The double-CD is getting a standard commercial release on April 7 in the UK. Also available that day will be a 130 gram vinyl edition (the one in the ultra limited box is 180 gram).
I was somehow able to order and download it last night. NIN's servers were bad then, but they seem to be even worse now. I fear he greatly underestimated the interest in this album.
Yay!!
I don't have broadband here at home so my plan is still to try to download again when I get into work tomorrow.

I can't. I've had the same ish00es (minus uni internet but my internet acts shit most days, so it's close). :(

I'm downloading through SoulSeek! :D
So I can package it up tomorrow, if I bring myself to doing it, and send it to anyone interested. Bare in mind though that it is just the songs and not the extra stuff.

If I can feel the late night endurance, I'll try and upload tonight but that's unlikely. I'll send you a link through Facebook/Myspace/something else tomorrow I hope.

Right, I have the whole thing but I'm gonna have to wait until tomorrow to play the whole thing.

The torrents so far are just the free releases, I'm guessing the other bits will be torrented in the near future. I may even wait for the CD release for th enew songs, not sure if it's worth paying £60 for the extra gubbins they're packing with this...

The new album is so...chill. Definitely music I can chill out to and then there are some songs that are kind of upbeat but for the most part its pretty ambient. I really, really like it. I can listen to the whole deal from the start till the end while doing homework and stuff. The many songs are also nice in that they are awesome intermezzo's when I listen to all my songs shuffled on my Ipod.
I really hope he releases more of these 'packets' like he suggested ('I hope you enjoy the first part of ghosts)

Damnit. Well, Mr Gemsy knows his sounds... He can tell you anything about samples in songs. Even knows what machine they come from and all that... so I don't think he's lying. Grrr. Damnit. Ah well, it probably makes sense seeing as Trent's credited with everything on that album.
Trent Reznor – Vocals, Arranger, Programming, Producer, Engineer, Digital Editing, Mixing
Richard Patrick – Guitar (A droning guitar sound at the end of "Sanctified")
I was kinda hoping he had a pocket bass player though. :( Meh. Probably did live.
PS: OOOH, that's actual Filter Richard Patrick too, never knew that.
Let's ask Trent next time he plays live. :D
'OI! TRENT! DID YOU PLAY BASS ON PRETTY HATE MACHINE?!'
I'm just listened to Still again. Leaving Hope is such a beautiful piece of music. <3

It is a bit stupid. I have a few things imported from the US and I have never had to pay anything over $10 for shipping before. How the hell can it be so expensive? I'm going to have to wait a week until I get paid to be able to afford the deluxe edition. Tut tut Trent...

Wish live is amazing. Hurt at Reading last year was probably the best song I've seen live. I like the AATCHB DVD set list as it has a good mixture of the angry stuff and the chilled stuff.
Hurt makes me cry. Too much.
Wish and Sin and March of the Pigs. I cannot decide, so all three are on my list.

Hurt is a very powerful song. I like all the NIN stuff to be honest. A lot of NIN fans didn't like With Teeth and Year Zero but I thought they were two very good albums. I know thats a bit of a cop out but choosing one best song is very hard. It all depends on what mood I'm in. The Great Destroyer at Reading was awesome too. It had Happiness In Slavery samples in it.

exactly!! well I saw Hurt at Sziget Festival, and it was soo soo amazing. I couldn't sing because If I had done it, I couldn't have heard Trent singing. He really loved the crowd, he said it like 3 or 4 times during the gig :) oh and he didn't stopped Hurt in the middle of it and didn't call us bastards, hehehehe:D
Best nin song?
Ahhh choices, choice never pick one, some are awesome for their own diff ways,
We're in this together
Last

The whole of the downward spiral
And all that could have been

Agreed.
It was a brilliant idea by Radiohead, but to offer it only as a 160k mp3 encoded with an outdated version of the LAME codec was a bit shoddy.

Insincere? Trent did the same thing with the Saul Williams album. Maybe a few kb/s higher but still only 192.
Hmm just two tracks off finishing my first listening of Ghosts, it's alright, some good tracks here and there, but its rather average to previous instrumental stuff Trent has done. Though i do like it for the fact it clears my head a little and I can focus on things. ie. a good work bg album.
Last two tracks are alright, track 35 was pretty cool

True but Niggy Tardust came with album artwork and lyrics etc as a PDF document. I think what Trent is trying to get at is that Radiohead just released their album as bunch of mp3's and nothing more. Thats not really that ground breaking is it?
Trent offered different download types when you paid for Niggy Tardust did Radiohead do the same when you paid for their album or did you get the same files whether you paid for it or not? I never bothered getting Radioheads new album as I heard two tracks and thought they were a bit poo.

