While NIN are away I shall be placing my allegence with Maynard James Keenan's excellent Puscifer. :yesey:
If only they would play over here, their shows in the States sounded amazing.

It's spring time and love is in the air.
All of us at the nin hotline would like to extend our congratulations to former NIN drummer Meg White on her recent engagement and impending nuptials.

I've not heard of Home...

.

There's some NINnage I still need to get my hands on, Still being one.

Home was a bonus track on With Teeth that was a bit average sounding really. It's nothing to get excited about in my opinion.

Trent posted this stuff in the NIN forums today. Some of it won't apply to the European peeps I guess but still worth reading:

It was my idea, decision and job to convince all parties (from my own band to Janes') to play before JA. Here is why. We've become tired of the "formal", very structured LITS - type production and way of presenting the band. The idea of walking onstage as the sun is about to set and play a bunch of unexpected material that's exciting for us to play without the bogged-down, flashy production appeals to me. You get to see us in a way you haven't before. Yes, it's different. Yes, the set lists will amaze some and bum-out many others. Everyone had ample opportunities to see LITS, and that era is over. We play our set leading you into the evening bathed in only white light in a physically tight setup, then Jane's come out in full color and openness. The challenge for us is greater, the set feels much riskier (especially with the challenging flow of the set lists I'm making) and that makes it exciting and valid for us.

The NIN/JA tour is generally geared more towards the hardcore NIN fan. We're not trying to play the greatest hits - we've done that over and over. Don't expect the same shit every night - that's why I relaxed the camera / recording policy. You'll likely be able to find what you want out there somewhere, from wherever. I'm treating these last shows as individual, finite, precious events that I'm sure will result in some polarization of your responses.

I was talking to my dad about this, and he was like. "Oh it doesn't matter really, cause I saw them in 1991."

Wasn't the response I was expecting, that's for sure. I actually envy him there a little.

It's monumentally expensive.

£190 (inc. fees) for two days of music (that's not as extensive as other festivals) is really a bit of a rip-off. It's a brand new festival too and on the whole, we're a cynical bunch of bastards over here so lots of people won't want to part with their money for a new experience, particularly as money is tight at the moment. Furthermore, the Linkin Park support (2nd headliner) are yet to be announced so people are holding off til then too.

Tickets are selling quite badly too, DAY TICKETS WILL SOLVE YOUR PROBLEMS ORGANISERS.

It's 89€ here for the day with these artists Metallica, Linkin Park, Anthrax, Machine Head, Lamb of God, Mastodon + possible additions. Thinking, if you want to just see Metallica and Linkin Park, seeing them separately would already be over the ticket price of the festival.

NIN sounded scary-great on “Head Like a Hole,” the first song on their first LP, and on a song that Reznor announced they had never played before, a cover of David Bowie’s “I’m Afraid of Americans.” But the material from in between wore thin. Looking more like a meathead Tom Cruise than Alan Rickman’s black-magic Severus Snape, Reznor has not sipped from Jane’s fountain of youth

So, Trent made Twitter/the internet/NIN.com explode again... :indiff:

Turns out "backstage pass" actually means "come backstage to a catering room with other contest winners and meet no one unless JA happens to be wandering around."

Kind of shitty...

It's a lose/lose situation for him in all honesty. Then again, I think they should just be grateful for the free ticket and pass in the first place. :erm:

So this isn't the backstage pass that costs $300?

This is if you won off Twitter. He really never specified what Twitter winners would get in terms of being "back stage," but once he went on the Save Eric campaign, all donaters WILL meet the band and get priority over any Twitter winner.

Though...I know it's great to donate to a good cause, but how many millions do Trent and Co. have? I mean, couldn't they have collectively given something? And why not have fans donate to a charity to help others in the situation and not just 1 person?

Because if Trent wasn't mental, he couldn't make such great music.

My iPod's alarm went off this morning whilst it was in its dock. I had a blinder and the song was The Great Destroyer. I couldn't be arsed to move to turn it off, so I just endured it.

I can meet up during, as it's highly unlikely I'll be there much before 7:30pm due to congestion charge / residents parking issues. No way I'm trying to drive to the O2 and pay their huge parking costs.

I'm going with some, on balance, antisocial people, so I guess I won't be meeting.

But if I somehow bump into anyone I'll say hi.

I'm gonna be in London from mid-afternoon I think though I won't get into the O2 until Aino gets in. She's going to try and get off work early because Mew start at 6:45pm.

Ticketmaster are now saying that Nine Inch Nails have a TWO HOUR set. :D Win.

I still think that after Head Down it just sort of falls apart a bit (except maybe Demon Seed).

The first half of The Slip is complete win. Head Down is an okay song since I never really cared for it and Lights in the Sky is great. Then the rest up until Demon Seed is pretty meh. Good album overall though.

Brief apperance on the board for a reason...

I kinda suggested it a page or two ago but I really think we should meet up for the O2 show. I just think, due to the sheer number of people going, it might be a shitload of fun as a group. These are the peeps who I know are going:

Me
Aino
Tash
Olly
Ryan
Vel
Gemsy
Sophi
Beast Bob
Milky Joe

We could even meet up in the Nando's in the O2! I think on our next visit, me and Aino are entitled to a free whole chicken so we could get that as well!

What do you guys think? I think it could be fun times! :D

Although I'll be easier to spot if I get my blue hair done by then ;)
