It's not necessarily a comparison to sound. I totally see what people mean. I've been brought up listening to Queen and think they're amazing [or were..RIP Freddie] so it's not a bad thing!!!

Muse fuse classical music with "rock and roll"...they have quite a few tracks now with orchestral arrangements in at some point....like Queen did. There are a couple of Muse tracks with Spanish Guitar on them...much like Queen's Innuendo. There is also the heavy use of piano as well.

Freddie was a showman...he did like to show off on stage but did it in a way that the audience liked [rather than thinking he was an arrogant cock] sound familiar...? Although he'd probably deny doing it on purpose..the way Matt acts on stage is sometimes quite Mercury-esque. In my opinion.

Plus both bands are famed for doing songs that turn into something of an epic!!! And I think some of the guitar solos are Brian May-ish at times...not all the time...but sometimes.

He's just not that great a guitarist.

Eh, sorry? Have you missed something whilst listening to your Queen CD's? Brian May is a guitar GOD. The songs are amazing, and the way all the solos fit the song perfectly and don't sound out of some other tune is just incredible.

And he played in Bohemian Rhapsody and on top of Buckhingham Palace, so he must be good. :p

I was with you up to that point. Bellamy couldn't write a solo that would even touch anything Brian May would do. He could write a billion better riffs, but he can't get near May's soloing ability.

I didn't say he wasn't good, but he only did that because he's more well known than other British guitarists, and you couldn't have really Steve Vai or Zakk Wylde playing God Save the Queen :p

Cerpin

I find Brian May to be terribly underrated. His orchestrations, voicings, solo`s are superior to anything steve vai and zakk wylde would ever do. Sure, they can play fast, but it`s really not interesting. May`s stuff still impresses today, even with all the virtuosos and shredders around.

Queen were great, one of the most original and fines bands ever... Brian May is no way overrated, he's and excellent guitarist and his solos are great and beautiful...also what about Freddie's vocals? he was imo one of the finest vocalists ever and a great performer...such a tragic ending for him :'(

Aaah I didn't mean Bellamy was a match for May...it's just sometimes some of the fiddly bits he does on certain songs sound kinda Queen-ish. But like you've said...Bellamy's best ability lies more with riffs...not solos.

if ever to suggest so
is only because
both bands are possessors of an immense taste for sounds and harmony buildings
they know what to build a real music from

i can hardly call many of bands being the same great

But Brian May solos actually ADD to the song, instead of being a completely different feature, they are the song.

And Queen rule because they wrote Bohemian Rhapsody, and we pulled up to our end of school ball, in a limo, with Bohemian Rhapsody blaring out. How cool is that?

I think Brain May's main strongpoint is his composition, rather than his technical ability. His solo's are catchy little tunes in themselves, plus he wrote some excellent songs for Queen, e.g. Save Me.

Hi all

I started to connect the two groups after the muse gig in Carhaix in july this year (about 50000 hysterical people and me!)
It was awesome and it reminded me my first gig ever, that was Queen in june 1986 (age 13 1/2).

Muse could cover "Love of my life" what do you think?
Or "the prophet song" (actually not so sure of the title)
Or "get down make love" ;)

Well "don't stop me now" or "bohemian rhapsody" would be nice for sure :D

you can really draw similarities anywhere between the two, but i definitely didn't think Queen the first time i heard muse.....

freddie mercury was among the best frontmans of all time....

as for brian may's guitarness....

whether or not you love his solos or think he's the best, you have to admit that he had a very distinct style and sound...he definitely made a name for himself.....he was very precise (nay, FASTIDIOUS and precise.... ), melodious and extremely skilled.....

Muse are just taking back the musical concept used by Queen and moving far ahead of it with something far more eccentric and nasty .

Queen was far from being as heavy as Muse and the Bellamy s riffs sounds far more closed to Tom Morello and Jimi Hendrix than May .

May remains one of the greatest guitarist alive and he was my fave out of this band

At least read it before dismissing the idea - it's not that Queen don't want to be there, they just don't think it's possible due to other commitments. It is possible, especially if they know they'll be welcomed.

Queen will always have a special place in my heart. Brilliant band. I liked them since I was 5, and eventually saw them live when I was 16 - Wembley '86. One of the best memories of my life, up there with the birth of my kids (well almost). I can def see the Queen similarities when I listen to Muse - operatics, piano, drama, layers, classical music influences. And folks that say that Muse are heavier, more riff laden than Queen have never heard anything except the modern poppy Queen singles...

