Yeeeeah - I saw a 'secret' Graham Coxon gig before Christmas and it was indeed excellent! 'People Of The Earth' is fantastic!
Seen Bloc Party a couple of times too, and they are indeed great too!

Saw him at the XFM christmas gig thing, and People of the Earth is indeed a great (if slightly weird) song. Loving the new single too, will probably invest in the new album when it's released.

Probably actually.

The new album is fantastic anyway. I'd go as far as it's the best thing I've heard in the last ten years, or since Modern Life, whichever way you want to take it.

The highlight of my life? Quite possibly. (http://www.thisisfakediy.com/view.php?id=370)

I dont think I ever want to write another word again - nothing could top that.

I heard his new song last night, i need to give it another listen but it sounded great. Is the rest of the album as good as that track? If it is i'll defo have to get it. Wasn't going to bother cos his first album was a disapointment.

Yeah most of the tracks are like that I suppose? There are a few 'softer' ones, it's all good stuff.

Cheers, i thought i heard it was out already and so had a purpose to go in Uni tomorrow. I'll have to wait a month though, worth the wait hopefully...or it would be if the tracks on Kazaa weren't all 'More sources needed.'

Cheers for you kindness, but i don't have msn installed. And i don't want the full album cos i know i'll play it to death if i like it and get bored of it before i buy it. Just wanted Freakin out and few others as a taster. Kazaa for some reason has a mile long list but no one to connect to.

Yep... I'm currently trying to avoid playing it and The Fiery Furnaces' album too much. Hence I've been downloading far more tracks than my lil ol' laptop would like of late.

Hope you get your hands on a few tracks though!

Ah Mr Graham, he is quite fetching with his thick black glasses but there is one man whom wears the same fashion statement, that is Rivers Cuomo and he is the superior man when it comes to the black glasses. Someday I shall marry him in a field of daffodils and we shall have fantastic adventures.

Anywho so what has brought you to this facination of the music of Graham Coxon?

an old interview from total guitar

One UK guitarist he does have time for is Matt Bellamy of Muse. TG mentions we interviewed Matt recently who commented that he really liked Graham's playing. "Did he?" Graham sounds surprised. "That's nice. I saw him on Camden Parkway the other day and I was going to say 'hello' but I thought he'd probably tell me to f**k off."

i saw him play on a festival where i've been this week-end
and that gig was really marvellous.... he was sooooo nice... and seemed quite shy aswell, in a way...
there were loads of people watching even as it was quite early in the afternoon...

but the best thing was, later i was walking to another stage to watch franz ferdinand... and as i'm walking... there's suddendly three guys walking towards my direction... and it was no one else than Mr. Graham Coxon himself with his guitar and bass player !!!!!
i was so happy!!!! i even got my shoe signed!!!
and another guy recognised him aswell, but he nearly fainted!!! as he seemed to be an even bigger fan than me... graham was quite amused by that !!! :D

we didn't really "talk" that much...
was more like... "was an awesome show today, i really loved it", "yeah thanks" (other guy nearly fainting behind me) graham laughing at him, searching for bits of paper in his bag and writing autograms on them... and then me "hey, could you sign my shoe?" "your shoe?" strange look (but what a look!!!) from graham... then he hold his hand like waist high and wanted me to put my foot that high... and i managed to... but then he laughed and said "no, come on, just kidding" and then put my foot back on the ground and signed it there... well then they walked on... i walked on, like floating some inches over the ground... :D :D

but hey, graham was there, watching franz... i think that's funny, but they were leaving...perhaps he didn't like it... i don't care...

it's already haunting me,see... i bought the ticket, because i was scared it would be sold out soon, as the venue where he's playing isn't really big... and now... as i also bought 2 tickets for others concerts which are this month..i've hardly enough money left to buy other stuff...like food or whatever... i've got 10 € left for this month!!!! but i'm not starving... :D

somehow it's really not fair he doesn't come to Australia...but you never know...perhaps he's just starting his gigantic world tour!!
but if i have the chance to talk to him...perhaps he'll come and talk to the people after the concert...what i doubt, as he's more a shy guy...but if i have the chance...i'll ask him if he has planned to go to australia...and if not...well, he'll get something to hear from me!!!!haha

hahah, yes make sure you talk to him about that! and make sure it won't be at an over18 venue otherwise that would hurt me even more. him being in the country and me not getting to see him scenario....

you got gigs on one hand and food for survival on the other hand. i think you made a wise choice, choosing the gigs instead! you might need to get another job to support you soon....hahaha

how big is the venue?

musefreak
21-09-2004, 02:00 PM
ooohhh... that would be really cruel....him coming over and you not coming in...
but you could try and sneak in...dunno...fake ID....high heels??? :D

i'm so happy something like that doesn't exist over here...even if i'm not concerned anymore ;)

i also need gigs to survive....as well as food...
and even with food... i have to buy some stuff later today..and i'm thinking about not buying milk...but chocolate...
i just can't have a job beside uni...i mean...right now i have nothing to do...but when uni will start, i don't think i'll have time to work...
and then, i hope i'll get my financial support for students...form the state soon...then i'll be fine!!!

the venue isn't really big...perhaps...about 400-700 people going in...dunno...i'm really bad at those estimations... it's where muse had their fan-gig last september... and where i couldn#t go...cause back then...i was living 500 km away... and i still regret that i didn't go...

but hey...i'll see graham!!! (sorry) :D

hahaha that was loooooooooow, no need to apologise.....i think.... just makes sure he hears that a girl in oz believes he should really come and perform.....and make sure he understands the message, use a knife if need be. :D
a fan base gig? what's that mean? is it a gig espcially for fans?
i still cannot believe there are no age restrictions over in germany. that is so unfair, what's wrong with this country then!!

