I hope so. I'm a big fan of the physical items over files on a PC, it's the magpie in me.
yes, me too. I need new halos! Mp3s on the pc is not that exciting for me and I like holding the cd in my own hands and watching it for like hours and seeing that this cd in miiine... all with that gorgeous artwork and stuff.
on the other hand I'm almost sure that Trent knows that there are a lot of collectors all over the world and he doesn't even want to disappoint his hardcore fans.

Ah yes being on the Nothing label would be a pretty good idea. I hope this means trent will stop being so angry, then again he always have to be angry at something, first life society and himself, now record labels and government what next?
Probably the people going "oh noes, why did you get rid of teh Aaron!!1!!!".

Haha, we'll only let him get away with it if he puts out a godly record or replaces him with someone of equal fitting.......brian may?

I prefer to have a packaged product rather than some piece of data on my hard drive. Although I like the idea of mp3's as a way of releasing music, I think the NIN artwork is amazing for his albums and in the booklets.

Relax, friend. One second after this package goes to the manufacturing plant someone will kindly upload those missing multitracks and everything will be OK. If they don't soon enough for your liking, just yell loudly out the window and I'll do it myself.

OK, anyone, I know I've asked before...I'm going to town to buy a NiN album, I have Year Zero and Broken...what should I get? I looked on wikipedia and it said that The Fragile "features a rich array of electronic beats, ambient noise, and heavy guitar" which to me sounds ace?

I do. It just seems to me that there's a lot of filler over the two discs. If it was condensed down to one disc, it would be a great album.

I think cause of what stuff you like already you would appreciate the fragile. Personally I do advise the downward spiral because it's just awesome and I love it, and it has a dead sexy chilled out instrumental track of a warm place.

I say go for The Fragile it's the best NIN record imo closley followed by the Still EP. But if you already have broken and like it, The Downward Spiral may be more of your cup of tea. The Downward Spiral has some naff songs on it though, Big Man With A Gun is a bit shite really I think...

I'm going trough all the b-sides and remixes right now, which is still interesting it somehow also manipulates the way i listen to the original songs. What's more I realised that I loved NiN the most when I first heared it, everything sounds so much more coherent and complex the first few times.

Trent: I bought the physical one, so I spent a whopping $80. [Pauses.] But, then I re-bought it and paid $5,000, because I really felt that I need to support the arts, so people could follow in my footsteps. [Saul laughs.]

I wish NIN would do a whole album of driving/groovy chooons like Only, The Hand That Feeds, Capital G, etc.
The intro to Only is quite possibly, the best bit of NINage, ever.

I don't want NIN to repeat anything they've done. I hope Trent continues to always try something new musically. Another Broken/Downward Spiral/The Fragile would mean these albums/ep's would not be unique anymore.
Saying that I would like to see another Still EP. Right Where it Belongs acoustic would be amazing.
Hmm an acoustic EP would be awesome.
And I agree about bands not repeating themselves too much, though meh I still hanker for rwock :(

The remix album certainly takes some getting used to. It makes Pretty Hate Machine seem almost metal.

Love NIN. My 2nd favourite band after Gunners. My favourite album is a toss up between Downward Spiral and The Fragile. I love the song they did for the movie "The Crow", Lost Soul. It's like my favourite NIN song. Their last album was good, a lot denser in sound.
I wish I saw NIN back in their hey days or the Robin Finck era. Seen Robin live, but in Gn'R though. Still think Robin Finck was better in NIN though.
It's funny coz like half of A Perfect Circle are in NIN now. And than there's Aaron who used to be in Icarus Line....well atleast I think he's still in NIN lol!

Not anymore. The band from the Year Zero tour has been dispanded by Trent.
Jeordie is in Goon Moon, Josh is wanted by nearly everybody but A Perfect Circle are rumored to be recording a new album. Who Maynard is having in the band is anyones guess but I imagine he will want Josh back. Aaron is in a band which will sound like early Oasis according to an interview with him in Kerrang a few months back. No idea what Alessandro will be doing. He might be staying with Trent for the new tour maybe? We'll have to wait and see.

