There's another scene in Hullabaloo where Matt is walking away from a Lotus Exige. Does anyone know if that's his or whether he was just checking it out?

(In case you're wondering, a Lotus Exige is a small, very fast, fibreglass English car, just the sort of thing he'd drive)

People like the nutter who created this thread make it uncomfortable for a band to have any contact with their fans because they will get hassled with mundane questions and requests from obsessive fans who read too much into things and become jelous as a still from a DVD which clearly shows no sexual activity what so ever and was also released 4 years ago.

Hi guys

Well I finally received my Hullabaloo DVD yesterday and after reading how it's so much better than the Absolution Tour DVD I have to say I'm a tad dissapointed. The Absolution DVD totally blew me away and I think it's probably the best live performance / footage I've seen. Maybe it's the songs (i'm not that familiar with all the songs on Hullabaloo) but even apart from that, the sound quality and filming technique on Absolution seems far superior. The camera doesn't stay on any particular viewpoint for (it seems) more than a second at a time and it even started to give me a bit of a headache (could be my age!!) Having said that it's still a fine purchase it's just I was lead to believe it was heaps better than the Absolution DVD which in my opinion it most certainly isn't. Perhaps I should have bought Hullabaloo first - Absolution is a extremely hard DVD to follow. Perhaps I'm going to provoke a few people by saying this and I apologise now if I wind anyone up with my opinion. I hope I don't, it's just my opinion.

Each to their own. Nice to know that someone isn't automatically slating Abso Tour DVD just for the fact that there is only 2 Earls Court tracks.

I still think Hullaballoo is better though for content but that might be because I watched Glasto live and have downloaded and watching again and again since. Hullaballoo just seemed better to me because it was the one gig, had an entire set list and it had the 2nd disc of general rubbishness which kept me entertained.

I've only watched it once so maybe after a few more watches my opinion will change. The only Muse album i've got is Absolution which i bought more or less when it was released so i'm very familiar with the songs. However i do intend to buy the rest.

I only got the Abdo Tour DVD when it was released in December and hadn't seen any of it before so it is very fresh for me at the moment. I take your point about the one whole gig though and it's great to see the boys having such a great laugh on disc 2.

The Glasto one was filmed by the BBC so will be boring tv camera work, Hullabaloo was filmed or at least directed by one Tom Kirk. I prefer Hullabaloo, apart from the far superior tracklist it just seems a better era live-wise before they went all Absolutiony on us, plus the camera angles add to the excitement. It's more of a 'gig' feel than just a TV live feed plus the menus/extras are more arty and interesting. I love it, best thing they've ever released, Hullabaloo.

Look here old man, no-one gives a toss about your shitty opinion on here. If you disagree with what the majority think, then expext to be called a n00b and a dirty smelly ladyboy, we're all very mature on here! It may be your opinion but you are wrong, accept it. Your old maness probably didn't appreciate all the magical moments of Hullabaloo that were non-existant on the Abso DVD. For example Dom's Slipknot impression featuring a sombrero, red haired Matt attacking Dom mid-interview and plentyfull drunk nightvision action.

I've decided to limit my posts on this board to correcting people's mistakes. Hopefully people will have the sense to not get offended.

And another thing you once said that really disturbed me. Most of the time I don't give a damn about people's taste in movies, but when you said that the fourth HP movie was one of the best you'd seen, I felt nauseous. Even if you're exaggerrating, it's still very disturbing. I honestly hope you didn't mean that, and if you did, slap yourself and watch a real movie.

Your old maness probably didn't appreciate all the magical moments of Hullabaloo that were non-existant on the Abso DVD. For example Dom's Slipknot impression featuring a sombrero, red haired Matt attacking Dom mid-interview and plentyfull drunk nightvision action.

In fact it's probably nothing to do with the fact your *gasp* 39!!!! You are just a humourless dick face.

I've yet to see the Absolution DVD. But I don't really want to try and pretend I'm watching a real live performance as it's just backing tracks these days, plus Matt can't even be bothered to switch his effects himself now.
That's what great about Hullabaloo, it's a real Muse live performance.

Yeah, every time I see Hullabaloo I regard it as absolute editing mastery. First of all there's about 14 cameras, the cameramen of which must have all had some form of communication with each other (so much organisation), the cinematography is really beautiful in parts, the composition of shots etc - very creative, in fact the cameramen seem to know exactly what's gonna happen on stage/in the song in order to do an appropriate type of shot; and very few shots are more than a second long, which means this will have taken SO long to edit... and with 14 cameras! At least. Absolutely unbelievable. And then all the decoration on top, effects and what not.

