But, yes! Let's hope they'll go to Korea someday :)

AmiHaraguchi,
Let's see, Siitake mushrooms, Enoki mushrooms and Matsu-take mushrooms....sure we have a lot of them. Does Muse dig hot-pots? :p

Hi, dan_kawaguchi
I've been wondering if you were Japanese!
I've never seen Muse in Japan, either. I hope you'll see them there soon!
Spain is my dream place for me BTW, I wish I can visit someday. :)

 Yes,when I post in foreign messages boards, everyone thinks I'm Japanese, and, well,I think there is a little Japanese inside me(and spending all my money on manga and anime  ).My nick is Dan from Daniel(my real name)and Kawaguchi because I like this surname  ,and I think it was a goalkeeper from the Japan team(people told me).I love Japanese culture,too...I have to see those beautiful "sakura" trees with my own eyes...See the Hachiko's dog...Visit Shibuya,Akihabara...The Tokyo tower...the Hajime Castle...Aaaaaah,how great would it be to travel from Hokkaido to Kyushu by foot...exhausting but really wonderful  .

Well,last two years,Muse have came three times,and I couldn't go to anyone...Maybe I'm damned :'( ...

Do you like Spain?Well,then...how about an exchange? It's sure my family would accept...to get rid of me  .But don't come now,it's snowing an awful lot, something worse than the Ice Festival in Sapporo  .

Siitake Mushrooms...I have to try them...and sukiyaki too :p .

Wow, you know a lot more about Japan than me! I've never seen the Hachiko dog nor Akibahara (I lived near Himeji catsle). Can't you see cherry blossoms in Spain? A park in Toronto (Canada, where I live) has a cherry tree area which were a gift from Japan many years ago. But it blossoms only 50% and falls cuz it's freezing here!

Exchange? I wish! But I'm in Canada, where the winter is worse than Sappolo. :( Everyone around me who's been Spain told me good things about. Some of them never wanted to leave. I don't think it's hard to find a Japanese there, and offer him/her an exchange.

I realized Japanese loves Muse a lot and so as they (they took time showing gigs in Japan in one of their DVDs!) :D Too bad most of them are not able to join this forum (language prob to resister). :(

dan_kawaguchi

Oh,so you live in Canada...Not so fascinating as Japan to me,really, but it has to be a nice place after all, cold but nice  .Then, come to Spain, today is a sunny day,I think it's hotter than Canada  .

Well, there are cherry trees around here but they are NOT as beautiful as these...

http://perso.wanadoo.es/lessman/sakura/sakura.html
http://perso.wanadoo.es/lessman/sakura/sakura2.html
http://perso.wanadoo.es/lessman/sakura/sakura3.html

But I have to admitt that once, while I was walking by the street in a very windy day, there were a lot of cherry blossoms falling(although there aren't many trees there)and it was really beautiful(I thought I was in manga by CLAMP  ).But nothing compares to "The real cherry blossoms experience by Japan" .

I live in Madrid(well,in Alcorcón,a place nearby Madrid, but I go to the university five times a week and saturdays I go out with my friends there)and, actually, most of the japanese people I see are tourist ^^U.The city in Spain where there are an awful lot of japanese people(mainly students)is Salamanca, because there is a "friends club" of Japan there, sponsored by the Royal Family of Japan,so they make a lot of exchanges.Sooo,I think I have to go there for a exchange  .

Yesss,I realize Muse love Japan, actually,in the japanese edition of Absolution there's a bonustrack...I'm so jealous! .And in the DVD that was included in the limited edition of Absolution(I have it this time  ),they appear speaking and playing in the Fuji Rock Festival,I think...

How strange!We keep this thread alive but you're japanese,of course,but living in Canada,and I'm a spaniard.Are japanese people so shy?I don't think so  .

Hi,Rainbow,AmiHaraguchi,dan_kawaguchi :)

Rainbow

<translation> You may improve your English just by joining this forum. I post sometimetimes, with my not-very-good English. I think many of the members are not native Enlish speakers, either. How was Muse gig in Osaka? Matt loves Japan, doesn't he? I wish I could see them there...

