Accelerated Evolution is probably my favorite album of his, from any of his projects. It is great, start to finish, and pretty progressive as well.

To be honest, I don't I would mind much if he didn't do any more SYL or DTB. His solo stuff has probably been my favourite of the stuff he's done, along with the DTB stuff (which I think are somewhat simliar), and I've only ever liked a few select SYL songs.

If the stuff I've heard from Ziltoid is any indication, he is plenty capable of doing awesome stuff by himself. :)

never believed this when it was originally posted tbh - just because Devin says he's quitting everything every three months or so - but devin's now confirmed that he's just taking a little time off. this on his message board...

It is SO good. I can only imagine if the music had been his sole focus for the album how good it would have been, but it's still amazing. The stretch from By Your Command to the end of Hyperdrive is possibly the best thing Devy's ever done - just SO good.

An Appetizer, 2 meals and a desert.

Ki is the appetizer...heavy chill. I start the next one the day after...then the next will be the symphony, then an ambient album.

mmmm...

Tentatively, Ki is the mellow-ish intro to the story (a very pointed theme though, it's unnerving)
Addicted is the next one, heavy, fun and dance-y ...I like good choruses and dancing.
Deconstruction is a treat for the syl and ziltoid fans...(and then some...damn...it's fucking nuts.)
The ambient album, (sand theme) will close it off.

All under dtp

Ki is pretty much done. Going away to do addicted...(Nepal?) Deconstruction is done, just needs the orchestra. Ambient will be a collection of improv.

Then I'm going on vacation.

Ki is terrific, VERY different for me, pretty organic, warts and all, some songs are 'live off the floor' very minimal editing overall. It's rainy and messy and heavy and peaceful and maybe needs a listen or two till you 'll accept it.

I can sleep to it, but when you pay attention it's jam packed.

I'll give you a taste soon.

If you want crazy start with SYL.
"City" is their best album in the opinion of most people, but "Alien" is pretty good too. I only got into SYL when the "Chaos Years" compilation came out last year, so maybe get that first. :)
Regarding Devin's solo stuff, my faviourite album is "Terria". Followed by "Ocean Machine:Biomech", "Accelerated Evolution" & "Synchestra".
"Infinity" is great too, although in my opinion a tad over-rated by some.

Saw DTP tonight like, and it blew my BRAINS OFF YES. Loads of Ziltoid and loads of DTB as well. :happy: Didn't stop dancing and singing along, unf unf unf unf unf. Hilarious and entertaining as ever, and he ended with Deep Peace and I nearly exploded with joy.

Oh man the waiting outside bit PISSED ME OFF SO MUCH. Never again am I getting there when they say the doors open. Grrr. I don't know why I got there for 7 tonight in fact, I don't normally get to gigs till later on! I didn't bring a coat tonight either because I was driving and I fully expected to nip straight in from the car. So I was WELL pissed off. I managed to persuade my mates to leave the queue and go for a pint while we were waiting, then when we got back the queue had gone... yay. But then I had to collect our flaming tickets from the box office, and the queue there was still flaming long, because they hadn't even started letting people in :mad:, and it was now 8pm, and then they insisted on checking every loser's ID... AAARGH IT WAS JUST RIDICULOUS. When I got to the door the bouncer asked me for ID, and I said, 'No, I haven't got any ID. But I'm not here to drink, so I don't want a wristband thanks. I'm actually here to collect tickets so I can see a band. I didn't think that the ticket collection queue would be the same queue as the flippin' bar queue.' Then he pointed at my head and said to the wristband lady, 'No wristband.' I said to the wristband lady, 'I'm driving anyway. I just want to collect my tickets and see the damn gig, even though I'm 30 this year, thanks anyway.' I think I made it very clear that I was unimpressed. We're paying customers, don't treat us like cattle. Effing shambles. And when we finally got in at 8:45 we'd missed the support. There was a sign up saying they'd shut the bar to the students at 6pm ready for us lot. So what the blue flip were they doing in there for 2 hours?! I think I will be writing a letter of complaint, especially if I get a cold. :mad: C-NUTS.

But it was all worth it, totally. :D

The funniest thing was, I didn't go to the bar all night anyway; Anna got my drinks for me (diet cokes), so nobody would've even known if I'd had a bloody wristband on or not. :LOL: Losers. Utter losers.
