this woman blows my mind.. when i heard that she'd covered smells like teen spirit, i thought that that must be one odd song. then i heard it...... and i tells you, that woman can cover any song by any artist, she's so skill!!
my fav albums of her must be boys for pele, and the scarlett's walk. but i think anything she does sounds amazing!!!

She's pretty damn cool as well. I like the fact that in conversation, she refers to her husband as... 'husband'.
i.e. "I was out with husband", "I leave my daughter at home with husband." etc.

She had a relationship with him, didn't she? Then he went out with Courtney Love, and that went badly. Then Tori wrote Professional Widow, which was apparently about Courtney Love.
Tori is brilliant though, and I'd love to see her live.

well i haven't heard that tori and trent have been envolved in that way
just that they made the song "past the mission"..... and ever since there have been odd connections.....
Tori sings on professional widow :"starfucker , just like my daddy......." - NiN song Starfuckers Inc.
and again on caught a lite sneeze :"..make my own pretty hate machine..." - NiN album Pretty Hate Machine
:D
ahh, the conspiracy ;)

Have you seen punked? With that little lad who goes to the read carpet and basically takes the piss outta all the celebs and gets them all mixed up?
Well she was got on that; He "thought" she was Tori Spelling, and kept asking her loads of stuff to do with Tori Spelling while she stood their trying to explain she was Tori Amos. It was quite amusing really :D

I have nothing against her music, but when i've seen her in interviews she's the biggets tit i have seen. Last one i saw she was staring of into space and talking really slowly. I could understand if she was stoned, but the shite she was comming out with was worse than a Britney Spears interview.

I haven't bought it yet, as from the tracks I've heard so far, I think it's quite a letdown. Kudos to her: she's settled down, and she's happy. However, her music was best when it was tortured and more self-exploratory. Now, it's merely meh.

Yes but she should also respect that people maybe commentating on the preformance or have a ligit reason to speak to their friend. Plus screaming just comes across as her not being able to get her way. I could understand if it was a small crowd, but i've seen her play to big crowds. So i basicaly just mean it's over the top on the basis of big crowds if thats is when she has done it.

I love Scarlet's Walk, it's long but it flows really well. It's one of my favorite albums by her, after Boys For Pele (my fave) and maybe From The Choirgirl Hotel.
Tori has her manias, I think it's a little weird this Me and a Gun thing but if you go to her concert you're not gonna die to keep in silence for a while, right? If she wants to create a fuss, just don't give her reasons ;)

slightly bemused
25-03-2004, 05:52 PM
well, considering you have to ask her and not me, she answers (you know, I gave her a little call :p ) :
"I'm referring to it more as a 'best-of' because I think to have a 'Greatest Hits' you need like ten Top Ten hits. This is more of a chronicle of what we know of Tori from 1990 to 2003...So it's from her perspective of the last many years, having traveled around the world and going through her own personal stuff. And the songs do that. Maybe it's the closest thing to an autobiography of this woman's life that there's ever been."
--Tori; Rollingstone.com 09/05/03
"It includes things like Precious Things and of course Silent All These Years, Cornflake Girl, Spark, songs that people might be familiar with on one level. And then there are quite a lot of songs that I felt gave you more story and a bit of sizzle with variations musically. It had to represent a whole musical spectrum because that's very much a part of the story. It's not just the ballads. It's not just what you heard on the radio."

That does make sense, what if people were just innocently talking. No need to scream and why should someone have to listen to someone sing about a rape. Like i say i can understand when it's a small audience, but not when you can't hear them, you just see them talking.

It is. Hence, she was extra-careful the last time she got pregnant... and now she has a little girl.
Fingerprints
26-03-2004, 10:41 PM
she's been sexually abused by a friend of the family when she was a child. Black dove is about the nightmares she has a result of that. And iieee is about after the misscarriages how she started to hallucinate about a small boy with whom she would try to save the world the world but they would always be too late at every town they get. That album(from the choirgirl hotel) was very self exploratory of her demons I believe....
Btw, she admits to being nuts and not doing a drug called Datura because that could push her over the edge and she doesn't want that....And she talks to her own self invented deities among others called Space Dog, hence the song...

I've seen Tori Amos live three times, and every time she has been so utterly amazing. The music is unbelievable. So, I don't know what all this nonsense is about her screaming and that, she has a good time onstage. But Me And A Gun isn't the easiest thing to hear live...
But she does seem totally crazy. When you read articles, she comes across as a nutter. But thats probably what makes her music so unique.
She scares me when she talks about faeries. And those pictures from pele of her breastfeeding the pig...

