Much more Fragile-esque than any of the other tracks I think. The rhythm especially. I prefer it my My Violent Heart I think.

This week's Kerrang has a small interview with Trent about the upcoming UK tour, and a review of the Beside You In Time DVD.
In the interview he says:
The tour that we have coming up will have a little bit of new stuff, but it's not the focus of it and there's a couple of reasons for that. The first one is that the record won't be out yet and ultimately, I do want to give people what they want. As a fan who goes to see bands, certainly when I was growing up, it's kind of a bummer when it's all just new album stuff. There are songs people expect to hear and I want to give them that.
Yes Trent, like Happiness In Slavery. ;)

In this Twilight is on the net. It was found in a USB drive in Manchester. I'm d/ling the song right now! :)
Also, GET THIS:
Spiral members attending the Manchester show tonight got a special treat: "Spiral members went in expecting a sound check and instead got pizza and Trent turning up saying 'soundchecks are boring - listen to this' and they got to listen to the whole new album ‘Year Zero’. Agree that’s its like the soundtrack to a movie you have never seen. Described it as being like prince, devo, royksop with a large dollop of noise. Equally catchy and dense. Has all the old NIN elements we would recognise but is brand new too."

Saw them at both the Manchester gigs... amazing, just amazing, and we got We're In This Together.
The crowd were crap though. Really really crap. Hell is for Heroes in Academy 3 made this gig look tame. The second night in particular, I was in seating, and it felt like watching a support act; at one point I got poked and told to sit down.
But Trent and his crew were spot on. We weren't worthy.

I was disappointed by the crowd, I went on the Sunday. I was really hyped about the gig but the people round me just didn't seem to get into it? I have no idea why everyone just seemed so flat (for want of a better expression) Come on, it was NIN!

Set lists have been fantastic - at the Manc. gigs we got Last and We're In This Together (only been played twice), as well as No You Don't, The Big Comedown, and Starf***ers, which has been pretty rare on this tour.
Trent did say "See you in summer" on Monday night... so here's hoping he keeps his word!
I'm not really sure what to make of the new tracks... Survivalism is alright, not too sure about the others. I suspect they'll grow on me, though (to be fair, Take A Bow took a few listens for me to like it, and it's only since I saw it live I've loved it). I like the art/websites around the new album, the Presence and all that, though it seems to lack some of the subtlety of the Fragile.

:stunned: I hope I don't witness anything like that. Most I saw were people dancing/rocking out to closer, thank god.
Fingers crossed for big come down tonight dammit, I'm just in the right mood for it.

I doubt I'll get near enough to get any photos. :(
How much stuff did Aaron North smash up?

 Erm I didn't see too much action on the right I'm afraid but he got pretty crazy. That reminds me at some point trent knocked down his mic and someone propped it back up and he kinda swatted it down again on purpose  as if to say 'No I want it to stayy down'
PS. the new single sounds sooooo much better live

Did anyone notice if there were any decent girlie/skinny fit T Shirts on the merch stalls? These were really lacking on the last tour. I ended up getting a With Teeth era NIN logoed one from Play.com in the end, of all places.

There was a kind of grey/green one and a tie-dye red one which was horrible, so I got the grey/green one. Check the merch on the website.

Post-poned till August? I guess that's when NIN were planning to do the UK Year Zero Tour!
I apologize for postponing the show tonight in Birmingham - I simply have to not sing for a couple of days. Please know I do not make this decision lightly and I am sorry for the inconvenience. See you again soon,

I'm meant to come back to bournemouth thursday as I should be uni friday morning, but if I have to miss a day, then oh well...
There's nothing on the brixton academy website to say they won't be playing, so hopefully should be alright.

Trent said a couple of days. That's today and tomorrow, so I'm reasonably confident.

I think we will be fine if like me you're going to Brixton on Wednesday. Apparently, on nin.com, the circumstances are 'beyond their control'.
So Trent hasn't screwed his voice up. It's the fault of the Academy.

I'm going to check and see. The thing is, it's going to be like a couple of days after Leeds, so i'll just get home and have to get a train straight back out again.

Try The Downward Spiral (which has Closer on it). The Fragile (where Starfuckers Inc comes from) is good, but isn't the most accessible NIN album.
Get Broken too, because that is ace.

I am new to this board and I only signed up because I enjoy reading your NIN stuff - and thanks for posting a set list for the 8th (I went last night). I was really pleased they played sin, terrible lie, and surprised they played Deep.
I was absolutely stunned at how un-rock like the audience was though - I was expecting this to be a really kinetic, passion fuelled energy fest (like the gigs of the past) but it all seemed a bit corporate and controlled. It really gives me a hunger to go to some small cosy venues.

