums, and eBays a bidding site. I also discovered the Hyper Music box for sale for about 20 pounds so I may get that instead. It has all the videos I need and most of the OOS b-sides are on Hullaballoo right?

matoran
21-10-2006, 10:54 AM
Oh the Hyper Music box is in Japan, does that mean it's all written in Japanese.

And the Absolution and OOS boxes, are the CDs inside the same as the UK ones or are they all French as well?

if its the japanese hyper music/feeling it is good it has all the bsides off the OoS singles and 3 of the main tracks (newborn, hyper music and feeling good) are live ones

theres only a few things different about it and the french box you dont get dead star,in your world, cant take my eyes off you and futurism (so if you want them get the single(s))

EDIT: its all in english apart from one side of the cover sleeve

im just gunna buy the single of dead star/in your world as its cheaper but i think the box set was a french only release (suppose it wouldnt make to much a difference as the song names and stuff will still be in english)

and continuing the dead star/in your world theme they both have videos on the english release depending on which one you buy (CD1 has dead star and CD2 has in your world)

er...

there are two different versions of uno, two versions of muscle museum (three if u count a directors cut), unintended, theres also a starlight directors cut, in your world, dead star....cant thinkof anymore....

edit: oh yeah and there are two versions of hysteria and theres also a vid for hyper music

The French EP of Dead Star/In Your World is only unique because it has an instrumental of Dead Star on it - otherwise you can find the rest of the songs by buying the CD singles.

you can download the audio if you know how - download/buy a software (like audacity) that can record off your computer and turn it into a mp3 file and record the whatever you want off that plays thru your computer like stuff off youtube

Hello, I need some help from all you Muse fans.

On the hullabaloo dvd - the second disc - Matt comments that When faced with blackness one has no choice but to look inward and I do believe he mentions a name, possibly of the philosophers writing from which he took the idea from. Any idea of the name?

I think that it comes after the segment where they all jump on Tom (who is behind the camera) and trash the set at the end of a show.

If anyone could find out for me it would be very helpful. Ive lost my hullabaloo dvd.

Thank you.

Ben

They're on the set of the Weakest Link when he says that... I think Matt was just saying what it feels like to be onstage, he wasn't quoting anyone (don't remember a name).

Wasn't it, "You are presented with yourself... and you are favourable." Or something.

Hmmm sounds familliar. Though I am pretty sure he says something like: Like Joe Bloggs says, when faced with......ect or something to that effect.

Are you sure it was one the weakest link. I seem to remeber there being no shot of him saying it, there is just darkness. I could be wrong it has been a while since i've seen it.

It's when the screen goes black just after the whole stage-trashing thing at the end. And I think the words are "when presented with blackness, you see yourself". Can't remember the name though.

The bit you are on about is near the end. Where it's all dark, after a japenese show then Dom jumps into the crowd and get's lost among the fans.
I don't know if he quoted someone though. I remember trying to figure out what he was on about.

Right, I'll listen to it again but I'll record the audio of it and post it up and see if anyone can guess. I don't think it's a philosophical quotation though. It's just Matt using big words and sayings (for him anyway).

Saying this now because I need to know whether it's allowed and I don't break any copyright rules etc.

Im sure its fine, im sure no one will file a law suit against you even if it is copyright. Besides you tube does it all the time.

If it does turn out to be his own thoughts can anyone with a knowledge of philosophy point me in the direction of some appropriate writings. Im trying to write my artist manifesto.

The Hullabaloo DVD was never released in North America. However, (most?) import versions are Region Free, PAL version. As long as your DVD/TV set can read PAL you should be okay. Most modern equipment reads PAL now but older TV/DVD players might not be able to.

I noticed that Windows did that, and even the track listing on barnesandnoble.com was wrong, which initially pissed me off when I got it in the mail.

Dunno why...but the track listing seems to be correct on bn.com now.