Have recently gotten a hold of her cover of Famous Blue Raincoat. It's utterly incredible. The woman is a goddess.
Tori and Muse are my favourite artists. I think both have a certain kind of ethereal quality to them at times, when they are at their very best. They are two live acts that I have seen and been utterly mesmerised by. But as well as that, they both rock.
I think she would be stunning to watch live, though i doubt to see that happpening anytime soon

I absolutely adore Tori. I believe Boys For Pele is one of the best albums ever written & is my favourite of them all. She's a very unique talent.
I also get very defensive when it comes to her. So when you say she "should be shot" i think that's a bit of a harsh reaction, don't you think? Sure you think she sounds weird because she speaks using alot of metaphors & has different opinions, but that doesn't make her 'demented' in any way. She's very intelligent.
Anyway, it's great to see there are so many Muse fans that like Tori!
If you want to see her little stint on punkd, its available at www.hereinmyhead.com
Just to be annoying, Professional Widow isn't about Courtney Love. But there was something going on between her & Trent for a little while.
Out of curiosity, where did you hear she screamed at people during Me & A Gun? I've never heard of her doing that. It's a very emotional [& confronting] song about her rape, & she often gets rude comments from the audience when eprforming it so, that could explain her getting angry at the crowd. *shrug*
Sorry for the long post & for bringing up an old thread. I'm new by the way so hi! :)

I don't know about MAAG, but I do know that awesome Gold Dust version where she says fuck you to the girl who screams for Silent All These Years.
I wouldn't doubt she'd make that - she really seems to take her music seriously. Nevertheless, it sounds a little out of proportion and I've never heard of it either. And I still think listening to her is the point of seeing her live, I can't see why people would go to her concert if they're not interested.

Oh dear, i forget the song name :( Anyway, she says, "wake up in Strawberry Fields everyday..". Theres some other stuff but i will leave it for the time ;)
Awhh! Tori!!!!!

Tori is great, I absolutely adore her music. For the last ten years she's the only artist that i didn't get tired from, and i don't think i ever will. She has an incredible voice that blows me away every time. And I'm going to see her next week! wait a sec, is it 9th already? Yohoo, 3 days left!
And as for the tickets, you should really buy them as soon as they go on sale. I waited two days only and they were gone! I couldn't believe they would sell out so quick. So I ended buying mine on ebay.
Cheers to you all

I loved it! To say that it was incredible means not to say anything, her voice just blew me away. It’s one thing to hear a beautiful singing on a radio but when you actually see her singing - no gimmicks, no editing, just an amazing voice and a piano, it fills the hall with something out of the ordinary. I was in the state of awe for the big part of my way back after the concert and i wasn‘t the only one. The majority of the people looked after the concert like they didn’t quite come down to earth yet. Or i might just imagined all this cause i never saw Tori or any other artist like her for that matter on a concert.
She sang many songs from the early albums, several from Boys for Pele and Sweet the Sting from the new one. I don’t remember the play list cause i didn’t know some of the songs, but it was a very long, and with 2 encores it came to an hour and 50 minutes! The Muse concert in Boston was one hour with 1 encore, btw.
There was some other guy opening for her whom i never heard of, whose guitar made my ears ring so quickly i wasn’t sure if being close to the stage, and to the speakers for that matter, was such a great idea. It definitely was! There was some girl who left short after the first encore and i took her seat - right in the front edge of our box. Man, you should really try and grab the tickets in the first rows, it makes such a difference! I looked at the people down in the orchestra section, everyone was standing trying to get a good view cause many people were glued to the stage. It was an old-fashioned theater and with all the seating arrangements before the show it looked kinda funny.
Anyway, loved the show. I’ll definitely see her again if i have a chance.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it!
And from what i remember, she sang Happy Phantom, Sweet the Sting, Goodbye Pisces, Little Amsterdam, Leather, Sweet Dreams (cover), China, Space Dog and Wednesday. This list's way too short, i guess that i didn't know about half of the songs but i'm sure there was nothing from "To Venus And Back" and "From The Choirgirl Hotel" albums. I have those two and i listened them too many times to forget the songs! :p

Five songs are under two minutes. It doesn't feel that long anyway. Fat Slut only is almost a minute long. Besides, the dvd version has a bonus track on the dvd: My Posse Can Do, sung by Santa. It's such a cute song. More bonus tracks via itunes and special download code, from barnes and noble, are Miracle and Drive All Night. They haven't stuck inside my head yet though.

It's my favourite tori album. It's amazing, give, strong black vine, curtain call, starling, ophelia and lady in blue are some of the best songs she has ever written.
It has two weak songs 6 amazing songs and 6 great songs and 3 good songs. In a whole it's her greatest work and the best album of the decade.
Placebo has their work cut out for them. But it's hard to see them top this

I love Tori's old stuff but recently her albums have just been toooooo long. Choirgirl was fantastic and IMO her last really great album but I don't understand why she can't just cut it down to a 12 to 13 track album. American Doll Posse could have been a GREAT album if there wasn't so much filler. With that said, I will listen to this and some of the reviews have given me some hope.

Now that I have given it the once over while laying bed I will give my final opinion.
But it's hard to see them top this
:stunned: I don't see how Placebo and Tori are in the same genre.
Call me sad but I was looking up muse songs on spotify because I was bored.
Typed in Bliss and her song came up. It was really good. What other songs might I like by her?