I got to know Muse, because one of my friends introduced me some CDs and a DVD. He thought I'd like Muse since I used to be a Queen fan. They didn't impress me much (what was I thinking?), but I went to a gig in Toronto, then really got into it!! Since then, I'm a 24/7 Muser. I saw them close at an autograph session, too. Matt was a nice guy.

I wish to see them soon, again!!

Yeah,Rainbow,I know Japanese is hard to write, some friends of mine are trying to learn and it's difficult as hell XD.But I like it,so it's a point in its favour :D .Anyway, some time ago,I learned how to introduce myself...I don't remember very well...I think it is "watashi no namae wa Daniel desu" or something like that...So young and so forgetable... .Yes,I know cherry trees are going to bloom in April,I really would like to see it,and all the ceremonies and the like...Actually,travels to Japan are more expensive in this time of the year :'( .

Well,I became a Muser in January,2004.I had listened to some songs by Muse before(the first one was Muscle Museum,I think)and I like it very, very much(Plug In Baby was,simply...I can't explain  ),so my parents bought me Absolution in Xmas(well,in the Three Wise Men Day,I don't know if you know about this Spanish festivity). The fact is I was listening the CD everyday  .Two months later,I bought Showbiz and Origin of Symmetry...And,so far,Muse is my favourite group by far...I truely love them :$ .

And...I want to see Matt, too :'( !And Chris and Dom,of course  .

Hi Rainbow and dan.

Rainbow

dan,
How nice!My parents never bought me CDs
I became a Muse fan since I watched T.I.R.O. video.Maybe It was in the fall before last.(And three months later, they came to Japan for gigs! Of course,I went.I'm LUCKY :p )But I already have watched Hyper Music video before watch T.I.R.O. video .At that time,I'm not so interested in them ....I don't know why

OK, I can't write anymore in English this time

And I'm glad to here that you like Japan.

see ya

yea, I am going on vacation for 2 weeks, with my sister
so far I only made reservations for the first 5 days in Tokyo, not sure where I (we) want to go next

If I don't meet anybody virtually, I have a Tshirt with Muse in Japanese on it, so may be we'll meet someone there? My Japanese is barely basic.

hey Rainbow, you mentioned that you go to the Japanese fan site, which one is that? I found one but everything is in Japanese

I don't know Tokyo very much (i'm from Kobe, close to Osaka), but I'm sure lots of places to see. Downtown will be probably shopping heaven, or Akibahara is known for a town of electiric warehouse. Tsukiji, might be fun to see morning fish market (apparently it's huge), or if you travel a little, you can go to Nikko to see temples. :) Beaware of the hotness in the summer. It's incredible.

Japanese site is this one
Spiral Static (http://www4.plala.or.jp/setsula/) But yes, it's written in Japanese.

Wearing Muse T-shirt is a good idea, don't worry about your Japanese.
Some people are fun enough to not to worry about language. :)

I booked the hostel in Tokyo only about $27 per person per night
and then we decided to go to Hakone national park and see the Fudzjiyama
and we are going to stay in a rayokan (sort of of a traditional B&B), and then we decided to go to Kyoto for several days. I am loving it alredy.

That's sounds fabulous! :)

Did you get a JR pass? You can travel cheaper with it, but you have to get it before you go.

I love ryokans-usually their breakfast is good (for me, anyways). Don't forget to bring a portable umbrella (rain can be heavy) and slippers for temples if you have big feet. They provide you and if you don't wear them, they'll consider you as a 'rude' person (especiall if you are barefoot). Even worse, one temple had a sign, "No Jeans Please", but this is a extreme case.

I have lots of suggestions to make if you ask me. :D

Dan: What is "Shiny's Gang"? I saw it in someone else's sig, and AC has it on his avatar, too.

What would you want to do /where would you like to go, if you go to Japan, Dan and lottie?