and hey, chocolate is better than milk. chocolate can help people survive in near death situations. i can't take milk so i wouldn't have a hard choice in that department.

yeah... i'll take my big kitchen knife... but then, the securitys won't probably let me in... got to hide it in my shoes!!
where in australia do you live?? so i can make my request a bit more elaborated...

these age restrictions are really stupid!!! i mean, for what do you have parents then?? :D there are no age restrictions over here, it's always been my parents who didn't allow me to go to concerts...

well, last year, muse did a few gigs before absolution was realeased... just one city per country...so it was a gig in london, one in paris, one in amsterdam and one in cologne...don't remember where else... and they were in really small clubs, you couldn't buy tickets... half of the tickets got out through competitions... and the rest of the tickest, well you had to queue in front of the club to get in, and hope they'd you in...
so it was like nearly pure "fan-gigs"...

oh my, that sounds cool! it's like those money can't buy gigs, except on ebay proably  god, i wish they would do those things over here! damn, those european countries with their smart ideas! franz even organized a gig for under18s!!! UNDER! in their hometown of glasgow, you can't go as an adult, if you're over 18, you must have a child with you and if you're under 14, you have to have an adult but only two adults per child. it sounds confusing, but damn it. i wish i lived in SCOTLAND for that kind of special treatment! except, franz's lyrics are quite ahem, sexual, so i don't know how that will go down with the little fans.

yes! do that!!!
and i'm like travelling around whole europe to go to every single gig!!!
but i doubt something like that would still be possible...
with this huge popularity they've got over here now... the people would kill each other to get in...or sleep in front of the club days before the gigs take place...

sexual education with franz. mmmm.....sounds like a good school day! :D

oh yes! i'd go back to school for that!!!

four times? i've seen them :$ once

i used to live in london, only for a few years, but they'll definitely have more gigs than over here! and if i get into uni, my family is paying for my air ticket, and over in london i can stay with relatives, so all my money will go to ticket buying!!! that reminds me, i should get a job sometime soon.

ah, but you've seen them at all...
a friend of mine who's also quite a big muse fan couldn't go with me to the gig in october cause just a week before the concert was...she already had a ticket...the classic....she broke her leg...and had to be in hospital...i went there with some friends, and during the concert, we kept calling her so she could hear biots of the concert...

and i only have seen them that often cause i worked a lot in july, so i was able to go to those 2 gigs this summer..which took away loads of money, as the gigs weren't really near to where i was living...
the first time... i drove like over 500 km, the second time like 600 km... and the train was always sooo expensive...that i'm totally broke now... but they were worth the money!!!

i hope to get to london soon...perhaps i'll go there next spring... if i have the damn money!! but there are cheap tickets from here..

he played the first song with them on...and then placed them on a towel on an amp...
you can see it on the pics i've taken during the gig...
wait, i'll search them quick and then post them!

still on...

and now you cann see them lying on the amp just at his right...

and you see the note stand (or whatever you call it in english)... i wonder what was written on these sheets of paper...
a roadie came on stage several times to tore down one page so graham could see the next... i wonder, i wonder...

another thing i'll ask him...

itstentotwelve
27-09-2004, 12:48 PM
o good pictures!!! so very close! i love his stripy shirt and how the band wears it too! ooooooo, i want to see him so much now! damn you girl, damn you! :indiff: :p

does he sing lots of the new songs or a mixture of songs from his old albums?

musefreak
27-09-2004, 12:56 PM
yes...so close...nearly front row... :p :D

err... well, i not very familiar with the old albums...

but it was mostly new songs he was singing at that show...
but that could be different at the club gig...

and of course no blur...what was obvious!!!

hehe, that reminds me of that guy standing next to me asking his friend
"do you think it would piss him off if we shout 'bluuur!!!'??" and i told him to shut up and that he souldn't drae to shout it, cause i can imagine how much that would piss him off... i'm glad that after i neraly shouted at him...he didn't yell "blur"...

hahaha,m yes ive heard reviews where some idiots have screamed out, 'coffee and tv,' or 'parklife.' he would get pissed off, i would have to.
i'm not so familiar with his older albums either. :( this was at a festival, right?

musefreak
27-09-2004, 01:21 PM
yeah... that's why i was so angry... i was even scared that if they would have shouted he would cancel the gig or whatever... imagine the horror!!!

yes...it was at a festival...the southside festival...best in the world to me!!! i love it there...can't wait for next year!!! :D i think i'd go there even if there were only crap bands... but i don't think that will happen...
but for next year i'd like some bands that i don't like...cause this year's line-up was sooo good that i missed loads of great bands... and i was at the stages the whole day!!!
that happens when you like so many different types of music...like me...

Certainly far superior to Blur's recent work and anything Albarn has done.

That said, I'd love him to be back with Blur and see them make a great comeback.

I've had his latest two solo albums for ages now, and I'm just stunned by how good they are!

I'm really quite glad Blur aren't getting back together, Coxon's current output will top anything Albarn manages to pull out.

Anyone who hasn't heard much Coxon goodness, it's basically very catchy, upbeat, rock with a slightly punky/poppish element - just really good fun music in other words.

Acquire these...

- Spectacular
- Bittersweet Bundle Of Misery
- Freakin' Out
- Standing On My Own Again
- I Can't Look At Your Skin
- You & I
- What's He Got?

Brightens up my day .

November - Beautiful, but bit haunting, isn't it? Just like November.

Now I got all Blur albums. Wonder how I hear Coxon as a part.
Apparently he's playing live with/as Blur this weekend. I wonder if I can catch it on the web ...