Queen is my favorite band of all time, and Muse is the only band nowdays capable of reaching the legendary status of Queen.

I think it's important from me to mention that if it wasn't because of Queen, I might have never gotten into Muse.

Back when Absolution was getting little airplay here in the U.S., I heard a lot of European Queen fans on a message board talking about how great Muse was. I didn't pay much attention as new bands don't impress me much.

Then one day I heard 'Time Is Running Out' on the radio and I was blown away. I heard the DJ mention that the song was by Muse, and instantly the name Muse clicked on my head.

I then went to Itunes to listen more from Muse, and that whole event changed my life.

Hey Jingles ;)

My fav. albums are A Night at The Opera, Innuendo and The Game. About the pop era of Queen... I just have to say I don't like at all Hot Space, just 3 songs and that's all.
:D.

I love Queen but I have to agree with you, Hot Space is a low moment that I wish had never happened.
I saw Queen play at St. James Park, Newcastle about 20 years ago. Brilliant show.

Absolutely amazingI went to see their live early this year and amazed how Brian became a better singer. And Roger was as good as before ... I can't think any other bands that every members are capable to sing AND play so well.

I'm posting a Freddie version of the same song (I was Born To Love You). The video is rather weird, but the song is great, even though this was not Queen (was Freddie's solo project).

Hm...the muse queen comparison. I've listened to both extensively and there are times when some of their sounds seem to match (listen to the beginning to death on two legs) but overall they're clearly stylistically different. I think people want to try and connect them due to the fact they make great music and have epic singers with an unusual range.

Just for fun though, if muse were to cover a queen song, it would HAVE to be march of the black queen.

Personally I'd rather go see Queen now with Brian and Roger sharing lead vocals instead of Paul Rodgers.

Don't get me wrong, Paul Rodgers is a great singer. I went to see them 3 times already, and while obviously not as good as Queen with Freddie Mercury, they still put up a great live show. However, there are times where Paul Rodgers' voice is too blues/rock for Queen.

I grew up listening to their music, and singing their songs as a kid. Now i'm hooked on their music more than ever :)
They were an incredibly talented band in their time, incredibly talented, and Freddy's voice is by far one of the most unique i've heard. So powerful.

Yet another DVD will be released on Oct 30. It's called Queen Rock Montreal.
http://www.amazon.com/Queen-Rock-Montreal-Live-Aid/dp/B000W00Y0O

Includes:
-The Montreal concert in high definition
-full performance footage of Queen rehearsing for Live Aid: Bohemian Rhapsody + Radio Gaga + Hammer To Fall and previously unreleased Live Aid interview with the whole band.

There was an one time pre-DVD sale show in a theatre. I went to see it and it was just amazing! The individual member's talent surprise me every time I see their performance, and they are so tight as a band ... always takes my breath away, they are the best band as far as I know.

On this DVD I was especially impressed with Roger. It was the coolest timpani solo I've ever seen. And Brian's beautiful piano performance + Freddie's cute guitar performance. How I wish I have a big monitor and good speakers at home!

*sigh*

That 'We Will Rock You' Montreal '81 show has already been released like a dozen times. I already own it, and in all honesty is not that much great of a show as compared to other Queen shows.

I'm really looking forward to see a show from the 70s released like Earls Court 77. Brian May claims that for a lot of these shows the entire footage is missing or the quality is not good enough to release it. However, I think that Queen should attempt to do what Led Zep did with 'How The West Was Won' and compile live clips from different shows on a single DVD.

Besides, there's a new audio commentary by Brian and Roger, etc. The price is not bad, so I still may check it. :D I'm really looking forward to see a show from the 70s released like Earls Court 77. Thanks to YouTube a lot of these old clips from the 70s are available, but it's very uncertain whether they will come on an official release.

'We Will Rock You' was already released twice on DVD, one with the concert itself and no special features, the other was released with audio commentaries by Brian May and Roger Taylor and on DTS sound, and now it will be released with more features on HD/Blue Ray.

Queen and Muse were just about as consistently good on their first albums, however as Queen headed towards a more mainstream pop/rock sound, the overall quality of their albums wasn't as good.

'Innuendo' and 'Made In Heaven' were brilliant though, although many times I think that seeing things coming to an end motivated them to make those albums as good as possible.

Only time will tell whether Muse can keep their consistent musical quality they've held this far.