I like hanging out in variety stores. Their dessert items (pudding, cheesecake etc.) are inexpensive and good. Sushi is not bad, either. For a city, I love Kyoto. But it's very big and the heat in the summer is notorious!

The most memorable place for me was Koyasan (wakayama pref.)........ the mountain has been a sacred place for more than 1000 years, and the peaks are surround by dozens of ancient temples. I stayed in a temple one night and experienced a life in a temple bliefly. The food which cooked by monks were amazing, too.Nah,some nonsense, like everything around here lately  . nonsense, huh? I'm loving it, Dan. I think i've drowned myself :fro: I visit Love Boat more often than Main Muse, lately.

Well,I said once that I really would like to travel from Kyuushu to Hokkaido by foot...So,imagine!I would like to do everything I coul, really. From visiting Akihabara to visiting Koyasan.Because I really love Japan.I think I said in this thread some things I would like to do...

See?I would like to do so many things I wouldn't know what to do!And if you told me about desserts...aaaargh,I love them!Travel to Japan...the perfect travel! And I think I would resist Kyoto's heat...After all, today's is 40ºC in Spain  .

I mainly post in the Spanish thread,in this one and in The Love Boat ones because I have no time for more :'( .

dan, you should come here with 30-or-more degrees Celcius, the heat here is different than in spain :indiff: ...has something to do with moist or something in the air...here it's as if it's going to thunder, kinda pressing, y'know? but then all day (and night)...

Shopping and the temples...Kyoto is your place, lottie. :)
It's a big city, with big department stores, small traditional craft stores, neat restaurants and cafes, and old temples etc...
And you DON'T suck, it's actually amazing you know that much.

I saw your posts in many more threads, Dan! You've been busy, eh? :)
40C sounds incredibly hot, considering asphyxiation=a sexy lady, it's quite understandable.

Walking from Hokkaido to Kyushu sounds impossible! My brother biked 2/3, took 2weeks or something. It's not a big country but veeeeery long and lots of mountains (covers 70% of the country). It'd be fun, but you'll need a year. :fro:

My city (Kobe) had a huge earthquake about 10 yrs ago. I was in Canada, but my mum told me it was more like a 'bomb' rather than a 'shake'. The whole city collapesed (many places burnt), highway and everything ...if I was there, I'm probably dead. :stunned: The scary thing is, there's no way to avoid it.

ok guys, since your are into/from Japan
have you seen this movie "After Life" - it's my favourite movie of all times, it's Japanese and it uses regular people, not actors for the interviews

I also especially liked Japanese original (edit)The Ring, it was so scarry I could not finish watching it in one day, and the second day I was watchining it with my daughter's babytsitter and we ended up hiding under a blanket hugging each other, we were so terrified. I am sure there are many more Japanese movies I am not aware of, but I just love the intensity of feelings expressed with so few emotions visually. Another good one I loved is "Frozen" where a guy was making artistic statement by using forces of nature and eventually froze himself to death (or did he?)

just so you know, I am origianally from Russia, we've got quite an international Japanese club in this thread

Yep,I heard that too,the end is very very depressing. You have to be the one who knows better about it,because you are the only Japanese here.Another very depressing fact is the high suicide rate there.Maybe there are some connection between those two things.Nobody knows you.You are alone. There is a huge pressure about work and competence...

Hyper: Yes, 'Nobody Knows (Dare mo Shiranai)' is directed by Koreeda, as Dan said.
Let's sing to avoid the sadness!Ha ha, Dan (you'll read this in September, I guess?) , I don’t mean to make this thread depressing, but it is a part of Japanese culture as Hyper said. In fact Japanese love the sadness, you probably hear it in J-pop melodies.

Japan was No. 1 in economy in the 80s (call it 'bubble'). Japanese became highly materialistic and spoiled at the time. I think money made people cold as well -‘ No-interests, No-emotion and No-spirit’-was a phenomenon.

