View Full Version : Antony & the Johnsons
*sings* I'm just a sweet transvestite in transssssssexual transylvaaania.
For those of you with Want Two teh Rufus Wainwright album, he's the incredibly camp voice on "Old Whore's Diet." He has such a fantastic and unusual voice and the album "I am a Bird Now" is so... pessimistically optimistic. Hope There's Someone is a brilliant song, and Rufus Wainwright appears on the album. Go forth, purchase because it's quite simply fabulous, dahling.

Probably. Not that I watched it..
Does anyone happen to know if there are spare tickets for the Manc gig floating about?

I heard him on Jools a while back, I was with my mate Becky, and after we saw it we were just silent for like 5 mins. We're both really happy that he's won :D.
The first album is sooo much better.

I had never heard of his stuff except for that feature on Rufus Wainwright's "Want Two" and the title "What can I do" that I had downloaded from the web...
Then, last November, I discovered him at a festival here in Lille where Arctic Monkeys, The Go Team!, and Devendra Barnhardt were also performing!
I just fell in love with his amazing voice! So delicate, so moving, so unusual...
Since then, I've bought both his albums and everytime he's on TV, I watch it!
My favourite song on his 1st album would have to be "Atrocities", and off his 2nd one, "Hope There's Someone"!:'(

Am I the only person that thinks the album that won the Merquery Prize is a bit shit and only really has one (Really really fucking) good song on it?

The Crying Light<3
The Crying Light is one of the best albums I've heard this year so far. <3
Want to see him live at some point. Possibly on my birthday (at the Hammersmith Apollo).

I can't say I'm big fan of the Crying Light, most of the songs bore me somehow, and I really want to like them as much as I like the songs on the other albums it just hasn't clicked (yet).
But...I just saw him in concert last week and that was one of the best live shows I've seen. the songs somehow work much better than on the album and the classics were even more amazing. Them Johnsons are some amazing musicians!

Wow I love Swanlights. Beautiful. Then again pretty much everything AH does is beautiful.
Ghost and Salt Silver Oxygen are incredible! Absolutely love The Spirit Was Gone, Swanlights and Thank You For Your Love.
God, I've wanted to see him live for so long....hopefully soon!