I freakin' love Queen! I know it may be sacrilege to say this on a Muse forum, but they are my favourite band by a mile. My friend at college got me into Muse and I got him into Queen, and we both agree that Freddie just has THE most perfect voice ever created. Ever.

My favourite album is Queen II because of all the segues between tracks. My favourite song is Somebody to Love cause its just awesome :D

Regarding Brian's guitar, he made it with his dad out of various bits of wood. The body and neck are from a fireplace I believe and the tremolo bar is a knitting needle

I can't believe nobody has mentioned John Deacon at all or even Roger Taylor very much! Deacy was one of the great bassists, he knew when 'less is more' (unlike a certain Mr Flea) but could still amaze at the best of times. For an example, listen to 'The Millionaire Waltz' from A Day At The Races. Roger is a fantastic drummer as well, and he also has a stunningly awesome voice. Better than Brian's strange whine IMO

This comment... actually made me a lil bit sick. Im so flabberghasterd that i logged on just to reply to this. Guitar isnt about how fast you can shred, theres a lot more to it, and the sooner you realise this the better. Brian May Revolutionised Guitar, can you name another guitarist that can get that exact tone that he delivers? no you cant. because only Brian May can do it, thats why, he is a God. I certainly hope that there has been enough replies been and past to encourage you to re-evaluate what you are saying. If this reply upsets you in any way. Just be thankful that I re-evaluated what i was going to say.

Awww.... I was a big, big fan of Queen in the 70's. Followed them in the early eighties but thought they went in the wrong direction with the onset of Hot Space. Turned to heavy metal for a while then discovered Muse. A nice balance of both (IMO). I now look back at Queen with very fond memories. All four where extremely talented musicians like Muse. Can see some similarities with the vocals and style.

Not to mention... how many guitarists have you seen who have built their own guitar and created trademark sound of their own? Skills wise, Brian May is among the best guitarists ever, and he's definitely underrated.

He's much better than Clapton, and that is IMO an overrated guitarist.

This is so spot on. :yesey: John Deacon was actually my main inspiration to pick up the bass in the first place! Still one of my favs.

And yes, I spent many an hour trying to master The Millionaire Waltz. And the 1st song I've ever learned to play on the bass (over 14 years ago!) was, of course, Another One Bites The Dust ;)

Btw, doesn't it come across as a bit of a shock that Jim Hutton died?

For those who didn't know him, Jim Hutton was Freddie's last lover. At some point during the mid 80s Freddie decided to settle down with Jim, after being around with so many partners. Sadly, Jim contracted the HIV virus from Freddie but apparently he never had full blown AIDS.

Jim moved to Ireland after Freddie died, and he spent the last 18 years living there. He died of lung cancer.

I think that at times Brian May spends way too much time ranting, especially when the 'We Will Rock You' came out. He kept himself on the defensive from critics who bashed the musical. Personally I didn't like it myself, but then again the great majority of musicals bore me to death and think WWRY is one of them. At times I feel like Brian is becoming a bitter old man, and he doesn't handle criticism well. Besides, by speaking against critics he's giving them more attention.

I'm surprised that he didn't seem to lash out that much against people who criticized 'The Cosmos Rocks', but I do agree that the album was awful. I would have wished that they didn't release anything at all.

I thought Hutton gave HIV to Fred.

Well, it's hard to truly say who gave HIV to whom.

However, given that Freddie frequented gay bars and bath houses in New York in the late 70s and early 80s, and had multiple sex partners, it's very likely that he was the one who contracted HIV first.

Ah finally I get the holy graal of "other bands" threads aka this one, was about time :p

There are so many things to say about this band I could write a full book for them.

I think that's the most impressive thing from them is how each of them participated fully in the writting and composition of every single album they did.

Of course the late Freddie Mercury was the brillant songwritting and composer maestro but he found in Brian May and Roger Taylor particularly some amazingly versatile musicians (able to write lyrics and sing while totally excelling on their respective instruments in the band).

John Deacon also wrote some funky tracks and bass lines so I need to name every single member of the band cause it was just that, four super gifted musicians and together they revolutionnized the rock music in many ways.

I tend to be personnally more into the 80s and 90s albums of the band than the 70s.

I grew up in the 80s with tracks like Radio Gaga and the album "Kind Of Magic" so it has certainly something to do with it.

To sum it up, I'm more into their super polished productions than their original raw ones (which does not mean they're not great, far from it, more a personnal taste).