I finally found Hullabaloo. I couldn't find it anywhere because we have no authentic (or at least good) music stores around here, and I even checked library listings-not a single library in my entire state owns it. So I bought it today! =D I LOOOOVE it. I still have to watch the DVD part of it, I'm excited. :D I remember someone mentioning to me once that they didn't think it was very good...blasphemy. What do you guys think? Love it, hate it, like it a little?

But its good[teh B-sides and the concert] SU, Shine, Gallery, HCM makes disc 1 good, Dead Star and In Your World alone makes disc 2 great and the Slipknot thing makes the DVD excellent but the Wembley/Parc des Princes DVD will overcast it.

Hullabaloo in my eyes isn't an album - excusing the live CD, it's a compilation of b-sides. Hardly an album to me.

I do like some songs off it like The Gallery and Hyper Chondriac Music.

It is a compilation album but it's not an proper album. I don't count it as a proper album because it just isn't - the songs were recording in a period of three years and different periods in between.

Are we talking about the DVD or CD here? Yeah I try to avoid calling Hullaballoo an album it is seen as a "soundtrack" but I do love it all the same I barely listen to the live side though don't know why. Nope, even the B-Side disk is far superior to OoS. And unsurprisingly, the Showbiz era B-Sides are better. As for the live CD, it's OK but a bit pointless really.

I also don't regard it as an actual Muse album, they've released 4 official albums. I still love it though, some of the b-sides are class, and the live tracks are really well performed!! I just can't say Anything bad about Muse songs, I really can't! :D

Ok, so I just bought it the other day, and I thought that it's a 2 disc DVD set PLUS the second disc also contained DVD footage. Was I wrong? Is the Hullabaloo DVD a separate thing I'd have to buy? I tried playing the second disc in my DVD player, all excited to see Matt with his crazy hair, white suit and cane (lololol) but all it did was play the CD tracks. :( Someone help, please.

I swear they dont sell Hullabaloo in the shops anymore. Iv been lookin ages n all i can find is stacks upon stacks of Absolution Tour which i already have! Im resisting watching the documentary on youtube (its just wouldnt feel right) and it physically pains me every time someone references it!

I know, I've also been looking for ages, saw it once in a shop a year ago or so, but didn't buy it then, how stupid. Recently I finally figured out that in a big cd store in Brussels they ordered two copies for their shop, but one of the guys from that shop told me that actually there is/was a big delivery problem with everything from Muse. They had a lot of trouble ordering their albums as well, he told me. That problem is solved now, but the problem with Hullabaloo remains. I went to another store and acted as if I didn't know anything, and there they told me about the same thing: Muse changed from record company, and now everything has to be released from warner, which takes some time... The albums and the Absolution dvd have changed already, Hullabaloo should follow. Hope they tell the truth! And this is the story for Belgium, so I also hope it's something similar in the other countries as well, so you all can just go to the store and buy Hullabaloo soon ;-)

Watched the dvd today, I must say that the extra disc was less than I expected - but maybe that is because I've been watching YouTube too much and the best stuff is on there in fact. The rest is "just fun". The concert is great, don't know what I like the most: the Glastonbury (Absolution) concert or this one. But I think I prefer this, the more recent live stuff is almost "too perfect" for me :$

Anyway, certainly a must-have for fans, glad I finally ordered it!

I recently bought the Hullabaloo DVD and noticed the performance of Darshines was not on there so why is Darkshines on the Hullabaloo live CD but not on the DVD? Did they do even more songs at that gig that were not featured on either the CD or DVD?

Yeah I agree with that. The more recent live performances have been a bit too polished imo. They're still amazing but much more subdued, not as loose or uninhibited as before.. sometimes I just want to see them to go a bit mad and do something out of schedule lol. Hullabaloo is a great example of that, the whole concert was energised, not because the of the sharp edits an cameras angles, but because they seem more relaxed or less restricted when they played if you get my meaning. And I just Love the ending after Bliss ... Matt looks like a flailing doll when he leaps on top of Chris an they trash the hell out of everything  Now that's the stuff of class performances! :D

To my knowledge there is no region 1 version in existence. I always figured the $100 version was a placeholder... at bestbuy.com it always said it was unavailable... I can't believe amazon actually charged you for it :stunned:

What kind of DVD player do you have? Have you ever tried googling around to see if it's possible to unlock it?

