Disapointing as expected. Was abit over the top and dragged out at an hour 20ish mins. Loved the first series though and the second one should be good, needs new characters though. 'Early Doors' is even more spot on for Manchester, probably even better than Royal Family.

Apart from the christmas special, is the episode where Frank has to fake his death, the last one in the first series? And if so, has there only been one series so far?

I love the show. But i need to know this.

Aye i thought that too. Thought at first he just did it to keep things sweet s he could stay in the house for free. But the longer it went on it looked like he meant it.

Dunno why the writer put too good plots in one episode for next week, but should be double the fun next week.

Yep his character did have a tendancy to be constantly about him being caught nicking cars and how he managed to get out of it once again or another secret from his past being exposed. Don't think he was a terrible character though. Just featured to much in the story line all at once.

Did Frank have one liners in the first series? I can't remember but every episode in the second seems to have one. Last week for me was "Where's your mummer gone? Where's your mummer gone?" There was a quality one the week before that when his baby went missing but can't remember it.

Yep thats the impression i got as to why they did it as well. Seemed week though to be written like that, but i always think that in any series which will keep characters out of the frame for a few episodes, then they'll be in everyone after that. But over all tis a great series. If i remember correctly we still got another six episodes to go.

I hope the guy who does Frank does more films. He was one of the highlights of Master and Commander even when all he did was mumble.

Frank's monologue in the second episode of series one, has some of the funniest dialogue ever! When he's wandering round the city talking to himself!

 Quality!

"6 fucking kids"...."always fucking getting rounds in"...."and does anyone ever get me one"..."what do I get"..."Fuck all".

And in the first series when he's dressed up as a woman, and hides in the stock room of 'Cash and Carry' to find Kash's wife looking at a gay magazine: "Is anyone around here normal?"

I dunno, maybe a guest appearance, but they're definitely not coming back as regulars from what I've heard/read, which is a shame as their plotlines were what drove the show really. Although it may be good to see other characters in the "spotlight" for once...

I don't know if there's going to be anywhere near as much flow without them. I mean, Black Books and Teachers both get axed, and I'm guessing it's because this is sort of replacing them along with that Sugar Rush show which has been renewed, and they get rid (well, they chose to leave) of two of the main characters from it? If they chose to leave, what can you do? :S

Bring back black books and teachers! I'm just very bitter that they both never got to finish up properly. not many channel 4 shows do.

I didn't think so. I thought the 3rd series was quite good. Maybe it was for the best. End it on a higher note. But still.. just one more series would have been nice.

It was Dylan Moran that chose to end Black Books though, he gave hints at it during stand-up shows and things - he thought the series had run its natural course.

Agreed on Teachers though, there was no need to axe that.

Having a new focus on Shameless will allow them to develop other characters... look on the positive side?

Really? Didn't know that. 18 episodes definitely wasn't enough for me.

I'm not being negative or anything, I just think that when main characters leave, the show always suffers. Except Teachers, actually. Em yeah, so maybe it'll be good.

Yeah, he wanted more free time to write a novel, he's stopped doing stand-up for the forseeable future as well. The man himself lives a street away from a friend of mine though, I once saw him while we were out walking her dog...

We can but hope.

I really hate channel 4, sometimes.
They both got axed? Shit!

I reckon she's referring to Fiona.. Meaning Steve. :stunned:

I can't say I've ever seen the resemblence myself :erm:

And to Jazzlady, yeah - they definitely have, sadly enough. They take away all the good 'uns. Joey is still on air..? And as far as I know, My Family has lasted longer than Black Books and Teachers. :stunned:

Yeah, I can't really see Bellamy in Steve, myself. But to a 'diehardmusefan' maybe Matt is everywhere..including her heart?

Yeah, it's unwatchable really. Not one funny joke in the 3 episodes I've seen now. And they've been branched out too.

because Joey wasnt a funny character to begin with?

Meh. That's debatable. I never liked him, really, but his character in early episodes of Friends was well written, well - as good as friends could go.

*thread bumped* really got into this show off dvds being lent to me having not really known much about it before. genuisly written, and the amount of fucks in it is very mancunian. havent seen the 3rd series yet, im quite intrested to see how it works without fiona because she always lead the show for me, and i cant see how it will work without her in it at all. my favourite line for comedy genius is the episode when everyone thinks ian has got mandy pregnant and he leaves the room shouting fuck off and as he leaves carl says "casn i have his haddock?" the way he says it really made me laugh for some reason.