It's "to each their own."

I've decided to limit my posts on this board to correcting people's mistakes. Hopefully people will have the sense to not get offended.

1) That's pedantry which makes you look even worse
2) You're wrong, it's 'Each to their own', if you're talking about the actual phrase itself. Regardless, each version is syntactically correct, so this observation is rendered even more pointless

That's not at all pedantic. It would be if I added a detailed explanation of why what they wrote is incorrect and said that they must spell it the right way from now on.

Yeah but...*considers googling* *decides against it* but saying "each to their own" slightly changes the phrase. It makes it sound like the shorter version of "each is entitled to their own opinion." What does syntax have to do with anything in this case? Doesn't seem like a syntactical difference.

Ahem

1) Pedantry is picking at little tiny things that needn't be picked out, which you did. What does commenting on the way the person who wrote 'Each to their own' organised their syntax add to the topic?
2) I already Googled it, I was right.
3) 'Each to their own' does not change the phrase. 'To each,( : ) their own' is just another organisation of syntax to mean the same thing, but more archaic. For example, 'For you: a burgoh' is the same as 'A burger for you'.
4) Syntax has everything to do with it considering you were complaining about the person's syntax.
5) Even if the relevance syntax has to this topic was debatable, it would have more relevance than your pedantry in the first place.

Hullabaloo, low budget?

Hullabaloo must have cost a bomb to produce, 14 or so cameras, tonnes of other things to take into account, special set pieces.

Glasto was just TV footage of Muse doing a gig like any other on the Absolution Tour (even if it was Glastonbury).

Hullabaloo was a special gig, designed to be shot for a DVD, very much I think what they planned to do with Earls Court but couldn't due to the apparant poor quality footage.

... You're having a laugh low budget.

I'd estimate that, considering equipment rental costs and the costs of hiring crew, that DVD would have cost about £20,000 to make. I reckon. Considering how much it costs to rent that sort of equipment. And they had cranes and everything. And the crew were bloody good.

Well at the risk of being ripped apart one more time I feel I must aplogise for my outragreous comments on 01.02.06

I have watched said DVD lots more times then and I now admit I was a twat. Well, blind and deaf twat at that. I'm now with the rest of you and worship Hullabaloo, it is f-ing awesome! Watched some of the Abso DVD last night after Hullabaloo and can't figure out what the hell I was going on about. It truly a work of art.

Anyway I couldn't just leave things the way they were with everyone thinking I couldn't see what was on the end of my nose so I had to write and let you know I have seen the error of my ways.

Et moi! Je suis preferée Hullabulloo aussi.

Just had a burst of clarity late this night…At 9:30…And…I didn't wanna do more than one post a night but I knew I'd forget otherwise…In Hullabaloo (Pictured in my Avatar) is that the ClockWork Orange outfit? It's white, its a top hat, it's a staff:stunned:
That was a damn good movie…But yeah…Is it? It really has very little relevance to anythign but I see it as a point THAT MUST BE HEARD.

No, there was something on the radio about what it's inspired by, it was some film where a man was chased down a beach by these bouncing white balls, and I presume in the film they wore this clothing.

The clothing for Hullabaloo is nothing like Clockwork Orange, even though it's easy to assume Muse rip-off as many aspects of popular culture as possible.

The Prisoner was a TV series from the 60s about a prison in a strange villiage in Wales (correct me if I'm wrong) where random and macabre things would happen. Like Twin Peaks if you like that sort of thing. I grew up with it so its kinda normal to me....Some people getting chased by Rovers for you....

Haven't saw it for a while but it is the business. Really good.

I thought the Absolution tour DVD was dissapointing to be honest. I mean it was basically just them playing at Glastonbury, with some added extras from the tour. Too polished in my opinion.

I did love the little film 'the groove in the states'....goin off at a tangent here... It was really good and much more in the spirit of Hullabaloo. Matt chucks his guitar in a dust bin at the end, for fecks sake. Its brilliant. And then some guy comes along and decides he's just got himself a new guitar, says 'its my guitar now' and then makes a sharp exit.

Now that's rock and roll.

