my ten year old sister and her friends are obsessed with him, she had to do an obituary at school today and said that she was married to bloomie's son and had three children by the names of arwen, eowyen and pippin. Yeah, it worked as a stand alone film anyway. Personally, I think as the first one as 'The Matrix', and totally disregard the other two. i mean, i know sequels arent usually up to the standard of the first movie, but the script of 'revelutions' was RUBBISH!
*ahem* "the war is over! the war is over! *shudder*

the story isn't too hard to understand but having to 'dig deep' into the morals and so on is going to get boring. i mean for lit we had to do 'girl with a pearl earring,' i loved the book but now we have to anaylze it and the characters and how it's set and it gets too boring and makes you lose interest in the story.

I'm sorry but that actually sounds like one of the things off the list of '10 greatest things you'd have to do for school'. I'd really enjoy that. Well, I'd watch it one and try and,as you said, 'dig deep'. I wouldn't watch it any more than twice, though.

That's a pretty awful example. I think films that are made out to be beautiful masterpieces and turn out to be pretentious pieces of bollucks are the ones that annoy me. But i don't come across too much of them, because films like that can touch many peoples hearts (as gay as that might sound). I also think films that are called brilliant that are trying to be too good are also awful. But the two i've said are very similar. LOTR wasn't made out to be great, it was made out to be a wonderful fantasy film, not a masterpiece that you'd go away thinking 'I want to see that again and again' or a film that you'd go away thinking about for the next week or so, and rightly so because it's not. It's one of those films that just blows over that you think is mediocre, crap or brilliant at the time. So I don't agree with it being one of the overhyped films of the last ten years... but that's just my opinion. And an unasked opinion, aswell. I will shut up.

yeah but i didn't really like it. it's one of those movies you either get or you don't. i don't think it features in the movie, just on the soundtrack and maybe end credits. but i may be wrong.
there is a funny quote from the movie though that makes me laugh :D

Did anyone catch the film 'Duel' the other night? It was Steven Spielberg's first film.
It has a simple story line but it is very exciting. It's basically about some guy who, for no apparent reason, is chased by this big truck which keeps trying to run him off the road!
trés bien in my opinion. worth a watch etc.

Sounds like some Radiohead's music video. :D
I saw Spielberg's "Eyes" very long time ago (when I was 8 or something? but I still remember some scenes very clearly). It was a short film about a blind man who got his sight for a second and after seeing only the sun and then got blind again. It was impressive though it was a short film.
I love Spielberg's earlier films very much, including "Eyes" and Close Encounters. I really want to watch Duel as well!!!
Sounds like some Radiohead's music video. :D

That film's just full of great moments. Richard Attenborough does a great turn in front of the camera too. The part when Charles Bronson confesses he's too scared to go into the tunnel stunned me first time round. And the bit where they're really proud about how they hide the dirt from the excavations in secret bags in their trousers, ready to be emptied in the exercise yard. Coolness.