Thats fair enough. Personally I think you'll find most peoples favorites are what they would consider to be the best anyway. Its the same with bands people don't like. They'll say the band is overrated or shit etc...Still, whatever floats your boat at the end of the day right? :)

Funny, I tend not to do that. If I don't like something, then that doesn't have to mean that they suck. If I recognize their talent, I will grant them that. It might not be my thing, but that does not take away from the quality of the music. I still won't listen to it, mind you.
A lot of stuff I like sucks. However, I still like it. But that does not make them any better. And it especially won't make them the best thing since sliced bread.
I think it's short-sighted to say that everything you don't like is shit, just like it seems stupid to think that everything you listen to is automatically good. I know people like to think of themselves as having fantastic music tastes, but they're just being delusional if they think like that.
Please excuse the rambling, I'm starting to get slightly drunk.

Whatever www.ninwiki.com
Jubilee footage? Jubilee photos?
Hey everybody. Travis from Buddyhead here….
So, we just got back from the UK Jubilee tour, and are in the midst of putting together one of those “music video” type thingy-ma-bobs. You know… Those things they used to show on music television before it was all just Flavor Flav boning numbskulls half his age, and even half as intelligent as him. Yeah, yikes. Anywhoo… We noticed a lot of people filming those shows and the band on tour. So we were wondering if any of you who did so, would be willing to send us whatever footage you have. It doesn’t matter if you think it looks “crappy” or “unprofessional” or not… it’s alllll good. And obviously, the sound quality doesn’t matter at all, cos it won’t be used. So yeah, if ya have anything at all, please email me at traviskeller@gmail.com. You can either zip all the video files and either host them somewhere for us to download or simply email them to me.
Also, if you took any still shots of the band, we’d like to see those as well. There are even some of you out there whose photos have already been used here and there, and due to all the confusion, you haven’t been properly credited. If this is the case, please let us know so we can remedy the mistake.
Thanks a lot and keep on keepin’ on…
- Travis.

Agreed. Being a massive NIN fan I'm much happier now that Trent is putting material out more frequently. Plus he does a lot more for the fans than any other band I know of. I might be wrong but not many bands allow you to remix their songs by giving you all the tools needed AND then have a website where you can upload your work for free. Trent pays for the hosting for everything on the remix site which will be expensive.
2 weeks until more new NIN stuff?! omgz :o Here's hoping!

In fucking deed, I keep bumping against new mix material or rare songs he produced one time.

He's propably going to not-release his new album in two weeks as revenge for the low Niggy Tardust sales.
Yeah that must be it.

If Trent releases new material in the same way as Niggy Tardust I feel a hell of a lot more people will pay rather than download it for free. NIN have a big fan base of hardcore followers. Also NIN are a big name in the music Industry but not many people have heard of Saul Williams and a lot of people that have heard of him are NIN fans so may not be into hip hop/rap music.
I can see where Trent is coming from though. I mean $5 for a whole album? Thats a bargain and I feel more people should have paid the 5 bucks rather than been a cheap ass and got it for free. And yes I did buy it before someone asks if I got it for free...:p

I got it for free, but admittedly I would never have bought it since I don't like it THAT much. It's not bad like, but if I couldn't have gotten it for free I just wouldn't listen to it at all.

The comparisson isn't really right. Everybody can download it and try it out, nobody's stopping them. It would be completely wrong to multiple the downloads with 5$ and call that lost profit. Sure you could do that sum and call the result 'Advertising costs' but nothing else then that.
I know Saul Williams isn't a debuting artists, but if he and trent are trying to make him hit the main audience they both should be gratefull for every download, paid for or not.

I know what your saying but I think Trent was hoping that more people would be willing to latch onto a new way of distributing an album.
But still I think a lot more than 18% would have paid if it was a NIN release.

I'm just going to get the simple 2xCD set I think. Wonder if it will be available in the shops at a later date?

Now this, is how digital downloads should be.
But unfortunatly, the industry/iTunes are just too fucking stupid to realise it. Mega-kudos to Trent :yesey:.
Trent is amazing. :yesey:
There's absolutely no way I can listen to this all before I go today. It sounds like it's going to be a heavy listen.

This is very very annoying. It'll download a bit, then the download bar just fills up in about 2 seconds and the zip file won't open. TSSSK

The double-CD is getting a standard commercial release on April 7 in the UK. Also available that day will be a 130 gram vinyl edition (the one in the ultra limited box is 180 gram).
I was somehow able to order and download it last night. NIN's servers were bad then, but they seem to be even worse now. I fear he greatly underestimated the interest in this album.