Currently revisiting every single of their album and especially some hated and obscured ones like "Hot Space" which sounds pretty unique with things like "Dancer" or "Back Chat" (the late/early 70's-80s disco era was surely influencing them).

I've also rediscovered overlooked gems from them like the deliciously rockabilly Rock It (Prime Jive) and the unbelieveable "Don't Try Suicide", which is the most hilarious and brillant track about such a serious matter I've ever heard.

My fave albums are "A Kind Of Magic", "The Miracle" (vastly overlooked for I don't know which reason) and "Innuendo".

Being a big fan of the first Highlander movie helps big time for the first one, it just suits the movie and its protagonists like the excellent villain "The Kurgan" perfectly (with such a brillant rocker like "Gimme The Prize").

Listening to Brian May playing a solo which sounds like an electric bag pipe is quite an experience, I'm totally feeling like I'm in Scotland when I listen to this one.

This band musical and lyrical versatility (from the aforementioned tracks to things like "The Invisible Man", "Innuendo" or "The Miracle"), this quator spent its career reinventing rock music to no ends.

Last but not least, probably the most fascinating live act ever thanks to frontman Freddie Mercury who was, in my very humble opinion, the best frontman in history of frontmen.

What he does (while being already ill) in the Live in Wembley Stadium 1986 is beyond any normal human being, that's pure frickin genius.

He had every single person in attendance eating in the palm of his hand and the sky was the limit to his unique abilities and natural gifts (from the sky as well).

Just listen to what he does vocally to play with the crowd for one two minutes before Under Pressure on the said live and you will get what I mean :)

I understand the discontent with Queen's 80s material. In fact, I went off them in the late 80s and it wasn't until I got a little older (about the age they were then) that I started to appreciate their music from that decade. I just didn't 'get it' until I was the age they were when they made it. Give it time.

QUEEN!

Good god, Queen! Surely one of the greatest bands of all time?!

Freddie was (I think) probably the greatest vocalist of all time, he always gave 100% and is just beautiful to listen to, right from Keep Yourself Alive to The Show Must Go On... Brian's guitar melodies were/are just beauuutiful, just listen to Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy and you'll hear it... his Red Special is so different to almost any other guitar... I reckon Roger is a totally underrated drummer, his Keep Yourself Alive solo is epic! Alove eet! And without him we wouldn't have Radio GaGa or A Kind Of Magic! But John Deacon... gosh, why is so under-fucking-rated?! People forget what a great bassist he was, he wrote the basslines for Another One Bites The Dust, Under Pressure and played the Dragon Attack bassline (which people forget actually has an epic bass). He also wrote I Want To Break Free, Another One Bites The Dust and You're My Best Friend (among others) which are all amaaaaaazing songs :erm:

Queen and Muse are probably the best live bands EVER... They both give an epic performance every time and are a treat for both the eyes and the ears. Queen worked together as a band so well, they gelled together and created something like the world had never seen before, and never will again. Right from their epic harmonies, guitar solos and dark anthems of the 70's up to their stadium filling grooves of the 80's and 90's, they do everything so well.

My favourite album has to be A Night At The Opera though, because every song is absolutely epic. There is just no other word for it. The guitars, the harmonies, the bass, the drums, the ukelele and even the fucking electric piano all come together to make something beautiful and magical!

But coming from a Queen and a Muse fan, I don't think the two bands are the same. Queen are Queen. Muse are Muse. They're both epic in sooooo many ways but really, they are from totally different times. Could Muse ever live up to Bohemian Rhapsody or We Will Rock You or Innuendo? Could Queen ever live up to Stockholme Syndrome or Starlight or Bliss? No. I think when a band becomes popular people try to compare them to another band that was popular in an effort to either dis-credit them or make people who are fans of the other band like this one. The same happened to Queen in the begining with Led Zeppelin but they rose above that and proved they were their own thing. They were influenced by them, but they were by no means the same. Muse did that with Radiohead and I'm confident they can with Queen. There are similarites, but there always will be between good bands. They are both one of the best bands of their time, that's what makes them similar.

Remind me again why I went on this massive Queen rant? If you managed to read all of that... I congratulate you :p

EDIT: Please don't think I'm not a Muse fan just because I love Queen! I love them both! :(

At last found the thread about my other favourite band!

