"Blow", their second album is absolutely amazing!! :cool: I've been listening to it for several months now and I can't get tired of it! :p My favourite tracks are "Blow" of course, "The Dragster Wave" and "Sea-side Friends"! :$

Hey everyone!
I've been wondering where all of the Ghinzu fans were! yey!
Im from Oxford and I was introduced to Ghinzu by my french friend (me being half french I go to France and Belgium alot) and I've loved them from the first song I heard from them- Blow. :rolleyes:
I'm so addicted to their music, it's really unique and I'd loved to see them live.
I've introduced Ghinzu to several of my friends at school and other places such as Wales and all of the feedback I got were things like-They're amazing!..I want their album...and..Why haven't I heard their music before now? :) :p
The only problem is.. their album isnt on sale over in the Uk! How stupid! They would be loved if they came over to the Uk..even if they're small gigs(the smaller the better I think!). But they've only come over here in 2003! I want them to come over here now!! :'(
I'd go all the Way to Scotland to see them play. Are there any other Ghinzu fans that agree with me? Where are you guys from? :)

Yep, "Turn Up The Satan" (I love that song! :cool: ) is on "Electronic Jacuzzi" but "Plans for Nigel" is just a cover they did for a radio show! ;)
I'm sure they'll go back to England some time, they already did once so there's no reason why they shouldn't go back there!...
I don't think they're already working on their 3rd album though, they're still on the road until the end of the summer festivals... ;) Luckily they'll be back with new material next year! :unsure:

Well I listened to the radio session of Ghinzu on Le Mouv', they played "Do You Read Me" (what a surprise! :rolleyes: ) and a cover of "Blue Suede Shoes" by Elvis! The set was rather short but the itw wasn't too bad! :p

kind of. people didn't had the idea to make a queue, we were all waiting on the street with no order, and when they opened the doors of the virgin, it was a bit like subway during rush hour : everyone wants to get in, in the same time, and they don't let people get out :rolleyes: but I'm trained and my friend and I both had our tix
for the picture, I don't know if I could, they often check bags at the entry, and I don't want to be bounce out or to let my digital camera to a stranger :unsure:

Last night, Show-case @ Le Nouveau Casino, with OuïFM
My mate and I arrived 1 hr before the opening of the doors, there were only 15 persons before us. :cool: We were queueing between the doors and a yellow van and... we saw several guys from Ghinzu coming on the street, going in the van picking up their suits and stuff, going in tha bar next door, and looking at us in amazement because we were numerous :eek: and no-one had the balls to talk to them :rolleyes:
Then we came inside, and the place is really small: no gap between the crowd and the stage, no barreer, we could have touched things on stage ! :ohmy: My friend and I were at the second row, a bit on the right of the piano. Unfortunatelly we couldn't see the drummer but great view on all the rest !
We were so close, I heard John burping after he drank beer, and he spited on me too, and we had a beer shower when he fucked up things during Do You Read Me ?. :LOL: During Blow my mate and I were the only one to jump, but then the crowd was great, even a bit too pogoing for my taste (and god I hate people screaming in moments of silence just to feel important... but John took the piss out of one, it was fun :LOL: ). During the little bit of Purple Rain, John looked at me, I was embarrassed :$ Great gig, just a bit short due to the releasing on the radio (did someone listen to it ?)
at the end, my mate and I took empty cans of beer of John, and I stole a poster too :unsure: pictures later.
I'm fucking happy I went to that gig :D

What can I say about the gig @ l'Olympia? It was spectacular!! :D

My sister and I arrived around 7.45 pm. On the front of the venue, "Ghinzu" written in big red letters, wow! Pretty impressive!
We got in and found ourselves a place in the moshpit, pretty close from the stage, a bit on the left. The venue is absolutely delightful: kind of a theater, decorated in red fabric, little lights around the mezzanine...
8.00: Millionaire came onstage. Very hard rock, we couldn't hear the frontman's voice much but we could see he was screaming! It reminded me of Metallica but in worse!... The only song I enjoyed was "Champagne"...
9.20: The lights turned off again. The thick red curtain of the stage opens on the theme of Star Wars! 5 storm troopers are standing in line! First, the afro whigs, then the gorilla's masks, and now that! What a great surprise!! :LOL: Ghinzu then came onstage dressed in black suits, John & Kris wearing dark shades, just like superstars: we went absolutely mad!! :LOL: The troopers then left the stage.
The show starts with Blow: very smooth at first and then it grows and grows on you until it bursts! I could litterally feel the ground bumping under my feet! Then HVQ, Dragon (with John's little twist), Jet Sex :$ /Cockpit Inferno, The Dragster Wave (I'm dying! :'( Goose spots all over my body, tears coming to my eyes...), 21st Century Crooners, Do You Read Me (everyone went nuts!!), then a cover of Blue Suede Shoes dedicated to John's father who was there, Dracula Cowboy, and the explosive Mine!
First break of the show: it's hot in here, I'm breatless, dying for a drink!...