This still remains in the culture, which is well presented in ‘Nobody Knows’. Nobody wants to get involved with you-like my friend passed out on the platform during the busy morning rushhour-she woke up few minute later, realized no one helped her. Last time I went back, I had hard time carrying my suitcase down the stairs. As I knew no one was going to help me, I had to bug people, and they helped me unpleasantly. They are generally nicer to the Westerners, but don’t be surprised if you get no help – especially in a big city.

High suicide rate-the economy is bad in Japan now, but people have been saving. As a result, unemployed people (mainly 18-40yrs old) stay home and do nothing. Their parent pays the fee from their savings. No wonder they are depressed.

Sorry, but this is the dark side of Japan. I still feel depressed when I go back. Maybe the combination of florescent lights, concrete and the lack of space. No place to rest without spending money. And everything is expensive!

For the sake of Japanese, I have to tell you good things, too -they are generally kind once you get to know. They are just a little afraid, but serious, hardworking and honest people. :)

I don't know much about Nagoya (read: nothing) but I buy my english magazines at tower records or a large international bookstore. Those are hard to find though and horribly expensive. I don't know much about Nagoya (read: nothing) but I buy my english magazines at tower records or a large international bookstore. Those are hard to find though and horribly expensive. dunno why imported magazines are so expensive. Imported cd's are very cheap, so it makes no sense. I dunno bout any websites that specifically show which bands are coming to Japan, but keeping an eye on the website of the band you would like to see is never a wrong idea. There's also a lot of info on concerts in every cd store, though that is mainly from national artists. Western music simply isn't so popular....

sounds like you are a native Japanese now! Will you feel sorry when you have to leave?
My parents and grandparents went Japan not so long ago.the only word they could is"clean".Even the roof of the house.
I really hope that the ppl in our country could make a good study of the experience of holding a concert in Japan from the Japanese...I'm extremely hoping that..so that i could go to see more bands doing Lives without going aboard!(Truth is i never been aboard* :'( *)

no idea. You're a bit crappy in your timing, festival season just ended. Summersonic was very good from what I've heard.
I just remembered, I have to watch BS172 this friday... They're broadcasting glastonbury 2004 at 22.00. It was also broadcasted last week, but I didn't know, so I missed muse
Tokyo isn't dirty in the way that my city in Holland was. It's polluted for sure, The air is in some areas really bad (busy road near my school... whenever I cross it I feel a year of my life slipping away...), but the streets are remarkable clean. So are the trains and subways. That really surprised me from a city where 11 million people live....

going back to Holland will be difficult in some ways. I'll really miss the food! But on the other hand, I haven't seen my family and friends for over 6 months. That is starting to get to me. But I'll just enjoy the time I have here. a bit les than 4 months to go!

wow! thanks about the information about glastonbury! ishall definately be watching that! god where do ppl gain these information??? it must be just me...yes i heard the sonic festival was good but i only came here end of august.... shame but GOD FESTIVALS here aRE SOO EXPENSIVE the ones in belgium (where i use to live) is sooo much cheaper! Werchter which was 4 days with AMAZING BANDS was only about 17000 yen (120 euros however much that is) for combo ticket.

oh wait, you're from belgium? French or dutch side? I'm from Holland, that couls make this conversation a lot easier...
How I know about glastonbury? My hostdad zapped past it, so I yelled 'マッテ!マッテ!この バンド 大好き!’ but that was just the end of muse's performance, but then they announced that they would rerun it next friday (because of the holiday and all) soo..... I7m stuck in front of the telly then, I'm telling ya!