Yes, exactly!
I find it great my dad actually like Muse's music, at first I thought he would think it as "rebel music" and "its too heavy and angsty", but then again, he doesn't really know them. I let him watch funny interviews and videos from Muselive/YouTube/etc, letting him hear softer songs like Unintended, so I can show him that Muse aren't all "heavy rock", and things like that. But its a shame I can't let him see the "other side of Muse": "SIT THE FUCK DOWN!" My god... I don't know how my dad'll react to that. :stunned: Of course, I also can't let him listen/read things that involve naughty things  , shroom eating.. stuff like that.
My dad might die of shock if he hears them swear. He hasn't heard them swear at all, except for 'damn', and 'hell' in songs, which aren't even really swearing though... Its great that my dad likes their music, but at the same time, its annoying to me whenever he criticizes them; I can't help but to take it so personally... He thinks he knows them more than I do. I mean, I don't know everything about Muse of course, but you know what I mean. It bugs me when my dad's saying things like "Oh they're really arrogant and stubborn, I know how 'rock stars' are, believe me."
So all I do is show him the 'clean' side of Muse, and trying to show that Muse aren't ignorant, narrow-minded, with massive egos, only caring about themselves etc.

Sorry, I just started rambling..

1) never EVER be afraid or shy or conservative about the music you love. it's a passion, show it off. :] who cares what people will say/do/think. you like it, you enjoy it. the band consists of real people too - and you can't control what they say/do/think either.

swearing is overrated. almost (ALMOST.) everything is okay in moderation.

2) don't be afraid to buy things online, no matter where they're from. just MAKE SURE it is a reliable store or seller (check ratings and such) and all that. check eBay for a lot of rare Muse things, or European online stores like HMV, Virgin UK and Play.com.

To answer whoevers question it was I did infact use a credit card to order off of amazon.co.uk. It bills you in pounds but you get charged the equivalent in dollars. Overall with S&H it is about $30, but it is totally worth it.

I remember being so afraid of letting my parents hear cursing in music that I would censor myself from even listening to it. I actually found later that dads are typically very open to cursing... in fact, my dad expressed relief once my sister and I were adults that he could stop holding his tongue (my mom didn't think much of that idea though).

Chances are the music that your father listens to (or at least the stuff he listened to as a teenager) was peppered with the occasional swear word as well. I wouldn't censor your music for your parents. Chances are they know you're not a psycho, and they already know of the varied talents of Muse... a few swear words shouldn't change their opinion.

Um... they aren't uber-religious are they? If that's the case please ignore my post.

My parents like music like opera/classical/jazz, that kind of thing. I think my dad is more open to different kinds of genres than my mom, which is why he likes Muse and other bands my mom wouldn't like, but it doesn't mean he'll be fine listening to Crying Shame or "You Fucking Motherfucker"

My mom on the other hand is less... open to music. I was playing New Born in the car (it wasn't even loud, just sort of in the background) and after the piano intro ended and the guitar came in she just did this funny punching/slapping hand motion to the stereo and said,"CAN'T WE LISTEN TO SOMETHING LESS DEPRESSING AND MORE RELAXING?!" And if she gets into a hissy fit even if I say silly things like 'stupid' or 'duh', I don't want to know how she'll react to me saying 'damn it'.

I know my dad didn't listen to music involving swearing when he was younger. I can't imagine even if he did.

Opera? Full of sex and violence, that! I always thought my dad only listened to classical and jazz as well. Turns out he was a fan of Allman Brothers and Pink Floyd too. My your mom sounds a bit like mine though... she liked my music when I was in Junior High and listened to oldies and Enya *shudder*. I got an email from her the other day... she asked me if I'd heard the new Justin Timberlake. That was weird... she never did understand my musical tastes. Come to think of it, I was playing "Exit Music" on OK Computer, and my dad actually said something like "When these guys sing about something, why is it always depressing?" I wanted to say, "Have you listened to Dark Side Of The Moon lately?" I just said, "um... the next one's more upbeat..." :$

So um... keep playing the clean Muse songs for your dad. And get your mom Watermark by Enya for Christmas. It's great... if you like that sort of thing. And play "You Fucking Motherfucker" in your bedroom where they can't hear it... I guess there's some things parents are better off not knowing. ;)

my mother or father have never been fussed with language in music, swearing is nothing, theres bigger things for parents to get worked up about. i do remember once playing newborn in the car with my dad and he was loving the intro, then the guitar kicks in and he said 'well thats ruined!' tut tut, he dosnt have a clue :P but i think he has more respect these days as ive worked my arse off on guitar to play this stuff