Second break of the show: the band is joined by David of Soldout for the remix version of Mine! Amazing!! Just as if we were in a huge nightclub! :LOL: Everyone jumping, dancing!... And last but not least, the cover of Purple Rain followed by the terrific 'Til You Faint!
What a show, what a blast, what a f*****g experience!! :D The band must have had the pressure but it didn't show!! It was amazing, John kept on talking to us, smiling, making fun by asking the girls to scream... Unforgettable!!
Definitely one of the best gigs of them I've been to with the one @ l'Ancienne Belgique! A gig I will never forget! :D

The one which was filmed and that I have on dvd ? with Girls in Hawaii and Sharko (I didn't even succeed to see thein performance until the end, I don't like them :indiff: )

Actually the band's performance was great: John was in a good shape, dancing like a mad man on "Dragon", chatting, introducing the songs, making the crowd participate on "Mine"...
Kris was amazing too (even though he was sick the day before): I love to hear him scream on "Dragon"!...
Mika counted in the microphone during "Mine"!...

But a part of the crowd was a shame... Maybe because it was free access, some stupid guys just came over to get drunk and to mess around... I don't mind people getting drunk as long as they don't disturb me... Some of them were so drunk... It was really pathetic and annoying...

Despite that, it was delightful! The stage was right between the Parc and le Palais Royal which were both nicely enlightened.
The night was starry and sweet: I couldn't stop looking up high in the sky to watch the stars shine... :cool:
Apparently, we were between 30,000 and 40,000 people gathered there which is pretty impressive!...

Great gig, great vibe, amazing show!... :happy:
It had been a while since I hadn't been so close to the stage, and seeing the band so good was a real delight!
Ghinzu were the last band on stage, so their show lasted more than an hour and a half! Two encores, with Rascal Pop for the final, nothing new as for the setlist, but gosh, what a blast!! Greg was stoned (as usual!) and he really scared us by falling off the stage!... :eek: No harm, luckily!...
Someone in the crowd had brought a pair of very tacky sunglasses, Greg asked a security guy to grab them for him, so he spent most of the set with those terrible sunglasses on! :LOL: He looked like Michel Polnareff!! Silly him!!
Anyway, I had a great time, and I'm looking forward to the next one! :fro: :D

It was kind of a VIP night! :p Here's the story:

7 pm: I'm looking for the venue. I was told it was kind of a wharehouse, somewhere alongside the river. Nothing aroud me but wharehouses... tricky...

After several forth and comings, I spot a poster "Petrol Deluxe" on a very rusty gate. I enter the site, see a parking lot, very few cars, two vans :fro: , a door open on the side of the building, and two girls waiting outside... I'm guessing it's there! I park my car next to the van, get out, and hear Ghinzu playing! They're doing their soundcheck!
I start talking to the 2 very friendly girls, we watch the soundcheck from where we are standing... A little gig for ourselves!
After the soundcheck is over, Fab gets out and leaves, Kris get outs to give a phone call! I start talking to him, he signs my CD cover!... Good start!
He goes back in, then the drummer of Mud Flow gets out: "Hello there!"...

The 2 girls and I really need to go to the bathroom so we ask someone of the staff if we can use the bathroom inside. "Sure!"
We get in, the venue is in fact a nightclub, quite small, just a small bar in the back, a kind of DJ podium in the middle, and a stage. As we get out of the bathroom, Mud Flow start their soundcheck. We sit in a corner and watch the soundcheck! Nobody asks us to leave, so we won't! :D
After Mud Flow's souncheck, we walk around and find ourselves backstage! "Oh look, John's keyboard!!" Time runs fast...

10.15 pm: The doors are open to the public. We rush ourselves just in front of the stage. I can't believe it, I'm right against the stage (which is very low), no space between the moshpit and the scene, just in front of the middlestage micro!!
The venue is still empty, very few people... It's gonna be very intimistic!!

11.20 pm: Mud Flow come onstage. Very good, 2nd time I have seen them, really good band and music! The drummer recognizes me, blinks at me and keeps smiling at me!... "Stop it, you're making me uncomfortable!" :D

12.20 pm: Mud Flow leave the stage after a pretty good performance. The room is still quite empty!... Weird!...
"Oh look, Mika's here!" I go talk to him, he signs my CD cover... Very nice! :D

1.20 am: Ghinzu come onstage! My head is right over John's keyboard! As I look down, I can see his terrible white shoes, no socks... :LOL:
"Blow" launches the set, then "Dragon" (no "HVQ" for this time :'( ), "Jet Sex/Cockpit Inferno", "Dragster Wave"...
Kris recognizes me and smiles at me!... "Stop it, I'm gonna faint now!"... :LOL: We can feel they must be very tired after such a long tour, but their performance is still incredible!
"Dracula Cowboy", "Do You Read Me", "Blue Suede Shoes"... Greg is hot and takes off his shirt!
"Mine", John makes us applause in rhythm, steps on his keyboard: "Oh my, he's gonna fall over me!"... "Look at that tooshy!"...
Encore: "Purple Rain" and "Til You Faint", Mika stares at me while playing right behind the keyboard! "That's it now, I'm really gonna faint!" :LOL:
2.20 am: The band comes offstage... :'( Over already... But god, what a fucking night!! It was quite a short set, but in the best conditions ever!! Small venue, lot of space around to dance and move, very good view, loads of smiles!... "Mummy please, I wanna go back in time!!..." :'(
