such profound lyrics, truley amazing. Dustin has a great way with words.
I've only heard Stare at the Sun as its on the SSX 3 soundtrack. I like it though.

Fuck me.
Image of the Invisible is released on the site. But it can only be unlocked if 100,000 downloads are made. It's currently at around 14,000. Such an awesome song, I want to hear all of it in all its studio glory.
The album Vheissu is out 18th October. I can't wait!

Holy cow, i've never been so excited for a CD. I just read a review that gave it 10/10. Been listening to the Podcasts, and it sounds incredible. I can imagine i'll be listening to this until christmas.
I want it SO bad. I've got 2 songs (Image of the Invisible, and The Earth Will Shake), and a B-side called Lullaby/Final.
I wish it would leak so I could just listen to it. It's all pre-ordered.

I got Vheissu about a week ago, and after absorbing every song as best as possible in that short amount of time, I have determined that it is quite possibly the best album I've heard all year.

As a lot of you may know, for the past month or so, weve been writing and recording our next album. We didnt want to say anything official until wed finalized a lot of the details, but now that were getting rolling on it, we want you guys to be the first to know what the plans are for this album.
We have started writing and recording a 4 disc concept record, with each disc being themed sonically and thematically to correspond with the four natural elements - earth, air, water and fire. The final album will have somewhere between 20 and 25 songs, divided between the 4 discs.
We are approaching the whole project in a new way for us, both writing and recording. Writing with these elements in mind, we are letting them shape the direction of the songs sonically and thematically. And for the first time, were recording the record ourselves as we write it, freeing us up to change things as we go.
We are very excited about the project and are looking forward to sharing more details as the record takes shape. Were also in the process of setting up a site dedicated to keeping you up to date on our progress, so keep a look out for that in the near future.
For our friends on the west coast, we have two events to talk about. The first is the Race for the Cure later this month. Well be doing the race this year along with our friends Chuck Ragan and The Cold War Kids. Dustin, Chuck, and the Cold War Kids will be doing a special acoustic show after exclusively for those who attend the Race with us. All of the sign up details are posted on our MySpace page.
Also, we wil be heading out on a few dates in October, with two awesome bands - These Arms are Snakes and Planes Mistaken for Stars. Were putting together a brand new setlist, digging up some old songs we havent played in a while, songs weve never played live before, and a couple of the new songs were working on.
Stay tuned for more details about the elements, videos, and pictures. Well get to all of that as the album progresses. We look forward to seeing you all soon.

Well, it depends. Do you have Vheissu? If not, then get it as in my opinion it was one of the best album of '05.
As for Thrice's stuff prior to that album, it sounded a little different. From Vheissu, I'd say that the next step would be the album that came out prior to that (The Artist in the Ambulance)... in paticular the songs All That's Left, Stare at the Sun, The Melting Point of Wax and The Artist in the Ambulance.
Hell, just buy the album.

i read they're bringing out two of the albums at one part of this year, then the other two in the latter half. i think it's working out at 4 EP's now, so it's 2 smaller EP's that makes it look like one album. so it's like a double album of 4 EP's?

vheissu is their worst album!:stunned:
Never, ever, has the :noey: smiley been more appropriate. It's easily their most audacious and most challenging work, and it's also their best. I find that the only people who don't "get" it are their idiots who live in the past, saying that Thrice have strayed too far from their post-hardcore-sceamo-shouty roots.
To those idiots, I say get over it. If you find Vheissu to be their worst work, then I actually pity you to a degree as you're missing out on some stunning music.

It's wayy too pretentious and cliche, Thrice are trying to be something their not. And the fucking "earth fire and water" theme is the biggest joke ever. Also the new album its shaping up to be even more pretentious and boring.

No, the "biggest joke ever" would be a band doing the same style of music on their fifth album that they did on their first, second, third and fourth.
Thrice have grown as musicians. Just because they're interested in moving forward and taking thier music to places you either can't or don't want to comprehend, then that doesn't make them "pretentious".
Let me ask... have you heard Finch's two albums? If so, I bet you preferred What It Is To Burn, and thought that Say Hello To Sunshine was crap.

"Firebreather", from Vol. 1 (Fire) and "Digital Sea" from Vol. 2 (Water).

I'm loving the difference in sound between the two, although if I had to pick between the two I'd say Digital Sea... it's just a f*ckin' immense tune.. Can't wait for this to come out. The "Alchemy Index: Vols. I & II: Fire & Water" in October, and then the second half (The Alchemy Index: Vols. III & IV: Earth & Air) in Spring 2008.

Indeed. I like the way they delve into various topics with all kinds of different influences to create something really interesting. I'd always prefer hearing lyrics that make me stop and think than ones that just tell me what the singer thinks.
And from what the site says, that's in a few days! Tell us about it afterwards.
Was amazing, absolutely amazing. The guy who's in for Tep just now slipped maybe once, so that wasn't a problem. Stuff off of beggers translates quite well live, and the Earth will shake was amazing, whole place just stomped along with the start of it before the rest of the band kicked in. will put the setlist up in spoiler tags later on if I remember.
OH!

Back from Brand New. Just incredible overall.
Of Dust and Nations
Silhouette
The Earth Will Shake
In Exile
All the World is Mad
The Artist in the Ambulance
Beggars
Was the Thrice set. I was surprised how good the new stuff sounded live, but it wasn't as good as the classics.
The Glassjaw set was just as good:
Tip Your Bartender
Mu Empire
You're Not John Fucking Lennon
El Mark
Ape Dos Mil
The Gillette Cavalcade of Sports
Siberian Kiss
I think that was the order. Again, incredible.
Brand New Played:
Welcome to Bangkok
Sink
Degausser
You Won't Know
Sic Transit Gloria...Glory Fades
Okay I Believe You But My Tommy Gun Don't
The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows
Limousine
Vices
Gasoline
You Stole
Sowing Season (Yeah)
The Archers Bows are Broken
Jesus Christ
Jude Law and a Semester Abroad
Seventy Times Seven
At the Bottom
Play Crack the Sky
Seems about right. They were very good, as you'd expect, although not as good as the support imo. No encore was nice though because Play Crack the Sky was a great finisher, and the contrast between 70x7 and At the Bottom was big enough to act like an encore.
Sorry I haven't been that descriptive, it was just too good.

Setlist doesn't surprise me, apparently the setlist's been the same so that nate could play stuff properly, as opposed to loads of stuff averagely.

Mother of God the new album is freakin incredible. Best since The Artist in the Ambulance. More people need to get on this band if they haven't already.

From the little bits I've heard, it's a drop from the last... 4 (Vheissu, Both Alchemys, Beggars)

I've heard the first 5 tracks and can't say it's blown my mind so far. I'll download it soon.

I'm telling you guys this album is such a grower. It didn't hit me that hard the first couple times I listened to it but with each listen it keeps getting better and better.

Thrice has always been a grower band. I'll give it a chance when I get the chance.