I used to adore Queen so much. Their music in my opinion is just some of the best I ever listened to. All four of them wrote in very different styles which made them have a variety of sounds. Personally I prefer the 70's and 90's stuff to what they did in the 80's. My favourite member up to very recently was Roger Taylor but now I feel that Freddie is my favourite member. He draws me to Queen like Matt draws me to Muse... the voice is just so beautiful! I've kind of gone off of them recently because I feel they are not doing enough to keep the fans interested but I still love their music just as much.

And Grubitha I joined here for the same reason. Everything is broken is such a beautiful song as well. Full of feeling and opinion which always makes Roger's solo work so great!

For people who don't get the connection between Muse and Queen yet (while it was already WAY obvious on a song like Butterflies and Hurricanes...) , just read this, amazing read from start to finish :

"Queen guitarist Brian May has praised the Queen-influenced sound that Muse have incorporated into their recent number one album, The Resistance.

"I love it, I think it's great stuff," May told the BBC. "I think they're very good boys and extremely talented, and like us they have their tongue in cheek a lot of the time," May said.

One key track on the new Muse album - United States of Eurasia - has drawn comparisons to classic Queen.

Last month, Muse drummer Dom Howard said: "I guess people have thought it sounds a bit like Queen, particularly that big chord and the big harmonies. When we did that in the studio we laughed a lot because it was so uplifting. It's a real chest out, hand in the air moment in the song."

May, who gained a doctorate in astronomy in 2007, said he had met Muse a couple of times in the early part of their career.

"They said they liked us and that we've been an influence, which is obviously nice for someone like me to hear," said May. He described the track United States of Eurasia as "brilliantly done".

"They are extraordinary musicians," May added. "Real virtuosos - much more than I am. I like the way they let their madness show through, always a good thing in an artist."

Just impressed as this genius humility while he is a legit guitar and musical virtuoso and recognized as so.

Makes me enjoying Queen and Mr May even more.

I met Brian @ the NY Metropolitan Museum of Art where he was signing copies of his stereography book. The lecture was quite dull for those of us who were more into Queen that stereography.

Needless to say, Brian May was absolutely a gentleman and it's no wonder why he's often called "The nicest guy in rock n' roll". Store staffers wouldn't let anyone in line unless they bought the book. However, Brian didn't have a problem signing my "Made In Heaven" CD.

It sure was a dream to meet the guy. I'll never forget it.

Dr. Brian May was a guest today, Tuesday Aug. 3, on Fresh Air (host: Terry Gross) on NPR stations nationwide (& on podcast if you can't catch the broadcast): Fresh Air on NPR.org (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=13). In her short blurb for the interview, Terry Gross hinted at "some surprising new directions" or somesuch that he's been pursuing.

On edit: I caught the entire interview, and it was great! He was asked many questions about his career in Queen after all, but now he's got a Ph.D. in astrophysics, he's a university chancellor [!!!], and he's got a new book out about 19th-C. stereography (3-D photography).

The lecture and presentation was wonderful (ok so i am actually interested in the topic) and i encourage anyone with an interest in photography & village life in the 1800's to check it out!

OMG he signed my book. OMG I met Brian May. This man has had a HUGE influence on me for 30+ years!

OK, so we chatted briefly and I wished him a belated B-Day...
Stupid me forgot a camera, but the guy in line behind me took a snap for me :D

The radio is playing a lot of Queen songs today.

I often wonder what Freddie would've made of Muse but we'll never know. I'm sure he would've recognised Queen influenced them in a way (and now Matt and Dom have pretty much said that will we finally get to a point where some Muse fans stop denying it?)

I definitely see much of Queen in Muse. (and the influences are all positive) I think that Queen were one of the most musically talented bands ever and from what I've read and heard Freddie Mercury was quite a modest character (that belied his showmanship):)

Queen is my favourite band ever.

Freddie Mercury was last century's greatest genius. The ultimate artist. He sure was an amazing singer but no words can describe enough how ridiculously genius his compositions were. Brillant in every way, you name 'em:
My Fairy King, The Fairy Feller's Master Stroke, Innuendo, Bohemian Rhapsody, The March of the Black Queen, Nevermore, Ogre Battle, Death on Two Legs, Mustapha, Bicycle Race, Princes of the Universe, Play The Game, We Are The Champions, In The Lap of the Gods, Flick of the Wrist...

You just can't stop admiring not only his creativity but also his incredible sense of melody and harmony. How he could come up with some random progression and yet make everything flow naturally. Not to mention the way he could see things through and how he'd arrange harmony vocals or even every other instrument.

Just listen to his solo album with Monserrat Caballé: Barcelona. It's Mercury at his best when he had the freedom to do as he pleased, that should do.