I didn't like what I heard. It was just being whinny for the sake of it. The few tracks I listened to put me off listening to the rest of it. I found them a bit boring to be honest.
I've not finished listening to Ghosts either yet. I'm fidning this album a bit boring too. I like instrumental music but Ghosts has too many tracks for me to sit through and listen to them all in one go.

He's completely right.
I felt robbed after finding out I'd paid £5 for Radiohead's album in 160kbps. It was basically a massive publicity stunt for the albums "real" release.
Niggy Tardust was a different matter.
You could have a 192 kbps mp3 set for free or get it in Lossless (FLAC), 320 Kbps and another format for $5.

Exactly, Radiohead made is possible/did it first, Trent has done it as it should be.
I get the majority of my music from Waffles, simply because much of it is music I am unable to find in the shops. If there was a legal download service, at a reasonable price offering tracks in either full quality, no-DRM mp3s or as FLAC files, I'd be more than willing to pay.
Unfortunatly, the industry doesn't seem to understand this idea and continues with its increasingly draconian means of ripping us off.

Speaking of Ghosts...
The standard edition CD of Ghosts, if you bought it from nin.com, is being shipped today. :)

So hang on, NIN now has two live guitarists? :stunned:
Yep. A lot of NIN songs don't have any bass in them. Watch the DVD's and you'll see that there are 2 guitars used in a lot of songs. On AATCHB, Trent, Lohner and Fink mix instruments up between guitar, bass and keyboards but Fink dosn't play bass. Some songs such as Wish, have 3 guitars. On the Beside You In Time DVD Cortini plays guitar on a few tracks. They don't really have any set instrument except the drummer.
I'm assuming this guy from the Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster will play guitar and bass.
No idea who he is, when I saw the Eighties Matchbox they had the original guitarist playing then.

Oh I know that 2 guitars are used, but I would have thought that Trent would have been playing some on a few tracks. But yeah, should be very cool.
Personally I liked Jerome Dillon. Although Trent does have a nack of picking awesome musicians to be in his band. Vrenna, Lohner, Fink, Clouser, Dillon, North, White, Cortini, Freese. They've all been amazing.

Well there's your Aaron replacement .
He was mental when I saw 80s Mbox!
:yesey: He's a quality mentalist on stage.
According to Wiki he's played with UNKLE too.
I too had much love for Jerome Dillon.

Also, Trent posted another '2 weeks!' announcement. Who knows what the hell that will be...

Hear Hear!
Saw them in Jan 2000 when they came for our Big Day Out festival but that was obviously a shorter festival set (still awesome though esp. "Hurt")but haven't seen them do their own concert. They came to Oz in 2005 and 2007 but for some reason that I'm still trying to work out I missed them both times. Ahh well...
Mind you given that Reznor and co. did 2 Oz tours in 2 years and also his prolific output (compared to earlier in his career) I wouldn't be surprised if they tour down under next year.
And you can bet I won't miss my chance to see them then. The "Beside You In Time" DVD is excellent.

Hmm, new track... it's good, but it's a tad one-dimensional and doesn't really go anywhere/build to anything.

I've only seen them live once at Brixton Academy, I think it was 2006, I could be wrong, I was well impressed they were much better than expected :)
Haven't been keeping track of what they are doing now though, I wasn't keen on With Teeth.
Hmm I'll leave this new track for the time being.
NIN are somewhat awesome live, despite my fear that they'll slowly play more rubbisher newer stuff :(

Discipline seems very Radiohead-esque to me; going by the new marketing scheme, Ghosts's , etc. I wonder if In Rainbows made Trent a big fan! Also hurray, possibly another album/EP already planned for the 5th of May??

In covers and feature songs they've been steadily avoiding each other. They make covers of the same bands but they keep avoiding each other.

i dont see it to be honest, i thought trent had been slagging radiohead off recently about in rainbows,

I was there, it was alright, I would say their own gigs are better

The whole minimalism, simple melodies on traditional pop instruments (except the chainsaw-like guitar :p ) and the compromise between experimental music and mainstream pop kinda reminds me of In Rainbows, as do the piano and singing lines in general. Infact towards the end, it reminds me a lot of 'Everything In Its Right Place' from Kid A... I'm not saying its a big style copy or something, I'm just pointing out what I hear as a possible influence creeping in in there :p
I've come to the conclusion that Discipline sounds like a remix of a song that should been brilliant.