My DVD player wasn't anything special, but after looking it up I found that if I entered a certain code in from the remote I could unlock it and set it to any region I wanted. I set it to Reg 0 and now I can watch Hullabaloo and the Abso DVD and can also watch all my regular DVD's too....

Out of curiousity, where did you find the cheap (real) version on amazon? I'm only seeing the $100 one that claims to be region 1.

Expensive! gaaah! (http://www.amazon.com/Hullabaloo-Live-at-Zenith-Paris/dp/B0000695XP/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1236744016&sr=8-6)

But either way, I'm nearly certain there isn't a US version in existence, so to watch it you have to have a multi-region player....

Can you change the settings on your DVD player if you get a DVD that's not the right region or whatever?
DVD's are coded to work in specific regions, the US and Canada are region 1, the UK is region 2, etc... it has to do with movies having different release dates in different places and stuff like that...

Wikiwiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dvd_region)

There is also a region 0, which means "region free", and should play in every DVD players (but i've seen US people having trouble with it, possibly due to the different video format...? We're NTSC, nearly everyone else is PAL)

But anyway... if you have a Reg1 dvd player, you can only play Reg1 or Reg0 DVD's.

Some players are multi-region, so they can play anything... and some can be unlocked. Like I said in a post above, my DVD player is a region 1 player, but it can be unlocked to play other regions...

If you're wondering about your player, try googling the model number and region code or something like that... that's how I found out about mine :D

Yeah.. I didn't really need to ask that since I went to google right after I posted it.
Sorry I wasted your time, thanks for checking!

Yup... it's not a whole lot of fun searching high and low for anything Muse related for half a year only to get your hands on three of their studio albums and HAARP. :supersad: So I'm doing a massive online Muse merch order when I get home from uni tomorrow: Hullabaloo, Abso Tour DVD, OoS (that's right... they don't even have Origin here ), perhaps a poster or two and a t-shirt. Yes... that is bad... it's sorta odd too... because my copy of origin says copyright 2005 warner music, so it isn't an import or anything -- warner apparently released a "US" version after Muse signed with them.

My Hullabaloo CD, on the other hand, was an import....

mskitte you say? Do you know how long ago she ordered it?

Get the one with the DVD extras/documentary! You want that documentary. It's quite possibly the best part of Hullabaloo.

But those were sold separately, if you have both of them you'd get a total of 4 hullabaloo discs, 2 of which are videos and 2 are audios. The pic on the link Wazlib posted, that's the cover for the soundtrack (audio), my copy looks exactly the same and there's no video on the Hulla soundtrack just pure audios and incomplete recordings of the gig (as far as I can remember, I hardly listen to that album).

Only the live CD contains less tracks than the DVD. For me it is totally necessary to have - I listen to the live disc more than any other Muse album. I think the b-side are good but not great, they do sound like b-sides (funny that), they work much better on the DVD in the documentary.

I am not chuffed at the moment. I had a day off work today so I went and bought the Hullabaloo DVD from my local HMV store. I was watching it and thinking "This is great!" when it got to the end of Sunburn, paused briefly and then returned to the start of Sunburn. No matter what I tried it would not advance automatically to Showbiz. I could manually advance it to Showbiz by pressing the next track button, but that is not acceptable as a regular thing. I took the DVD back to the shop and exchanged it for another copy. And guess what, the replacement had exactly the same fault. This was in spite of neither copy having any visible scratches. :( So I will have to return at the weekend and either ask for my money back or swap it for the Absolution Tour DVD + £1 (the latter is a pound cheaper). I had been looking forward to seeing this DVD all day and ironically it is 8 years to the day since the second of the two gigs at Le Zenith which were filmed. So as I said initially I am not a happy bunny. :(