It was hard to see through all the dry ice up in the Circle at times though. Very poor. It also seems to be the law that someone has to say loudly "ooh, Johnny Cash did this" during Hurt. I'm sure I heard mass 'sshhh'ing going on as people tried to get others in the crowd to stop talking.
Haha that beats my crowd surfing tale.
The setlist was gorgeous last night. I think I've collected most of TDS cept 3 tracks this tour.
Honestly, having to remain seated through a NIN gig is rubbish. I almost went to the standing bit at the back of the circle, but then thought I wouldn't see anything.
If they play Happiness In Slavery tonight when I'm not there I'll have to hunt them down.
As I was saying to others I BETTT they'll fucking play WITT tonight while I'm not there. If they do I will cwry or something.
Oh man that gig was so immense last night. We stood at one of the centre barriers and I was tempted to launch myself off it during head like a hole.
Bob got busted for his camerwaa, haha.
I'm still buzzing from last night phowerrrr.
Aarron is still quite nice

Aaron certainly has no regard for his own safely. I enjoyed the bit right at the end where he threw the amp on top of his guitar and did a bit of amp surfing. I really wish I was going tonight.
Setlist:
Pinion
Mr. Self Destruct
Piggy
Heresy
March of the Pigs
Closer
The Becoming
Last
Help Me I Am In Hell
Eraser
Reptile
La Mer/Into the Void
No You Don't
Survivalism
Only
Wish
Gave Up
Dead Souls
Hurt
The Hand That Feeds
Head Like a Hole
Ha yes my mate told me about that cause I think I missed all that properly since I was bouncing up and down on the barrier and then clapping. I saw em trash guitars tho.
Aaron is awesome.
Dead souls was a nice surprise but it was odd during the gig the name of the track failed to hit me and it was bugging me.

You think that's bad, they had keyboards on sprung arms on the Downward Spiral tour, and Trent completely smashed them up. A friend of mine got hold of a couple of the keys. :D
waste of roland keyboards *grovels* haha
still pissed off they didn't play we're in this together and sin :(.

the beginning is a bit too loud because the automatic gain control was slowly adjusting the volume and all,
afterwards its all gold. the only thing needed is a bit of eq'ing and track splitting. mainly reducingn the bass and raising the treble a bit, thats about it. but like i said, i can't be arsed :P i have muse, howling bells, tilly and the wall, placebo, regina spektor, coopers and many more to actually split, equalise and share (least important) :p

I think the idea is to create your own art, so there is no official merchandise with the Art Is Resistance flag.
You could try ebay though as some people have attempted mass production of mugs, patches etc with the flag on it. Also if you're really into the ARG stuff I'd recommend a look at the ETS message board as it's crammed with info.

So am I the only one here who saw NIN last night? It was a great setlist, mostly stuff from PHM/TDS era. But we still got Starfuckers Inc., You Know What You Are and Get Down Make Love (I think) :D. I now appreciate Down In It since hearing it live, I always thought it was the weakest song on PHM, how wrong was I! Shame about no Dead Souls, Reptile, Happiness In Slavery or Every Day Is Exactly The Same, but what are you going to do? I was happy enough to hear Starfuckers, as that's been like gold-dust on this tour :D.
I can't remember the exact set list, if someone could post it, or post somewhere where I could find it, it'd be much appreciated!

Was this the case in other gigs as well what I noticed: the line to mens loo was longer than to laydees? I was giggling to that.

Feel bad for my friend... he's a huge Foos fan and almost as big a NIN fan... but is too skint even to see them on this tour (he couldn't come to the Manc' nights with us... :( )
I'm not sure which bootleg is being referred to in this thread but there's a decent one of the first Manc' night knocking about, I'd love one of the second... I was relegated to seating, so didn't see much, though I did get a (very crap) video of the middle of With_Teeth. With Trent saying "I... cannot see the ****ing piano..."

It's true for kinda I want to, it's even on their FAQ site. But nothing about perfect drug, though i can imagine it's full of backing vocals that are mixed over himself so it's quite hard to do that song well live (though they might take a look at 'everything in its right place' live to see how radiohead solved that.

Ah well that sucks. :(
Loving the pictures of Aaron North, keep them coming! I just read his article on wikipedia, lol at:
"In 2002, North made music headlines after an Icarus Line performance at the Hard Rock Cafe in Austin, Texas where he "liberated" a guitar that had belonged to Stevie Ray Vaughan. He broke its protective case with the base of a microphone stand, took it out, tried to plug it into his amplifier, but was then quickly set upon by security. The incident resulted in North receiving numerous death threats from outraged Texans"
I've been thinking, is it possible that the next NIN tour will take place about the same time as the Wolverhampton and Birmingham (it was Birmingham IIRC, sorry if that's wrong) dates have been rescheduled to?

I think Kinda I Want To would have been played in the early days but certainly not anytime since TDS came out. I read somewhere that Trent really hates that track, and lets be honest everything else on PHM is about a million times better
As for The Perfect Drug Trent said on a radio interview that he isn't keen on the song and felt it was thrown together in a hurry, but then recently the setlists have been more orientated to what the fans want to hear e.g. Deep rather that what TR's own favourites are. I would speculate that with TPD it's not easy to do live from a technical point of view.
Oh and while I'm here - I'm so not paying £70 to go to Reading and watch NIN on the big screen. Meh.

And I sort of agree about seeing NIN at Reading... Still some of the bands look alright, although I'll never understand how Razorlight can headline a festival where NIN are supporting... Still lostprophets will be happy to go on before NIN, they're big fans of NIN (like everyone is).