The rest, they're ok.

Roger is one very talented musician. He doesn't just play the drums (which he does very nicely), he's also a GREAT singer and a pretty decent guitar player. His writing skills may vary but he sure wrote some good tunes (Tenement Funster, I'm In Love With My Car, Ride The Wild Wind, The Also Rans, Feel The Force, These Are The Days of our Lives, Heaven For Everyone...)

John Deacon could honestly have been replaced by someone else and we might never notice, most of the time, at least...

---

Brian May, sadly, only seemed to work at his best when Freddie was around. His guitar skills are pretty much out of this world and he covers most (if not all) of the guitar techniques we know nowadays.

To name a few...
- Tapping: It's Late (1977, one year before Van Halen's Eruption), Resurrection, Rain Must Fall, Bijou, Gimme the Prize.
- Sweep Picking: Chinese Torture, Was It All Worth It.
- Slide guitar: Tie Your Mother Down, Drowse, Radio Ga Ga.
- Tremolo picking: I Want It All, Princes of the Universe, Brighton Rock.

He could play some pretty fast licks too, let's not forget about that.
(Gimme the Prize, Was it All Worth It, The Invisible Man, The Miracle, etc).

But most of the time, you know... it doesn't matter at all. Nobody cares if music is fast or slow, that's just nonsense. Nobody should care about that, anyway. What Queen proves, by doing such different styles in such different ways, is that they never held themselves back when it came to making music. They never cared about anything but trying new things, new ways.
Sure, they wrote some pretty lame songs... but that's part of the discovery.

Brian May will be remembered not because he could play this or that, but because of how he'd arrange lines for ANYTHING... and they reproduce it with his guitar.
Nobody ever asked themselves WHAT WAS THIS GUY THINKING when he wrote Good Company? How he'd reproduce the tone of every instrument and play every line in a certain way so that it would get even closer?

That's virtuosity, to me.
A real virtuoso which, by definition, masters the technique of his instrument.

By making a guitar sound like a clarinet, a trumpet, trombone, cello, organ, flute, tuba... ALTOGETHER. Man, if that's not mastering the technique of an instrument, I don't know what is. Plus, his phrasing sense and how he articulates the melodies is just great.
And he is also a pretty good piano player. One INCREDIBLE singer and a brillant composer.

SADLY, he doesn't realize about this and while Freddie was not around, I must admit that his compositions were worse every time and he started labeling himself as a ROCK HERO... which he was not and that was the best thing about him: he wasn't the average rock musician.

And not even in my worst nightmare I would have believed that he'd play as awfully as he does in that album they did with Paul Rodgers.

He sure hates himself or something...

Whatever, Freddie Mercury is the ultimate genius. :p

I'm really not a fan of Freddie's solo material. Not at all. As much as I love Queen, and they were my favourite band for 13 years, I still find them to be quite inconsistent with every single one of their albums. They've still written far more brilliant material that nearly every other rock band I can think of.

Anyone else seen the supposedly leaked news yesterday that Queen would be headlining at Sonisphere next year with Adam Lambert?? (no official confirmation though)

Really not sure what to make of that. Obviously Adam is no Freddie but then i reckon it'll probably work better than Queen+Paul Rodgers did in my opinion, and i would love to see them live, but at sonisphere...really?

John Deacon could honestly have been replaced by someone else and we might never notice, most of the time, at least...

I admire your love of Queen but a bit more credit for the rest of the band, particularly John Deacon. Hell he wrote Another One Bites the Dust (which broke them in the U.S. and was Queens best selling single, with sales of over 7 million copies ), I Want to Break Free & Spread Your Wings.

And not even in my worst nightmare I would have believed that he'd play as awfully as he does in that album they did with Paul Rodgers.
p

After Freddie died I thought that they should have called themselves by another name. But going by other bands & artists codes, Brian & Roger would seem to be perfectly entitled to carry on as Queen. Maybe they just should have left it alone but it's their choice. I view it this way, they are artists with a creative drive - so they are going to carry on and create new music. They also want to keep the legacy of Queen alive. Better them doing it than cover bands.
No one can replace Freddie but to keep the music alive is a tribute to him.
In contrast, I saw the west end show ' We Will Rock You ' and I thought it was pure sh**.
I guess it's all just personal taste.

Think I will go and listen now to the album 'The Game' - it sounds really good turned up loud (wish some new albums now could sound as good).