The fashion show was pretty cool. Everything went well and I'm the celebrity of the school right now  I've got some pictures on my photobucket. I'll give you the link later if you want. The taxi's are indeed cute and really comfy too! Just too bad that they're incredibly expensive :indiff: With public transportation hell I mean how horribly busy those trains can be. I take the chuo (=central) line everyday and well, together with the Yamanote line it is the busiest train in Tokyo. And with that probably the world :fro: It goes from the suburbs to the city centre and is always full. Or at least it is in the morning, the afternoons are pretty ok. The picture in my sig is how my train looks like at my station. At the next there are about 10 more people that want to get in and at the station after that some people might have to wait for the next train because even the pushers are just unable to get everyone in. I'm still able to see the fun in it though. It's just ridiculous

People here hardly speak English and if they do they're mostly so insecure about it that they still keep their mouth shut. However, If you ask them something they'll do everything to help you. e-dictionaries come out of nowhere and other people are stopped in the street if that is what it takes to help you. sekizui (or how the fuck it is written, I'm lost) is pretty good. Personaly I'm not a J rock/J pop fan. On the contrary. I detest orange range, but if you like that you might want to try rip slyme. oh, and ofcourse the ultimate sell out: SMAP. Their tv show is more popular than their music :stunned:

if i go to japan i'll stay there for 1-3 months or so. So if i don't like it where I am i'll just go to another town/city. :p

ps. I only like some of the orange range songs. I like twister. But I realy hate some of their songs (especialy the Naruto soundtrack a while ago)

I'm not from japan but i realy like the country. Probably go there this summer vacation.
I listen many j-rock j-pop
@ the moment i listen to:

high & mighty color
dir & grey
orange range
shiro sagisu
Kitaro
and many more.

I got most names from the internet but maybe some of you can give me some good j-rock band-names?

thanks in advance ;)

Mmmmmm,Dir en Grey and Shiro Sagisu are really good :D .I recommend you The Pillows,L'Arc-en-Ciel and Ringo Shiina, they are fucking good! And Yoko Kanno is the best compositor nowadays.

They even broadcast it in the netherlands nowadays.

I have no clue, cuz I hate J pop  Can't help you there. Can't find any SMAP? they're insanely popular here... Should be fairly easy to find.
Ai is quite popular right now too. So is that girl that sang the nana soundtrack, but I don't remember her name (good song though, even I'd admit that) Just keep searching. And maybe look for a J-pop forum. There you should be able to find what you're looking for, no?

About every artist or band that makes decent music releases special editions and bonus tracks in Japan. I'm going home with a shitload of CD's tomorrow

There are many special editions in Japan because the prize of the CD's there is bigger than here, soooo the bands have to include some plus.Appart from that, the albums are often published there later than the rest of the world.

I've had spanish lessons for 3 years. I wouldn't even know how to greet someone properly :( That's a hopeless case...

on another note, I've got this J-pop song on my mp3 player. It was quite popular when I was there, but I only know the titel, not the artist. Can any of you help me with that? Titel: new world. I must know it, but I cóuldn't remember it to save my life :afro:

I thought I'd revive this thread, but realised didn't need to ... nice. Japan is going to have another cherry blossom season in two weeks, and I'm missing it another year. :( *sobs*

Meanwhile, Muse is going there this summer ... my frends are saying "they will die if it's an outdoor concert". I wonder if they know the heat and the humidity. :stunned: Jee, I even miss that ...

We have cherry trees (given from Japan) in Canada, but they bloom in May, and because it's cold, only 30% flowers ... it's kind of sad. :(I've never really seen cherry blossoms :stunned: ..though from what I saw from movies and pictures, it's gorgeous :D Here's another one.

I ratjer enjoy watching the local blooms without a crowd, but at famous places, people sit under the trees and have parties. Cherry blossoms are easy to be blown by the wind, so usually only 1-2 days to do it. Japanese loves because its short and fragile life. I've never been in Japan, so I can't really say I miss it, but I still really want to go there :(You will, if you really want to! Once you start to work and earn, it won't take so long till you save to buy a ticket. :)

Flights from holland to japan are sooo incredibly expensive. I'd have to get creative and try to get as many stops and transfers in as possible to keep it affordable

you can download a software which can convert our romaji to hiragana and katakana as well, on www.njstar.com
it suited me perfectly, the only problem is that you need to do a lot of copy/pasting if you wanna chat in japanese for example xD
